Hello guys, I’m new here and wanted to ask handheld gaming lovers about your experience.

The last handheld I really played was the PSP. Since then, I’ve only been gaming on PC and laptops. Right now I already have a desktop with an RTX 3070 and an ASUS G14 OLED laptop with an RTX 5060, i really care the performance.

Recently though, I’ve been wanting to game late at night in bed because my girlfriend wants me to stay beside her instead of sitting at my desk all night 😅

That made me interested in handheld PCs, but I’m not sure if the experience is actually different enough compared to just using a gaming laptop in bed.

So I wanted to ask:
- Does handheld gaming really feel more relaxing/immersive when playing in bed at night?
- Is the comfort and “pick up and play” feeling actually that much better?
- For people who moved from PC/laptop to handhelds, what surprised you the most?

I’m currently considering the OneXPlayer Apex, but I’m also wondering if I should wait for the OneXPlayer X2 Mini instead.

Also, I want honest opinions about OLED screens. My G14 already has OLED and it looks great, but honestly… I still can’t clearly tell the difference between OLED and LCD during normal gaming. Is OLED really one of those things you only appreciate after using it for a long time? Or is it overhyped for handheld gaming?

I get DM asking if I am happy with super V or how well it runs. I only tested red dead redemption 1 and resident evil requiem so far. I got super V only 48 hrs ago so I will get a chance to test more games later.

I like using devices with less heat, less power, and less fan noise. I dont use full maximum power to get 200 fps etc even with my desktop.

Red dead redemption1, 1440p, 25W can get over 60fps. No fan noise, temp around 55C or less.

Resident evil requiem. I could hear fan noise over 60C at default fan setting. I struggled to keep the temperature low without lowering the TDP. I ended up increasing power to 35W, changed fan mode not to make noise until the game reaches 70C.

I tried all resolutions, optiscaler using XESS 2, and also FSR 4. I dont like upscalers. Both xess and fsr make the game look way too blurry almost as if they are running at 420i resolution from ps2 era. Increasing sharpness option in optiscaler didnt help much either.

After trying all the options, the best setting I found was 720p resolution without upscaler, and download REframework mod, set the sharpness option there. 720p with high sharpness make it look better than 1440p without sharpness or 1440p with fsr4 or xess. It also gives me 55-60fps at Leon section with lots of NPCs.

1080p using the same option above can get 35-45fps.

Overall, 720p with sharpness option gave me the best result in both look and the fps. I am personally ok as long as I get above 45fps so maybe I will increase the resolution to 960p and play but I didnt notice any difference in terms of how they looked so maybe 720p is the best. It is a small 14” display anyway… with iGPU.

I am thinking about buying Apex and wondering if there are frequent updates? Do they update their drivers?

I got a few issues with super V and need help.

1. internet doesnt work while usb C power is plugged in. As soon as I unplug it, it works again.

2. I cant access the fan profile. I was told to press Y on keyboard but it doesnt do anything.

My Apex is extremely picky when it comes to booting. For example, my 145w Ugreen powerbank cannot boot the Apex, but my 65w charger can. Heck, even the USB C port of my off-brand monitor is able to boot it.

I don't think those are rated for 20V/7A. Something else must be going on that prevents most powerbanks from booting the apex.

I’ve downloaded multiple different drivers asked Claude what’s the issue followed all the steps however it’s still not working, ai says it’s a chipset communication error but that’s the limit of my expertise I have no idea about software I’m very hands on and hardware type of guy if it was a ribbon cable misplaced I’d fix it but this is so tedious to me, please can anyone help?

I just read about OneXPlayer and I feel excited. I own Steam deck and Lenovo Legion Go S. I am looking for the upgrade. My main focus is 60FPS at least in recent titles with native resolution. Would you recommend any to me, please?

My X1 Mini will not start up anymore unless I connect it to the power adapter. At that moment the battery charge reads 100% now. Still if I then remove the power cable from the device it suffers a hard shut-down, and will only be able to restart some time after I reconnect the external power, I was thinking about opening the device to disconnect the battery in an attempt to reset it, but can only find teardown schematics for the X1 (pro). Can anyone point me to a disassembly for the X1 Mini, or does anyone have any other solution in mind?

Currently have both XAX and Apex. I love the power on the Apex but the sticks and hand placement seem much worse for FPS games compared to the Ally. Any tips to help with this?

Why are you selling your apex / have sold it?

I'm having a problem where sometimes, even with a full battery charge, my Apex only turns on if I plug in the charger, just to power it on. After that, I unplug the cable and it continues working normally. What could be the problem? Has anyone else experienced this issue?
