Unobstructed View Rebrand

Unobstructed View Rebrand

Heads up: looks like Unobstructed View is Cinema Cellar as of this morning. The 40% Criterion sale is still up and they changed shipping fees - free at $100, $10 flat rate otherwise.

Sorting and filtering seems to be much better also.

Sharing in case anyone was confused or trying to find UV.

Amazon 50% off Criterion Collection Cheaper than UV

The US Amazon site has 50% off Criterion Collection 4K and Blu-rays which even with the exchange rate & international shipping may be a bit cheaper than Unobstructed View's 40% off (plus taxes and shipping). Amazon may also have titles not available at UV.

Let me add that while you are there you might want to sign up for a free trial to Amazon Prime and grab some Prime Day deals while they last. It doesn't include free shipping to Canada but you get the sick prices.

FINAL UPDATE

Right Amazon US is now offering an additional Prime discount with their 50% off on Criterion.

If you're not using the Canadian Facebook groups for blu ray buying, you're wasting money

Every deal I see in here is still more expensive than what I see in the Facebook groups. Just search up blu ray groups in Canada and there's one with 5k+ ppl in it. Thats the best one.

Downside is you gotta watch for scammers and there's no tracking, but there's so many trusted sellers in there

Unobstructed View - No More Box Set Surcharges?

Not sure if this is strictly a "deal" although pre-order prices at Unobstructed View are generally pretty good (25% off usually). It appears as if they no longer charge any surcharges on box sets, and it is just the standard $6/item charge up until the free shipping threshold of $150.

I tried it with a few different box sets such as Stranger Things, Jackie Chan, and the Kubrick Box Set and none of them had any surcharge added. Couple this with their rebranding to "Cinema Cellar" soon, in addition to the launching of a (hopefully better) new website, and I am impressed with what the new owners are doing with it! Lots of changes, mostly for the better. Hope it keeps going in this direction!

EDIT: There are a few titles that still have a surcharge attached to them (Godzilla Showa, CC40 and Wes Anderson are all $10) but it really does seem to be hit and miss, because some that definitely had surcharges before when I bought them do not now (Yokai Monsters Collection, Gamera Showa/Heisei box sets are examples). Could be rolling it out I guess?

Prime day - Safe Wallet

Now I’m disappointed there was really not much to this prime day, and some stuff on sale was at times very limited in quantities, and ultimately pretty underwhelming, but you know what?

My wallet is really appreciating it today for the first time in a long time

Gruv Steelbooks under $30

I don't check this page on Gruv often so I don't know if these are new deals but 4K steelbooks like F1 and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest are selling for $27.
