A critique

Most of the community wont see this and some wont even bother reading this but regardless , this is my last post/interaction here and I'll try to keep it short.

For about 2-3 months here on the subreddit I spent my free time trying to help out prospectives with their queries related to multiple topics , frequently even answering the same old questions again and again because you guys dont bother to check previous posts because you might accidentally actually find what you're looking for. I tried my best to be polite and friendly and im not trying to glaze myself here , its just how it is. Everything was fine till the last few days or weeks when I started to realize my efforts bore no fruit, ppl here will continue to flood the subreddit with the same old questions again and again, sometimes through questionable click bait titles and othertimes not even submitting a post body, as if we are to assume the details of their questions.

I could not bear to control my thoughts any further and made a couple of posts and various comments addressing the issue and to my disappointment, I actually got clowned upon by multiple people. Just today i got comments such as "seniors dont reply to actual queries and ignore actual posts". I was not surprised, just disappointed at you guys. People genuinely take the time to bother replying and for what? replies like this. The upvote ratio in the thread clearly shows how many of you dont respect the effort and its rlly apparent . I'm not gonna swear or call u guys anything, im not even angry, im just disappointed that what I did ends up with me being the guy who "doesnt reply to actual queries and makes long ahh rants". Alright then , I did nothing at all and i wont bother doing anything again. Suit yourself and stay happy with whatever you guys enjoy.

Congrats to those who got in, and to those still waiting, gudluck , although with how it went with me I might be inclined to say I'll enjoy how the merit increased and ppl like you dont get in, you dont deserve to get in. A couple of weeks ago i was a bit interested in getting into orientation and even welcome management for you guys, but i ditched the interview for that and I realize its a good thing, you guys arent worth spending 3 days in the heat for, u guys dont deserve to have a good welcome party either. I was even excited to try to hang out on orientation and organize something but theres just no point knowing no one respects you. Not sure if anyone knows me personally or my personal dep details but do not approach me irl if u do know, I have nothing to do with yall .

To other seniors reading this, I apologize if it comes off as a foolish post but I just cannot with this batch 2026, its evident why the moderation is dead as well, no one wants to or should bother moderating this subreddit.

Signing off, peace.

Please guide me out anxiety is killing me

Assalam o Alaikum everyone,

I feel really embarrassed writing this here, but honestly I have reached a point where I don’t know what else to do.

I am currently studying BS Computer Science at NUST and I am about to start my 5th semester. Until a few months ago, my father was supporting my education and our family. Around five months ago, he suddenly suffered a severe heart attack. We spent almost everything we had on his treatment and also took loans. He later underwent bypass surgery, but unfortunately my father passed away around two months ago.

Since then, our whole financial situation has changed.

My father’s pension has still not started, we already have debts from his treatment, and right now we are basically managing our household expenses with a lot of difficulty. I am also trying to do whatever work I can alongside my studies to support my mother and manage my own expenses.

The problem is that my 5th semester fee is around PKR 225,000, and at this point there is absolutely no way for us to arrange this amount.

I have already approached the university scholarship/financial aid office and NAA and tried whatever options I could, but unfortunately I was informed that the relevant assistance is not being awarded this year.

I really don’t want to leave my degree after reaching this point. Completing my education is honestly the only way I see myself becoming financially independent and being able to support my mother in the future.

It is very difficult and embarrassing for me to ask here, but if anyone can help me with the semester fee, even partially, or can lend me some amount that I can repay gradually once I start earning, I would be extremely grateful.

If someone wants to help by paying the university fee directly, that is completely fine as well.

I can provide all verification including my NUST student ID, enrollment details, official fee challan, my father’s death certificate, medical documents, and any other proof required.

I have genuinely tried every option available to me before posting here. I just don’t want my education to stop because of something that is currently completely beyond my control.

If anyone can help, guide me toward someone who can, or even connect me with any donor, organization or person who supports students in such situations, I would be really grateful.

JazakAllah Khair for reading.

Subject Minors in NUST

How do minors work?

Like what is their duration and fee structure.

Do you take them during semester or in summer break?,

Can you apply in 1st semester?

Also are they useful? For example taking CS minor whilst doing EE.

Can Any senior help me out

Abaya or dress

Should I wear abaya or dress? Myfamily is suggesting me to wear abaya as it is more comfortable and full pardah HOTA Hai as they had wore at their time .. Now the thing is I'm way more comfortable and confident in dress and I myself feel that I'm looking good in dress which is important! Idc about anyone and I just want to look good Infront of meee and I have that feeling when I wear some eastern attire not a abaya ..

However,my family concerns are that if I wear dress I have to do alot of shopping as there should be at least 14 15 outfits . So they want me to wear abaya as it would be decent and don't need to worry about outfits etc ...

Disclaimer:- No one is forcing me they are sharing their opinions. But I want to wear dresses to feel comfortable!! Also I'm not wearing dresses to gain attraction of something else. . I just want to wear it for myself

I beat it to mahmood sahab daily will LUST accept me?

Sooo quite a lot of info here, I'm from Bangladesh, did my IGCSE here then moved to Malaysia and did Foundation in design there. Shortly after I did 2 semesters in bachelors in computer science (cybersecurity) but didn't like the environment. I got a few homies in pakistan and was considering going to NUST to continue however I saw that NUST needs HSSC and stuff I don't really have those certifications,

And so I was wondering if foundation in design qualifies for that?

As for NET, since I have done 2 semesters in BCS already is it possible for me to transfer directly? Would that still mean that I would have to give NET?

What are the total costs over the entire course? How much is the living expense?

What jobs could I get nearby as a part time worker?

Would really appreciate answers regarding these and feel free to add any other detail that could be useful!

Thank you for your time.

Gap year

Why did the merit change so much this year? Why? I was completely safe. I bought clothes, shoes, everything. My fee got refunded due to a glitch and I went to nust to pay it again. All this for what? 5% inflation in merit? I worked day and night. All my friends, cousins and neighbours are going to nust while I’m just watching them even tho I gave my everything to it. Even if I get admission next year what’s that gonna change? Bring back my spark? I can’t find a reason to go on anymore

Some eye opening facts/advice for yall

Isn't it weird to think, when YOU yourself went to give that NET exam in a hall filled with people totalling almost a 100, most of them didn't make it and maybe out of all of those 100's there were maybe 2 or 3 in that exam hall who actually made it and one of them was YOU.

Take this as a sign to be grateful for all of the hard work you've done and to Allah. And to the people who haven't made it yet, please be patient. Don't open Reddit constantly trying to find the next predicted closing merit or trying to make calculations in your own head of what the next merit list might close at. You're just gonna end up stressing yourself and making some dumb decisions (I know I have).

You've done the hardwork now. It's all upto Allah to grant you your reward. Relax and be grateful that you managed to succumb all the hurdles and score wonderful marks and obtain an outstanding merit position because alot of people didn't, or did but couldn't make it due to fee issues and what not

be hopeful
Godspeed my friends

Fast's subreddit is dead so asking here.😭....!!???

What is ur take on this ?

I see a lot of people criticizing FAST for its facilities, curriculum, academic pressure (“ragra”), and campus life. People keep saying that the quality of education at FAST is getting worse and that FAST is basically torture.

I’ve also seen FASTians themselves advising students not to take admission there.

Is FAST really that bad? How difficult is it actually? Is the workload really that extreme, and is studying at FAST not worth it anymore?

Can a FAST graduate still get a good job and build a successful career?

I’m specifically asking about the FAST Islamabad campus. I’m really confused about whether I should choose FAST next year or not.

This is why you lost your seat even if your mp is high --- PLEASE READ YAAR

I noticed a lot of people waiting for NUST lists don’t know this and there are many posts in which kids are still CONFUSED.

If you get a LOWER preference (e.g. 3rd preference) but are waiting for your 1st preference, you STILL HAVE TO PAY FEE for the preference you were offered. THEY WILL UPGRADE YOU ONCE YOUR NAME COMES IN HIGHER PREFERENCE.

If you don’t pay (FOR THE LOWER PREFERENCE) by the deadline, you can be REMOVED from the selection process, meaning you WONT BE CONSIDERED for upgradation to your higher preferences in later lists.

For example:

1st: Biotech

2nd: Environmental Science

3rd: Agriculture

If you get Agriculture first THEN PAY for it. If your merit position later gets you Biotech, you’ll be UPGRADED.

Also, if your preferences are across different schools (e.g. Computing AND Engineering), and you’ve already paid for one but later get the other, EMAIL NUST about transferring/adjusting your fee.

PleasE DONT SKIP PAYMENT JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE WAITING FOR HIGHER PREFERENCE.

if you don't get in higher preference, then you can continue with your lower preference program or refund fee.

Not related but I guess similar boat

So the thing is during university Iam regular in my prayers. Like wake up at 4 am shower pray Fajr 10 verses of Quran then intermediary study and getting ready till uni time. Everything goes smoothly i find time for duhr and asr ( usually at the mosque for duhr ). I go gym between the time slot till magrib. Shower in the gym eat something go home and pray at the mosque near my home. Usually do some house chores and go sleep. This was my routine even during a levels but I have found it hard to continue this routine when there is no uni (like summer break esp). Like my mind just doesnot put in any effort i binge watch shit series. I don’t use any types of social media WhatsApp is only on my laptop that too web so can’t receive calls. My phone remains on aeroplane mode when at home. I have no devices in my room. I genuinely seek advice from any brother understanding my situation, your help is really appreciated
