Hey all! I’m just some guy named Mike. The microfreak was my first synthesizer and it’s been an inspiration to me. Even after I got the Minifreak, I had no intention of selling the micro.

i must’ve made a hundred or more patches on each of the synths i own. micro, Minifreak, opsix, cobalt8x, microkorg, micromonsta 2.. i just love designing patches.

Recently ive gone through all of my patches for the microfreak and had a listen, as well as going through them and trying to do a polish/final quality pass on them.

Now, I’ve actually already released these patches - and I’ve been hesitating on sharing them on subreddits because I don’t want to be seen as some kind of low effort spam or attempt to wring money from the Internet.

Dont get me wrong, rent is high and every little bit helps - but my main motivation in sharing this sound demo isn’t to stimulate sale. (Not plural, only ive person has bought the pack 😅)

This is the microfreak subreddit. My best case scenario isn’t people buying the pack - although that would be rad - I am actually hoping for two things;

(1) constructively critical comments

(2) to inspire others to make sounds on their microfreak even if they have bigger badder (in theory) synths!

edit: My apologies for not putting all the info! these are 100 presets in a pack for 15 bucks to anyone interested. It contains an eclectic mix that isn’t tied to any one genre.

the sound focus is on variety, but I include many healthy fat bass noises, and a lot of the keys have a boards of Canada style pitch drift or tape emulation sound! I achieve this with a fast pitch lfo adjusted to taste in both speed and intensity.

most of these have sequences! some are actually pretry okay :)

patches are for the latest firmware but I didn’t use sample engines because it’s harder to coordinate and Install if use samples are not the same for everyone.

i am planning a sample based preset pack in the future using synplant 2 and other vsts to create wild sounds :)

Real time walkthrough of a technique I've recently been developing to really get the most out of the wavetables, makes a fairly complex sounding bassline with a lot of fun creative possibility. I don't fully explain everything I'm doing but basically animating the sustain (as a pump), the wavetable position (ie, the timbre knob), release (to get plucky notes played at rhythmic syncopations) and some filter movement. I'm running it through a Donner Dark Mouse for good grit. That pedal is really noisy though, not very pleased with the high noise floor on it. But eh, it was cheap.
