Imagine a basketball game you buy once, with new stories and updates instead of having to purchase another game every year. You still get player builds, customization, theatrics, different game modes, and your own crews.
Here’s the concept:
Active cheat detection during every game. Instead of relying only on reports, confirmed cheaters would be removed from the match and placed in “bad sport” lobbies with other confirmed cheaters. There would need to be a way to appeal mistakes.
More realistic basketball. Shooting range and consistency would reflect player ability, with deep shots balanced around how difficult they are in real basketball.
Create your own shooting motion. Think of a feature similar to face scanning, but for capturing your shot.
A fresh start each season. You create a new build and progress again within the same game.
Optional purchases. Credits could boost your chosen attributes, with clothes and other customization available to buy.
A new story each year, delivered within the existing game.
This is an early concept, and I want honest feedback from people who actually play.
What would make you try it? What would make you stay? And which of these ideas would turn you away?

I have been playing 2K MyTeam for many, many years. I almost gave up on 2K because of the experience with 2K 26. The greed displayed by the devs was obvious. Getting great cards was almost impossible. If you had a job or any other kind of outside activity, you just couldn't grind enough to get great cards without spending a massive amount of money. I decided to give it one more shot this year with 2K '27, and I have to say - "Thank you..." I feel like the devs listened to the community. I've found the first season to be very generous with great cards. I have yet to pull a duplicate for anything over a 91 rated card. The exchange isn't impossible and great cards can actually be picked up.

I stopped following this subreddit last year because of the vast amount of negativity, and it was honestly deserved from the 2k '26 MyTeam experience. So... I just want to jump in with a positive, "Thank you, 2K!" I'm looking forward to the rest of the year!

I had a question for y'all, who are some good MyTeam content creators? This is my first year back on myteam and i'm kinda shocked to see how little people engage with the few content that seems to be available on YT.

I've been watching HTB for years, Shake4ndBake is also good, and then there's a few others i keep seeing that review cards, talk abt new events etc. but none really stick with me.

Who can y'all reccomend? Platform doesnt really matter, although I'm mostly on YT.

I’m 70.5% until i reach rep ruby 3, i currently play about 10-12 hours a day on strictly breakout using the 2x rep, how long will it roughly take to finish and get the dark matter rep if im playing atleast 150 games a day of breakout tt and clutch time while combining a few games of domination when the new doms come out, i spend money on the game i have plenty of time on my hands, will it be possible to reach atleast galaxy opal tier by november or December?

Competitive 2K players and casual players have a much different view on how the game should be played and the time required to play the game. I only play online when agendas require it.

For one I’m not “spending time in the lab” to work on a jumper in a video game. Especially when there’s literally a 1,000 different jumpshot animations and the goal of MyTeam is card collection.

I think there should def be an elite reward for players who win the Mecca of online modes, but there should still be quality rewards for offline players.

Thoughts?

MyTeam really just comes down to height + animations and when 2 factors basically decide everything, the game becomes incredibly dull.

Ive been going through Showdown trying to use Curry and Doncic can basically just shoot over him like hes not there. Pippen over Jordan is another example. You are telling me Pippen is more valuable to a team than Jordan? Because this is what the Myteam market and meta has decided. Bad shots are rewarded with certain taller players simply because of how the game works.

It also completely contradicts basketball history. If players like Jordan or Curry can be considered sub par choices, then clearly the things that make you successful in 2K arent really correlating with what makes players great in the NBA.

Thats why the variety feels fake. Thousands of cards but competitive lineups eventually become the same height + animations formula running the same offense. Somehow older 2Ks had more actual variety.
Its just cookie cutter ass gameplay.

Playing at a competitive level,it really shows how one dimensional this game.

How much longer do you all think JT will be a top tier SF? Really thinking about getting him but scared of buying him and his value dropping quickly since he’s been out awhile.
