Fresh from the Porsche world...I'm sold on an ND!

I'm very happy to be purchasing a lightly-used 2021 RF 6MT.

I recently sold my beloved 911, mainly because it stopped being fun to drive (on the road anyway) The limits of performance were high enough that you can't explore the limit on the road, at least not for long.

Anyway, yesterday I unexpectedly came across a gorgeous ND2 RF and during a long test drive, I realized it was everything that I had been missing in my 911. It was pure enjoyment and I simply did not want to get out of it. These cars are amazing, I shouldnt be surprised as I owned an NB for several years before I got lost in the Porsche wilderness, but man the ND is a good car.

I'm in my 50's and feel like a kid again!!

Goodbye for now

Said goodbye to my GTI today. I've wanted a miata for years so I'm beyond excited, but I also already miss my GTI. It's a more well rounded car and possibly the perfect daily, but the Miata is pure fun on wheels. I'd like to get another GTI one day if my situation allows, so hopefully this isn't forever

Similar cars??

Hey! Hope this isn’t a dumb ask, wanted to pick the brains of the enthusiasts in here who know more than I do. looking for a new car and fell in love with everything I’m seeing about the Miatas, specifically the MX5. Only thing that is making it a definite no for me is that it will do horribly in snow… I live in a place where snow and bad weather can be frequent. My question is, what car could be comparable to the Miata MX5, in size and costs specifically, while still having the practicality of holding up in weather. Is there anything used I could find that’s a bang for my buck? Not a collector, just love the look these cars have and needing a new everyday car. Thank you in advanced!! 😊

Fun Autocross with ND2

The power! The revs!

Too bad the 540 treadwear all season tires 'ruined' the fun. But I'll be better prepared next time (foreshadowing 200 TW).

Still finished mid pack in PAX, and not last in class.

I learned how to turn off the traction control after the first run. (grin)

The first 12 days of ownership have been OUTSTANDING!

GWR RoadsterSport Race Muffler Vs. MBRP 2.5" Race Muffler

Parked next to a fellow driver at an autocross event this weekend, and we ended up doing a spontaneous sound comparison between our axle-back mufflers.

The car on the left is equipped with the Goodwin Racing muffler, while the car on the right has the MBRP muffler.

The video clip doesn't really do either car justice, but I do think the MBRP is a couple decibels louder and produces a deeper, richer, and more dynamic exhaust note. Everyone who listened in person agreed that the MBRP sounded the best.

Personally, I'd still choose the GWR muffler for the weight savings since I have an RF. It weighs only 12 pounds compared to the MBRP's 20 pounds. If shedding weight isn't a major concern, I highly recommend the MBRP for its excellent sound and lower price point.

TPMS Error

Bought a new club ST, at 1600 miles, zero mods, and I just had this error message pop up in the left side of the dash.

Basically says TPMS error, take the vehicle in etc….

All four tires have air, proper pressure, no leaks.

Is it possible to do some kind of reset?

I really don’t want to take it in to the dealer if I don’t have to.

Should I replace my tyres?

The thread depth at the sides are 2mm at the lowest and the center is 3-4mm. Is this okay for a few more years or should I change it

Edit: pardon my noob question as I am indeed a car noob. Looking at the replies here, I think I'll probably change my tyres soon

Question regarding ND's BBS Wheels

Hi Guys, just a quick question regarding the upgraded BBS wheels for the ND. I'm sure somebody out there has been through this so I could use some help.

I love the wheels. Great design, and super lightweight - like considerably lighter than what I would have expected. What I don't really like though, is the centre hubcaps.

I bought some regular (knock off) black Mazda caps off eBay and they don't fit. The circumference is fine, but they just don't sit in due to (I suspect) either not being deep enough or not having the right shape on the clips. They seem to sit in place, but it's not possible to push them into the hole.

Has anybody out there replaced their BBS hubcaps with anything aftermarket? Is there an OEM fitment for Mazda hubcaps available, or are there alternatives for these BBS wheels out there?

Even a shiny black hubcap would be OK, but I'd ideally prefer something with the Mazda logo on it if possible.

Amazon side window deflectors?

One month in and I think I would like to try side window deflectors for my '21 RF. There's no reviews. The description says material used as aluminum? I was wondering if anyone here has tried them?

3d printable sunglasses holder

2 piece 3d printable shelf for your center console compartment. Sticks together but you should use a little CA glue to make it permanent, I didn't do anything clever to make it snap together.

Thingiverse link

I just whipped this up yesterday. Open to improvements.

Replacing antenna

Hello, I posted this on a Miata Facebook page but would like to see if Reddit can help me out as well. I need to find the metal piece on the right side of the picture (left side is a screw that has rusted into it)

VB WRX owner planning for kids: Is a Miata + SUV setup realistic, or do we need a 3rd car?

Hi everyone, Aussie VB WRX owner here.

My wife and I are currently mapping out the next few years—mortgage, planning for kids, and how to keep my car modifying hobby alive (it's my main sanity outlet!). I’d love to get some real-world advice, especially from parents who have owned an MX-5/Miata while raising young kids.

The Context:

  • Wife: Automatic license only and deals with chronic anxiety, so keeping things stress-free and reliable for her is top priority.
  • Kids: Planning for 1–3 children, starting to try in 2028.
  • Lease: My WRX lease ends in 2030 (trade-in option opens in 2029).
  • The Goal: Separate family duty from my hobby. I originally got the WRX to do both, but I don't want to force my wife or future kids into a loud, stiff car for daily driving. If they want to join in on car stuff later, great, but I want a dedicated split.

After running the numbers, we’ve narrowed it down to two potential garage setups:

  • Plan 1 (2 Cars): MX-5 / Miata (my daily + project) + Premium SUV for my wife (e.g., Lexus NX).
  • Plan 2 (3 Cars): MX-5 / Miata (my daily + project) + Mid-luxury SUV (e.g., 2024+ Santa Fe or Mazda CX-60) + Cheap family runabout (used Corolla, Civic, or Mazda 3 for backup).

The Dilemma: I'm leaning toward Plan 1 for financial efficiency. However, my wife is concerned about logistics: What happens if the SUV is in for service, or I need to do kid pickup/bulky errands when she needs a car? She can’t drive the manual MX-5, and the MX-5 can’t fit child seats.

Plan 2 solves the logistics gap, but paying full rego, insurance, and maintenance on a third car just for rare role-reversal days feels wasteful.

Questions for the community:

  1. For parents with a 2-seater standard/manual daily: How often do these scheduling clashes actually happen in real life? Is it a manageable hassle or an absolute nightmare once kids enter the picture?
  2. Is Plan 2 total overkill, or does having a 3rd "beater" family car save your sanity with young kids?

Appreciate any insights or alternative setups you’ve experienced!

I did my first AUTOTEST today (and won) here is some sideways action

I usually compete in autosolo which are all forward courses but thought i'd try a autotest which are much tighter, require handbrake turns, reversing in to boxes of cones and stopping between lines. This was during the MG FEST 2026 event at brand's hatch.

Insane Road Trip MPG

One tank of ethanol-free 87 octane got me from Knoxville to Hagerstown, MD. Averaging about 75-80mph. Filled up in Hagerstown with ethanol-free 90 octane and reset the average mpg, which turned out to be an even more insane 45.5mpg averaging about 70mph

Wondering if the possible switch is worth it

Hey guys,

I've been wondering about switching my 2018 E class to a 2023 2L engine Miata.

It would be my daily car. But the thing is I don't drive to work I have delegation work 2 weeks olworking 2 weeks home.

My cars is very nice cruiser and also has pretty much all the possible extra equipment. It's a 2L 198KM 400Nm engine so it's quite quick on its feet.

What I'm worried about is that the jump from a super luxury car to such a raw sports car can be huge.

Despite the car being amazing the driving doesn't give me that many emotions and I've been yearning for a cabrio my whole life.

I know most people here love the Mazda but I would be happy to get some non baised opinions on this topic.

Also I don't want to have 2 cars at the same time. My partner has a Volkswagen Polo so I would still have acces to more practical car if need be.

Picture of my car for a refrence
