which is the right order when making a turn in g2?
signal-mirror-blindspot-change lane, or
check rear mirror-blindspot-signal-change lane or
the order doesnt matter?
do you need to check the rear window per 10/sec?

He guys just passed my test at Simcoe, I was wondering how many mistake I made and what was my score
Hey I had a question in regards to turning left when the light turns yellow. If the light turns yellow, and an oncoming car speeds through the intersection, do I stay put until it passes (I assume so to avoid an accident)? If the light turns red, before they pass will I be docked on my road test?
Hi everyone,
For the route I took, please see this post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ontariodrivetest/comments/1vs3uku/oakville_g_test_route_august_2026/
I was successful on my first attempt today. No more DriveTest Centre.
Other words of advice for prep and otherwise:
Check your ego and book a few lessons with a driving school. I took 3 spread out about a month before my road test.
Pick a date ASAP. If you want it done before the snow hits, make a booking. Sooner is better than later.
Late G2 -> G folks: Do it ASAP.
Night before the exam: Chill. Focus on doing the exam and not so much thinking about it. Get a really good sleep and wake up a few hours before so you are ALERT and ready to go.
I drove on the highway prior to the G road test quite a bit. Driving on the 403 on my way there ensured a look at what the traffic was like.
Drive test day: I had my road test today at 1:07 PM. It was originally booked for 12:55PM. Check in about 25-30 minutes early, use the bathroom if you have to, then wait in the car.
I'd probably advise a test time between 10AM - 11AM right now as you beat morning/lunch rushes. I had no choice when I booked mine.
Hello! I have my g test in Etobicoke coming up. It’s scheduled for 10:44 am - can someone tell me how traffic on the 427 is like at this time?
I also heard that if you start the test with your car parked reverse, that you can park forward when you are returning from the test. Can someone confirm please?
Also, if anyone can give any tips, I’d greatly appreciate it 🙏 thank you!!
I have a G test at Port Union for 8 am next Friday. My driving instructor is telling me that it's gonna be really busy. I tried rebooking but the next available date is September 29th, I need it before then.
I've also done my G2 test at Port Union at 8 am and it went just fine. Would it be fine not changing the time?
hi today I failed my g2 test, understandably I made a mistake that was an automatic fail. im just wondering if I didn’t make the mistake would I have passed? also any advice for my next test, I’ve rescheduled it and it’s in 10 days!
I also don’t know why the summary for disqualification has the parking skills checked when that section has no checks or x?
I’ll start by saying I did pass the test so this isn’t just me complaining that I failed, But overall the whole experience was terrible. First of all my examiner was 40 minutes late, which is fine I get it’s busy but she was extremely rude. No polite greeting or apology for being late, which again whatever. I then proceed to do the test, it’s going perfectly, I didn’t speed at all, stopped before the lines waited 3 seconds, kept checking my mirrors. Then on our second go around on the highway I merge to the left lane then she tells me to merge back to the right. In the right lane right before the on ramp there was a semi truck stalled, within seconds of noticing this she yells at me “WHY AREN’T YOU MOVING OVER” which caught me off guard. She then proceeded to yell at me the rest of the test for waiting a couple seconds before switching lanes for the semi truck. At the end of the test she told me I failed and started yelling at me again, which is when I actually argued back explaining that it was not safe to merge back to the left lane since there were cars coming. She agreed to pass me but continued berating me that I broke the law and to never do that again. Saying stuff like if I ever hit someone then I should be responsible to take care of their family. When I got home I looked it up, turns out she was completely wrong. The only vehicles you’re required to move over for are emergency vehicles and tow trucks, anything else you only move over if it is safe to do so. Which it was not in my case.
Hello everyone!
I just completed and passed my G test today at the Oakville DriveTest Centre and wanted to share the route that was in my test (hopefully it helps!).
My test was scheduled for 10:45 AM, but it was delayed and we ended up starting around 11:20 AM.
Turn right out of the DriveTest parking lot onto Wyecroft Rd.
Examiner told me to move over into the far-left lane.
Turn left at the lights onto Third Line.
Stayed in the left lane for a bit, signaled, and moved over into the right lane (the examiner won't tell you to do this, but it is expected you do so on your own).
Examiner told me to move into the most far left lane and turn left at the lights onto Kings College Dr.
Examiner instructed to turn left onto Giles Rd.
Turn left onto Brays Ln, went through the stop signs, and followed the road around the circle (examiner did not ask for a 3-point turn or roadside stop).
Examiner asked me to head back toward Third Line (I took a right when I got to the main intersection).
Turn right onto the on-ramp for Hwy 403 / QEW Hamilton (I merged at ~90 km/h as I could not safely get to 100 due to traffic, and I let the examiner know and she said uh-huh xD).
Examiner asked for a lane change to the left, then back to the right.
Take the exit for Bronte Rd.
Examiner told me to stay in the far-left lane on the exit ramp.
Turn left onto Bronte Rd. Examiner told me to stay left.
Examiner told me to take another left at the traffic lights to get onto the on-ramp for Hwy 403 / QEW Toronto (traffic was clear this time so I was able to merge at 100 km/h).
Examiner asked for a lane change to the left, then back to the right.
Take the exit for Third Line (examiner instructed to turn right at the lights).
Drive back along Wyecroft Rd and turn into the DriveTest Centre.
Final Parking: Examiner asked me to just pull up to the side of the wall (was not asked to reverse or parallel park).
Good luck to everyone taking their test soon! Let me know if anyone has any questions c:
From my understanding if you come from the left entrance (west) your only allowed to turn right.
Edit: Sorry I meant left entrance.
I know if you enter from the bottom left lane your should only be allowed to turn left
I'm soooo stupid at the very end when parallel parking I almost hit a cone and he hit the brake :(
I was most confident in parallel parking, should've just gone slow :(((
How often do spots open up for rebooking a test? I saw one for August 29 but someone took it immediately 😒.
I’m confused, can i drive on the Highway with my G2 license that i recently got?
When you’re exiting the highway and you’re in the centre lane, are you allowed to turn right at a red light? I couldn’t find any answers on the MTO Driver’s Handbook website. Taking my G test this week so any help is appreciated! Thanks!!
I have failed my G2 for the 4th time now.
The third time was a proper mistake. I grazed the cone. I admit it.
The other three times, I have always been failed for being too safe.
One time, I waited to take a right turn because I wanted to make sure there were no cars coming. But cars kept coming, and they were pretty close. The instructor said I shouldn’t have waited that long and should have taken the right earlier.
Then, the left signal arrow in front of me turned orange. I stopped, but the instructor said I could have passed. And thus, I failed for stopping on a green (it turned orange before I could take a turn)🙃
Another time, I was at a stop sign and stopped properly before taking a right. A car infront of me came after I had already stopped. It wasn’t their right of way, but they decided to turn left anyway. The instructor failed me because apparently I should have prevented that from happening?
And another time, I was failed because I apparently don’t give signals early enough. This has literally never been an issue with me, neither during lessons nor on any other test. But apparently, I give my signals too late, and that was enough to fail me.
All three times, other than the third time, I was told it was “too many mistakes” and failed.
I genuinely don’t know what I’m supposed to do anymore. I’m trying to be cautious, follow the rules, and drive safely, but somehow I keep getting failed for being too cautious or for things that feel completely outside my control.
I am honestly so disheartened. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to change at this point.
First time was Orangeville, last three times were Etobicoke.
I just got my BC N and am moving to Ontario soon. Will I be able to exchange it for a G2 License? N and G2 are equivalent but I want to make sure I can exchange it without any additional road tests in Ontario. AI overview told me I have to have held the BC N for a year to automatically get a G2 but I couldn’t find that information on any of the official websites.
I have foreign driving experience.. I got my G1 in 2021, and based on my foreign driving experience, I was allowed to take the G road test directly. I attempted the G test in 2022 but unfortunately failed.
I currently still have my G1.. am I still eligible to reattempt the G directly, or do I now have to take the G2 test first?
Could someone please guide me on what the process is for my situation and whether my previously credited foreign driving experience is still valid?
I had an argument with someone that your not supposed to change lanes in this roundabout. Cause if you start from the left you must turn left.
For context the right lane and first exit was blocked for construction but the 2nd exit was still open so they wanted to go straight and argued that the broken white lane means they can cross
I failed my G exam last year. My G2 expires on 2028. I cannot seem to have the courage to do it so far. Maybe it is laziness, fear of failing again or both. How do you overcome this?
hi i have my test tomorrow and im so so so scared is there like any tips or stuff that i should keep in mind aside from normal road rules pls pls pls anything helps thank u 😭😭😭
I lost my physical G2 card and have my G test today, will I be able to get a temporary one printed by the drive test centre(Peterborough) before my test?
