Been a year riding!

Been a year riding!

Last year every day I sit in traffic and would look over and see bikes fly by in a practically empty express lane! I decided to take the MSF class and get my motorcycles license.

I put 16k on it commuting and easily one of the best quality of life things I have bought. Took my commute from average 2 hour and 15 minutes to just under an hour utilizing the free express lanes for free!

Still afraid to wheelie and loop the bike 😂

Got my first superbike. Its hell of a feeling!

Always had a dream to own a super bike and today I am able to have one. I have noticed you become more humble and calm when it comes to handling this machine! Hope to have some really good times on this beast. Yet to install protectors. Hope to meet fellow riders in Kolkata!

What do you guys think about this KO lightning exhaust system?

Hey guys, I bought this z900 off someone last week and the only thing I’m questioning is this full exhaust system. I’m not educated on the cheaper exhaust systems, so if anyone out there running this system or something similar, please let me know of how it’s holding up.
I’ll for sure swap out this muffler for something with a db killer, it’s a little too loud as it is right now.

Side notes: I’m also reverting some of the modifications made my the previous owner, I don’t like these bar end mirrors. Other than that I’m enjoying this bike, it rips lol.

I need more info about this. What is the name of the broken part? Is it clutch axle and do i need to take apart the whole engine to replace it or is there another way?

Help identify this Z900 exhaust

Recently bought a Z900 that came with this exhaust, but I have no idea what brand or model it is.
I already tried Google Lens/Image Search with no luck. It sounds amazing, shoots flames on decel, and pops a lot, so I’m curious what it is.
Does anyone recognize this exhaust? Is it a full system or just a slip-on?
I’ll attach a few close-up photos from different angles. Any help identifying it would be appreciated!

Slowly but surely getting there!

Finally getting things setup how I'd like. Most recently added the foe puig, larger windscreen from Aliexpress. I'm very pleased with it. I also added a cheap subcage recently which did exactly what I got it for after a kickstand mishap. Next upgrade is the rear shock and fork internals swap. Getting hyperpro installed. Some may ask why I didn't get the SE. Well simple answer, I hate all the green and I got a steal on this leftover 25. Upgrading still keeps me below MSRP of the SE.

Procton levers

Can anyone vouch for the Procton levers for a 2025 Z900? I haven’t seen this brand before and it’s hard to find quality levers for the 2025 model.

Aliexpress windscreen 2025+

Posting this since someone wanted to see additional pics. I purchased my windscreen which is a clone of the puig from Aliexpress. Paid $36 USD. Figured if it was junk, it wouldn't be a big loss. Anyhow, didn't come with instructions but it's relatively straight forward and you could in fact use puigs instructions. I did ditch the mounting posts which separates the OEM screen from this one. It installs over the top of it. I had some generic windscreen spacers and just added my own longer M5s. Big improvement in wind deflection a high speed. Also more to tuck behind. It's solid. I got the light smoke.

Danke euch!

Took off the decals and put on a slip on!

I got a silver truck so this match perfectly!

This eBay Akrapovic (aka Awkward pelvic) exhaust looks really high quality and it’s a one piece design, and the carbon fiber looks really good too.

Yeah so it happened:) engine cover question

I fell with my bike , 2026 model, and im mas as hell cause for weeks ive been looking for engine cover protectors but I cant find any for 2026-2025 model. I've asked the internet and it says that from 2018 to current gen engine covers are the same, what do you think? Will 2022 puig covers fit my bike?

Z900 2025 - quick shifter

Has anybody else had problems with the quick shifter on the z900 2025 ?

It’s never felt completely right since I bought it brand new in February tbh.

The downshifts (blipper)are smooth 99% of the time, but the up shifts feel way off.

It will shift up with a very clunky feeling at around 3-4000 rpm, which is understandable.

However, whenever I really get on the gas and try to upshift at 6 -7k + rpm like you’re supposed to, the shift lever doesn’t budge and feels solid against my foot.

I usually end up giving up at this point and just pull the clutch in to change gear, which obviously works fine.

Anybody else experienced this?

EDIT: whiteferrari689 suggested in the comments that my problems could be from too much clutch free play.

I decided to check and not only was my free play way too much, but the circular nut which locks the adjuster nut in place was actually loose. WTF.

I adjusted the free play to what it should be and tightened the nut properly.

I road to work this morning and the quick shifter was smooth as butter every single time

Feel like an idiot tbh.

Exhaust smell normal?

I did a full exhaust and tune, with 2wd, and after about a month I seem to be very strong on exhaust smell while riding. To the point where, shared office space, getting complaints of my jacket/bag smelling from colleagues.

Well I understand it is normal to have a stronger smell, with the cat gone, i'm not sure how much is normal. First bike with a full exhaust, so nothing to compare it to.

I've gone through and tighten all the bolts, to the best of my knowledge I do not have a leak. Did paper and water/bubble test a plenty. I plan on stopping at the dealership tomorrow to have a mechanic take a look, as it was my first time doing this.

Before I go the route of sending the ECU back to 2WD, I wanted to see if what I'm experiencing is normal and I should expect it.

To be clear, cold starts are extremely strong and riding after cold start for the first 10-15 (which is the length of my morning commute) minutes has a smell when stopping. After that, I only occasionally get a wiff if the wind blows it to me at a light. Even turning the bike off, sitting down to eat and turning it back on, the smell compared to cold start is reduce like 80-85%.

Am I within normal experience? Is there something wrong? Could it just be the bag/jacket being porous and absorbing the smell (I wear the same jeans all week and they never have a smell). I did a wash of the jacket and within 2 rides the smell was stuck on it. Wanted to see what other 900 riders experience is.

Vent

So I decided to swap out my springs for a stiffer one and a higher viscosity oil and the shocks sucks to work on if you dont have any specialized tools, I have the normal 2024 model and the non adjustable side you need a special hex tool to remove a piece and a shock compressors which we didnt have so we kinda ugga dugga it the adjustable side was even worse, with the adjuster and spacer being really hard to compress back down. What should have taken 2 hours max took 8 hours between 2 days. Would not work on it again myself

Kawasaki Z900

I’ve ridden bikes for nearly 20 years and this has to be my favorite one I’ve ever ridden.
