Hard challenge - what is this?
All I know is that it’s got a 0 on one side and an X on the other. It’s got a beaded boarder. Weighs 7grams ish and is the size of a 5p coin. Any ideas !?

I found this ring on a beach in North Norfolk in the U.K. Any ideas what this means? Is it old? It’s a heavy ring. Some sort of copper alloy.
I went out for the second time today (with guidance and best practices followed).. in the south west of uk, near the coast… found this thing.. it’s slightly bigger than a 50p piece. I wondered if anyone had any ideas on what it might be..
Also found a buckle and some lead….
I like this hobby!
Hello Only just started metal detecting 2 weeks ago. Does anyone have any idea what on earth these are that i have collected or where i could take them to get checked? TIA x
Thanks for those that helped me ID this yesterday.
I believe this is the top third of a broken brooch with the spring still intact.
This field lies close to an old Roman road so excited to see what else I can dig out!
I know these are relatively common but it has me so over the moon
I can make out BIRM and HARRIS on the reverse
I'm based in Newcastle upon Tyne and as far as I can find there are no North East clubs taking on any new members at the moment. I'm new to detecting and would love to join a North East based club but it doesn't look seem possible. It got me wondering if anyone has much luck with securing permissions or making a go of it on their own. Any advice or stories you'd be willing to share with a newbie would be massively appreciated!
found im colchester essex (army town, was a huge roman city) it has the writing EO4 on it
Just found this and I feel like it could be quite old.
It was a target ID in the 60s on the Deus II.
In this field I know someone found a Roman enamel brooch a few years back with lots of Roman coins found here too.
Will ask my FLO!
Any ideas...? Found it on land
Found metal detecting in a ploughed field in Shropshire. The field has produced Roman material before, although I’m not assuming this object is Roman.
It’s a small ornate, flower-shaped metal object with several scalloped/lobed sections and projections at the top and bottom. There are bright silvery-looking areas where the soil has come away, but I don’t know whether it’s actually silver, silvered, pewter/white metal, etc.
The centre appears to contain a separate raised circular element which catches the light and looks possibly like glass, paste or a stone/setting, although I’m not certain. There also seem to be small raised features around it.
I’ve only removed loose/dry soil very carefully and I’m stopping there now. I can’t currently identify an intact hook, pin or other attachment on the reverse.
Any thoughts on what type of object it is, likely date, and what the central element might be would be really appreciated. If it looks potentially significant or precious-metal, I’ll be showing the photos to my Finds Liaison Officer.
Hi there, bit of a long shot but if anyone's in the Herne Bay area, has a metal detector, and is free this evening, I've just lost a wedding ring swimming in the sea. Once the tide goes out I can show you the approximate area, and can pay a reward of £100. DM if you might be able to help, thanks so much.
Nothing special but I've never found ships penny before,
Is the last one maybe a spindle whirl?

My son asked for a metal detector for his birthday. I had my eye on a Nokta midi but didn't want to spend that amount in case he wasn't interested. I settled and managed to find a National Geographic Explorer for £50. It has 3 detect modes, an led display. I've tested it with my own coins and it is seemingly accurate for surface reads.
Here is where I need to know if its our technique or the MD we are using... we have only been able to find a can. We have dug and dug and dug where it beeps but nothing. It will beep once but not continuously beep over something - does that mean there's nothing there? He is really enjoying it but becoming very frustrated that we can't find any kind of metal lol.
Any advice? Do we just keep trying? Taking it to the beach in a couple of weeks and that might be easier
I’ve recently acquired what I believe to be a Coinmaster TR-discriminator metal detector as pictured.
I’m completely uninformed when it comes to vintage metal detectors, so any information regarding it would be greatly appreciated.
It reminds me of the ghost trap from Ghostbusters!
Thanks in advance.
