Financial Aid

I still haven't received any financial aid offers. I have been checking leo online everyday and still nothing. Does anyone have information involving financial aid because I'm starting to get worried. I have tried calling and emailing the financial aid office but still no response

Double Majoring (Biology + Geology)

hello everyone! I need some advice since I am currently planning to major in biology and then minor in geology, but now I wonder if I should turn that into a geology major and double major. I am unsure of all the work that goes into double majoring but I wanted to get advice from other people that have double majored or thought about it and if it’s something I should do or not. Any advice is good advice! Thank you!

FA Award Notification of Disbursement - What does this mean and what should I expect?

Hey everyone,
I just got an email from ODU titled “FA Award Notification of Disbursement.” From what I can tell, it says my financial aid has been disbursed and mentions that if I don’t plan on dropping below full-time or withdrawing, I don’t need to do anything.
I’m a little confused about what happens next.
Does this mean the money has already been applied to my student account?
If I have a credit balance, how long does it usually take before the refund is sent to my bank account?
Is there anything else I should be watching for in Leo Online or my email?
Has anyone recently gone through this, and how long did it take for your refund to hit after receiving this email?
For context, I also recently had a tuition reimbursement/adjustment approved, so I’m not sure if that changes the timeline at all.
Thanks in advance!

I feel like a post grad failure story

It’s been 7 months since I graduated from ODU. I always imagined myself working in my field (business administration). I specifically imagined myself as an administrative assistant at some corporate office in Richmond or DC. But instead I’m still stuck in the same small city I always lived in and I was denied all the positions I applied for that I really wanted. I managed to luckily land a job as a part-time bank teller. I honestly don’t mind the job, but I hate being part-time. I’m afraid to leave because I don’t think I would get hired anywhere else. No one else even gave me a chance. I feel like a failure, I’m only making $14 an hour. I try to stay positive, but life definitely sucks at the moment.

Don’t be like me if you’re still at ODU. Please do internships to get experience. I didn’t do any internships and I’m screwed.

Financial Aid Offer

It’s July 1st. The fiscal year has ended and still no offer 🙃. This is literally my last year and I need to know if this is the end of my journey lol. But for real what is going on!

130M BLUM

Hello y'all, this actually isn't a message for all of /odu, it's for people who were in my 130M summer class.

If you were in this summer class, you already know what I am referencing. Dm me I'm trying to find students who took this class and see if anything can be done.

Calls about registering

Is this normal for ODU (Global specifically) or a sign that enrollment is way down?

I got a voicemail with awful sound quality from ODU telling me that there was still time to register and then another call today.

I picked up today because I always answer my phone unless it's already flagged as spam when my kids are out of the house (I think this is one of the reasons old people get scammed so much 😅)

It's a loud call center, I can barely understand the guy, he can barely understand me. He says he's from ODU and tells me I need to sign up now so I can get my financial aid.

I say I'm not on fin aid and to have a nice day.

He starts pushing about how I need to sign up for classes and keeps trying to pin me down on an exact date I plan to enroll. "Have you heard about the new eight week asynchronous programs!"

I say yes, that's why I took the summer off so y'all could figure that out. He asks if I've spoken to my advisor about this concern.

I tell him to have a nice day again and end the call.

I know classes fill up, but I only intend to take ONE class the first 8 weeks to see how it is (part-time student, full time everything else here) and if I don't get one I need, it's not the end of the world to work on my other professional dev stuff outside of ODU until the next session.

What in the world?

Question about ODU Health Insurance

I am no longer on my parents health insurance and do not know how anything doctor related works honestly. I am trying to get blood work done/then prescribed meds for my mental health if all the labs turn out well. I do have a primary doctor, but do not have insurance (other than ODU's student insurance), so I would have to pay out of pocket. My question is, how do I use the insurance I paid for through my tuition? I know ODU has plans with Anthem, but cannot find a way to access my plan details.

Also, can I use this insurance at my primary care doctor, or is it only for on campus? And if it is for on campus, can they do blood work and prescribe depression meds? Sorry, I am confused about this all and any help I would appreciate!

Are degree verifications for ODU instant through Student Clearinghouse or is it always pending review?

Asking about a degree that should have been conferred in 2020. I'm waiting on someone to provide verification but it wasn't instant and now a review is pending. is that typical for all degree verification requests for ODU? can anyone confirm that they've requested a verification and it was instant?

Year 2 CS Vs. Year 3 CS

Hello, everyone!

I'm a CS major coming from my Associate's at TCC and I'm transferring to ODU, but I feel like I'm gonna suck moving forward.

If anyone at ODU is taking CS, what is it like coming from my Associate's to starting my Bachelor's? How much more difficult is it in comparison? How's the quality of the education over how it was at TCC/other community college?

Thank you in advance.

I’m going to be the first to ask, has anyone that graduated this spring gotten their diploma yet? I was told they had started mailing them out June 12th.

26-27 Online Enrollment Status Issues

I'm in global and I tried to change my 'Expected Enrollment Status' in the portal using the typical form but it has me as expected 1/2 time for both 2027 summer eight week chunks. I never planned to take summer courses and when I called financial aid to see how to fix this they said I need to fill out the summer adjustment form but it first of all does not ask you how many credits you are taking like the regular adjustment form and is not even updated for summer of 2027 yet. I know it's a bit of time away but I don't want it to mess up my financial aid for fall and spring as I rely on those. Does anyone have any answers or advice? Maybe an idea on when the summer aid adjustment forms will update for 2027?

Did everyone enroll into classes for the fall term? (Specifically for online classes)

To be honest I’m just curious if anyone was still “procrastinating” enrolling into their classes. I don’t plan to till mid July.

Online Course Costs

My advisor put me in an online course for introduction to visual arts instead of an in person class. Will the cost differ at all?
