What is underrated/overhated in DC?

As a long time fan of DC (10+ yrs), im sure we all can agree, that the series is getting stretched on for too long, we want more canon episodes, more BO, less fillers.

But now when ive caught up all the episodes (to ep. 1201), i think i would feel empty and sad when this series will end one day, maybe im too impatient, instead i should be enjoying what is being offered to me right now. Something I can always look forward to every Saturday.

So, my take is, i actually dont mind the fillers anymore, some fillers are actually funny and still interesting, fillers are overhated imo.

What do you think is underrated/overhated in DC?

Gosho Aoyama’s work.

Many people say that Gosho Aoyama is exploited by Shogakukan, but why?

I don’t think he is being exploited, honestly.

Also, it’s not true that they bought the rights to Detective Conan.

Who started spreading this false news?

I think some people should be more optimistic.

Have a nice day.

Detective Conan Movie Timeline

Recently i've been binging the movies from 25th to 28th. And i have noticed this even before those movies; the canon for series and movies are starting to merge? There were a lot more callbacks and flashbacks that needed the main series knowledge more than ever before. After the Pentagram movie, we even included Magic Kaito storyline now.

My question is, if i want to rewatch DC series (i did watch it long ago but stopped at a few hundred; I don't even remember. After that i only watch the BO-focused cases and arcs), should i watch it alongside the movies in one linear timeline?

For example maybe watching the first few arcs and then the first movie, then the next arcs, and then the next year's movie until the latest series and movies to date?

Or maybe there's one specific movie that starts this trend to merge the timeline where i could start from. Since i barely remember any middle movies anymore. I remembered the 1st through the 6th movie very well though.

Am I crazy or is Scooby-Doo invading Detective Conan territory now?

I haven’t actually seen Go-Go Mystery Machine yet, but from everything I’ve heard and seen about it, it weirdly feels like Scooby-Doo drifting into Detective Conan territory.

The anime-inspired style, Japanese setting, mystery-focused format, folklore/yokai angle, gadgets, and overall vibe just make the comparison pop into my head immediately.

Maybe I’m completely off, but I can’t be the only one who thought this.

Childhood DVD collection

Turns out some of these are pretty rare so I decided to list them on ebay. Figured I'd show off my collection one last time before I sell it off lol

Ran & Haibara topping Most Popular Animation Character Poll on Weibo in 2026

On the character polls on weibo (huge chinese social media site) for january to april 2026, Ran and Haibara are topping the list with 2,9 million and 1,8 million votes respectively.

For context; weibo's ACGN section has a daily character poll for most popular characters, so while the list does change every day, the consolidated results across months get published from time to time. Ran & Haibara are consistenly among the top since at least 2025.

I am officially caught up(Putting under Spoilers just in case)

I don’t know if the Rum arc is considered finished yet, so I’ll be putting specifics under spoilers just in case.

I took a bit of a break from reading the manga, stopped just before the Kyoto school trip arc, which was a well thought out if not bittersweet case, but I’ve spent the last couple weeks finishing up the manga, and I’m finally caught up.

Some cases that stood out to me were the following:

  • The Azure Throne Case: Wasn’t expecting the latest Kaito case to turn into a murder, let alone that >!Kid would disguise himself as Shinichi/Jimmy to help with the investigation. I know he’s used this disguise before in the anime movies, but I believe this is a manga first? Either way, it was fun seeing how Kid got out of this one and how close Hakuba was to figuring out the full ruse.!<
  • The 17 Year Old Truth: It was interesting to get an insight of the night of Koji Haneda and Amanda Hughes’ murders from Kuroda’s POV. >!Especially that tidbit of Wakasa’s real name being Rachel Asaka. I wonder if Aoyama thought, since he chose the English names for the Funimation dub, that Rachel was a name so nice he’d use it twice!<>!😂!< >!Either way, it’s clear she has a one-track mind laser focused on revenge for her adoptive mother, targeting anyone associated with the Black Organization. Would explain her fixation on Haibara. I’m hoping she can be convinced to be an ally against them, but it looks it’ll take a while before we can fully trust her.!<
  • The Attaché Case Railway Murder: I’ll be honest, I was not a fan of Momiji Ooka. I understand her role was to create tension in the “Will they? Won’t they?” for Heiji/Harley and Kazuha, and she serves it well, because all I kept thinking was “oh no, not her again” when she shows up. Her butler Iori, on the other hand, is a different story. I actually like the relationship he has with Momiji and seeing how they met was actually sweet. Also how he, Heiji and Conan got around the culprit listening on the earpiece was pretty smart😀👍
  • The Magnet Beads and Paper Bird cases: These cases stood out partially because of the NHK special done on Aoyama-sensei. I know it’s obvious to some here that Aoyama tries out the tricks he uses before putting them in the manga, but it was cool to see how he does it, and how he puts his experience into the characters(like Kogoro/Richard getting tired from a long hike😂) The special even had segments of the chapters made into motion comics voiced by the anime seiyuu. So when I saw these tricks in their respective chapters, it clicked that these were the ones featured in the special. >!Also Chihaya splashing water in Takagi’s face in the latter case is hilarious out of context!<>!😂!<
  • The Masked Ball Murder Case: Gives a neat insight into Chihaya and Jugo’s relationship, as well as how close Takagi is to becoming like Matsuda if he isn’t careful.
  • - And finally, the Haunted House case: It was fun seeing Shinichi and Ran as kids in a flashback case again. >!Wasn’t expecting to see Amuro and Matsuda with the cadets take on this case, but it was a nice surprise!<>!😄!< >!Though now that Amuro in the present knows that Conan is Kudo, I worry what that may mean for his double agent role as Bourbon!<>!🤔!<

Honorable mentions go out to the play director and actor murder cases: >!never tried the pizza trick in the former, and I’m happy to see Heiji and Kazuha finally confess their feelings in the latter!<>!😍!< >!Also nice twist with Kazuha’s mom disguising herself as her daughter, I was almost expecting it to be Momiji pulling a fast one!<>!😅!< >!Well played, Mrs Toyama, well played.!<

Now that I’m caught up, it’ll be interesting to see how things shake up from here. Though given recent irl news, I imagine we’ll be waiting a while 😔

What are some stuff you want in the series to happen?

Mine are

  1. Yusaku Poisoned Mail Arc (Yusaku gets mail that put him in a coma for a long time also eliminates the Yusaku joker card)
  2. Kaito Kids Last Act Arc (Kaito slowly retires after he finds out the truth about his father etc with Conan and becomes a normal kid for good maybe tagging alongside Conan for some cases)
  3. New Sub Antagonist (One that kills and maybe is a thief so we can have thief and murder mystery in the same episode)
  4. The Great Purge Arc (Massive conflict between the BO and Conans side many ”fluff” characters end up dying)
  5. Family Shenanigans(Like Kaito and Shinichi learning they are related etc)
  6. Kogoruo suspicion arc
  7. Kogoruo actually solving cases arc
  8. More Ran suspicion arc

And That’s basically all for mine
