Owners manual says first oil change at 6,600 miles?

I have 500 miles on my new ND. Should I really wait that long for the first oil change?

Rust already?

This is a 2025 RF with 4K miles on it. I garage it. This is next to the driver’s window. I can’t scratch it away with my fingernail or rub it out. Wondering if it’s rust and, if it is, what steps I should take to mitigate/preventing it from spreading.

Does anybody where i can get this spoiler for the ND?

Does anybody know where you can buy this spoiler? Only one i found like that is the one from rally backer. But that one costs like 1k because of shipping and more import fees. Is there something else that looks like this?

Thanks in regard!

First peek at a 3D printed CB ND3 bracket

It's a work in progress, but it's at a point that it is functional enough to share with you. I still have to round out the edges and optimize for strength and filament usage. But it works, and a perfect fit. The cup holder insert clicks into place.

The CB is the Uniden Pro510XL, but can easily scale for other models.

Miata-Mazda3-CX9-Miata

Questions as I transition back to a Miata (been waiting 17 years for this) for everyday use.

1: my cx9’s steering wheel leather blistered in the hot sun, so I picked at it at stop lights. How do you prevent the blistering? My Grand Touring Miata had the squishy, corded steering wheel and never had an issue, but that doesn’t seem to be an option anymore.

2: Grand Touring vs GT RF? I loved my soft top old one.

Spare tire?

Anyone know of any options for a spare tire that leaves some space in the trunk? I’ve always been searching.

Thanks!

Purse Problems

Anyone got any ideas? When my husband and I ride in my car, (which is 99% of the time with these gas prices), I usually put my purse in the footwell of the passenger side. Well, as you know, there’s not a lot of room there so it’s in his way or he’s stepping on it most of the time. I’ve seen these nets you can buy the attach to the headrests and you can put your purse in that. But..most of them are made for SUV’s so they are way too big, and most of them attach to the stems on the headrests, which we don’t have in an ND. Has anyone in here encountered this issue, and have you found a solution? 2016 ND ST. Thanks!

Joined The Club

Bought a new GT from the dealer two weeks ago, I've washed it four times.

So far, it's been a joy. Just as fun as I have been imagining. I have one of those Platypus license plate holders on order, and other than that I am not planning on any mods. Well, I put a little shelf in the center glove box, which helps a lot.

I'm pleasantly surprised by:

  • How little wind there is, even at highway speeds with the top down.
  • How quiet the cabin is. It's actually quieter than my 2012 Civic Si.
  • How tight and well made everything is.
  • How good the radio is.

I'm not a fan of the High-Beam Control system. It's nuts that you can't turn the brights off w/o reaching down to hit the button (which I can't see w/o leaning over).

Also, my Pixel 6a phone isn't powerful enough to handle Android Auto, even connecting with USB, but you can't blame the car for that.

Looking forward to many miles and some slightly cooler days.

Does anyone have any experience with the Fujimura Auto Rocket Dancer front bumper? What's the quality & fitment like?

As the title says.

I love the look of this front bumper with the optional front lip and LED DRLs, but I'm a bit worried that its all made out of FRP rather than the standard ABS OEM bumper (I'm assuming its made of ABS).

So if anyone has one, what's the fitment and quality like with the FRP?

TIA

Every Needs VersaTune

After a couple of weeks of ownership I went ahead and updated my old tuning laptop (used previously in my 180sx drift build) with a Samsung SSD and windows 10 so I could use versatune. Got around to flashing the 7200 rpm 93 octane tune this afternoon after work and was genuinely shocked by the difference. The ND1 is definitely known for being dead up top but that characteristic is definitely gone now and I’m shocked by the difference in throttle response and mid range punch. I’d argue this might be the best $400 I’ve ever spent on a car.

Second best $400 might be on replacing the piano black trim surrounding the windshield. Old stuff snapped off in pieces but the new stuff went in without a hitch. OEM piano black stuff seemed harder to come by than I expected due to US part superseding but I found a supplier in Japan and got it sent over for $50 additional shipping.

Spent a little more swapping up some random stuff the P.O. didn’t care about like the infotainment button and and rear view mirror…tore off the old crappy “leather” from my handbrake. Now I just need to fix my buzzing visors.

Been a fun first two weeks of ND ownership.

oil change on the Miata

Do you guys recommend this oil for daily driving/ ocasional hard canyon driving on the Miata with 11,000 miles? Previous Oil change was done by Mazda at 6,000 miles with previous owner. I’m also using a Mobil 1 M1-108A oil filter.

Looking for a used ND2 RF

To anyone who has recently bought a used ND, where did you purchase from? I’m finding that every used car site I scroll through it’s always overrun by Carmax or Carvana posts, I’ve always heard to stay clear from either of the two but they seem to be the only ones with any used ND2’s in my area… curious to know where everyone else is buying.
