Y7 Class Cancelations

Hi! Over the past month, almost all of my Y7 classes have been canceled by the studio.

Does anyone know what is going on? I’m curious if the instructors are on strike (if so I’d support them and hope the studio gets their sh!t together).

LMK if anyone has insight!

Looking for bodybuilding gym near soho!

Hi all! I am an aspiring bodybuilder looking for a serious bodybuilding gym near soho. I would like it to have that hardcore bodybuilding vibe, and a posing room is a non negotiable. My budget caps out at around $130 a month, but I’m willing to pay a bit more for a good gym in nyc. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Pilates Studio Review: Gramercy Pilates

Gramercy Pilates
39 East 20th

I have only attended once and the class was decent! It’s a great location and classes don’t cost an arm and a leg but that’s because most of their instructors are still in training and are not being paid for their time. In fact, they are actually paying to teach your class. The more I learn about this studio the more questions I have. They claim to be a classical studio yet their graduates don’t seem to know the classical order and they don’t seem to understand it. All they need to do is accept they are a contemporary Pilates studio and label which of their classes are taught by instructors in training and many of my issues with them would be resolved. One of their main instructors claims to have experience as a dancer, which is untrue. I have also seen one of their lead instructors place a pregnant woman on their stomach. They claim to be a leader in training Pilates instructors but I continue to feel more strongly that they are misleading clients and students and upselling their experience and expertise.

Aesthetic: 3/10
Authenticity: 5/10
Difficulty: 5/10
Value: 5/10

*Please purchase directly from local studios as much as possible, apps such as MINDBODY and CLASSPASS take a cut from local studios already struggling to make ends meet

BK Gym Recommendation?

Hi!! I’m looking for gym recommendations in Brooklyn specifically crown heights/prospect heights/Atlantic Barclays area or anywhere along the 3-4 trains really. My budget is around 140-150 per month
I’m mostly into weightlifting and would ideally find a place that doesn’t get suuuper crowded (tough to find I know) and isn’t super bro-y if you know what I mean. If anyone has any recommendations please suggest!!

Heated classes recs

Practice Room fired my favorite teacher, Claire, and it’s challenging to find women of color whose playlist has hip hop, EDM, or rap music. Does anyone have recommendations for teachers or playlists? I’m not interested in hearing Taylor Swift sorry…

Lifting classes? Non-beginner

I am not new to fitness or even to weightlifting but I just find myself so much more motivated in a group setting with the threat of a cancellation fee over my head. Please don’t recommend apps or at home/gym solutions — I have used the Peloton app and LOVED it for so many years but am more into leaving the house these days.

Thinking in the vein of classes I love: Barry’s double floor, Liftonic, Traphaus, F45. I also have a Solidcore unlimited membership but am looking to expand my classpass selections!

Thank you!
