Failed g2 question parking

Hello, so I failed my G2 test and have a question.
When I was doing my parallel parking, I ended up a bit too far from the curb. I asked the examiner if I could readjust, but she said no. I thought you were allowed to readjust your parallel park if you didn’t get it right the first time. Is that true?

Saw FLASHING RED lights at Keele & Sheppard - Which then TURNED GREEN... Is it a GLITCH?

I was driving through the intersection of Keele & Sheppard and noticed something unusual with the traffic lights.

The light was green at first, but by the time I reached the intersection it was already red. I came to a complete stop at the red light, and it stayed solid red for a 20-30 seconds. After that, the red lights started flashing briefly in all directions, and then the intersection returned to normal operation and continued its regular cycle, turning green shortly after.

What's strange: During the flashing red phase, I also saw a few drivers continue straight through the intersection on the Flashing RED. They came to COMPLETE STOP and then went STRAIGHT on FLASHIGN RED. To me it seems they treated it like first-come, first go. But the lights TURNED Green in few seconds anyways.

Does anyone know what causes this?

Is 11hrs enough to pass g2 with an instructor

I only practice with my instructor as my parents are too busy for work and can’t teach me. Is it possible to pass with just these hours? And no outside practice.

edit: I want to add I’m completely new to driving, please stop bringing up how your kids or yourself passed with teaching from parents. I literally can’t practice with other people outside of my lessons, bringing that up is irrelevant as it doesn’t apply to my situation. I just want to hear from people who only took lessons without prior experience in driving

G License Test Question

Hi Reddit,

I have a G License test scheduled soon at the Etobicoke location, wish me luck.

I've seen some videos on Youtube that records the entire test which is very helpful. My question is, the reviewer just asked the person being tested to drive a highway and not city driving like the G2 test. Theres no parallel park or 3 point turn but just straight to highway (2 highways) and back to the test centre. I thought the G test license will test you on the highway and what you went through the G2 test which includes city driving.

Is this the case for every G test routes?

Thanks in advance!

Is 10h of driving practice sufficient to pass G2?

Long story short, I have no one to practice driving with, other than with my instructor using the required 10h from my driving course.

Do you think that 10h is enough to pass G2 (in Mississauga if that helps)? I really don’t want to pay for additional lessons as they are around $75 an hour from what I’ve seen

G1

Hey Reddit members, so I went to the downsview drivetest and passed my G1 yesterday and they handed me a temporary paper licence until the real one is mailed in. But they never asked me to take a picture. I’m confused so I just left. It’s been years since I had my licence, can someone tell me is there like a new method or something I’m missing here? How can I have that photo is without a photo taken??

Need help determining my score

So I had my G2 test today at Port Union, and I failed because I didn’t check my blind spot before leaving the curb when I performed a downhill parking maneuver, and I didn’t come to a complete stop at the stop sign near the Dollarama entrance. But if it wasn’t for these mistakes, would I have still failed? I want to know my score. Thanks

Why does the MTO make it so hard to obtain a license, that people commit grand theft auto to drive the cars they want to drive?

Everyone gets failed for ridiculous and obviously fabricated reasons, forcing you to own a car to take your G2, but you can't register one without a G2 LMFAO, $1500 rental fees if you don't have a car, and don't get me started on refusal to accommodate people on their tests. I am seeing a growing number of people who are being forced to locate their dream cars and stealing them in order to experience the one thing keeping them alive. When will the rules change so that everyone that can't live without driving is able to experience it, and lower the death rate.

G2 fail - Toronto Metro East

I have taken 15-20 lessons. This was my first G2 attempt. I do not have access to a car to practice apart from instructor lessons.

My major mistakes:

  1. Went 37 in a 30 zone ( got a verbal warning). I honestly remember seeing the speed sign and do not even remember how I accelerated to 37. Maybe it was the nerves.
  2. Driving instructor mentioned I passed too close to a parked car for which she asked me why I did that. I just apologized. I did not even notice that I went too close. Maybe it was the nerves or I just did not realize that I was too close.
  3. She did not like my turns. I cut corners and turned wide based on the feedback.
  4. Missed a right signal. I honestly do not even remember how this happened. Don't know where this happened.
  5. My parkings were not good. This one I already know. I still do not have the hang of parkings.
  6. Apparently I only used mirrors while backing during parking. This is a bit perplexing as I was checking a lot apart from mirrors and visibly turning my head.
  7. Steering control was choppy. This my driving instructor with whom I have been taking lessons has also previously mentioned.
  8. I also got checked for right of way self. Do not understand this one completely. Maybe it is for the 3 point turn. During the 3 point turn 2-3 cars came on my right and I tried to complete it quickly as I did not think there was enough space for them to pass. And she said at the end my 3 point turn was not a 3 point turn. I basically did not do it in 3 swift motions but took one extra reverse and then turned left as I was worried about hitting the curb.
  9. Incorrect vehicle position for parking on a grade is a bit baffling for me as I assumed I had pulled over correctly and angled the wheels left for uphill. I was near to the curb too.

Based on this sheet, does anyone have suggestions to improve apart from practicing more.

Appreciate any helpful feedback. Thanks

Just failed my G2 today at port union feeling really discouraged

I just failed my G2 today at Port Union. I was doing everything fine until I messed up my parallel parking. The examiner started raising her voice at me, and I got nervous. I forgot to check my blind spot before leaving the curb and she had to brake immediately because there was a car coming. After that, I lost all my confidence. I also missed a stop sign near the Dollarama entrance. I’m feeling really discouraged.
I know it’s not the end of the world, but I can’t help feeling disappointed because I was really hoping to pass.

For anyone who failed their G2 the first time, how did you get your confidence back? Did you change anything before your next test or did you just keep practicing and try again?

Downsview g1?

Does Downsview do G1 tests? I checked their website and every center doesn't explicitly say if they do g1 tests or not, has anyone gotten their g1 from there recently? And should I book an appointment?

Edit: Can you take it on saturdays?

Question about parking g2

Hello, so taking my G2 road test in a bit and I heard
If I reverse park my car before the test starts, will the examiner usually see that and only ask me to do a front park during the test? And vice versa if I front park before the test, are they more likely to ask me to reverse park? Is this true?

Passed G Test at Toronto Metro East

Hello! I passed my G test earlier today on my first attempt at Toronto's Metro East location. Since prior to my test I read all of the posts here with information on the route, I wanted to share my experience in case anyone is preparing now/in the future and comes across this post.

I was scheduled for 11:28am on a Friday, and we got started about 10 minutes late (which was quicker than I was expecting). My examiner was extremely kind and friendly and clearly tries to to ease test takers' nerves, which I appreciated. I know some people have had bad experiences with examiners, including at Metro East, but for both my G2 and G I've had really considerate examiners.

Regarding the route: We exited to the left onto Victoria Park and turned right onto Lawrence. There was a lane change left and right on Lawrence. I got up to 54 briefly on the downhill, but the majority of the time I was between 48-53. From there, it was the North/South DVP route (DVP North to York Mills, DVP South to Lawrence East). There was moderately heavy traffic but I was able to complete lane changes left/right on both segments of the DVP. On the way back on Lawrence, I didn't have to lane change to the right, only to the left when we got closer to the left turn. Coming back into the plaza, we took the left turn AFTER the Carnforth intersection, and I was asked to front park anywhere. Didn't seem to check the parking before giving my results since it's not part of the test, I was a little crooked but within the lines - not sure what would happen if you weren't in the lines lol.

As for scoring, I got six minor marks - four of them being the same mistake, which was not signalling 2-3 seconds early on the freeway before a lane change. He told me that I was waiting until there was a gap in the lane to my left to start signalling, but he advised me to signal even when there's no safe gap and just wait for someone to make room. I wasn't sure if that was proper procedure prior to my test (I thought it was ministry standard to only signal when the way is clear per your mirrors, then check your blindspot, then go), but he confirmed you should just signal and leave it on until you can go in heavy traffic. My other two marks were because I turned too wide onto Lawrence from Victoria Park and ended up in the middle lane (it was a double red so no possible conflict, but still poor form ofc). I was too worried about hitting the curb and ended up way overshooting. I just lane changed to the right immediately and we continued as normal.

I got my G2 two years ago (which I took 10hrs of lessons for), and I didn't do any lessons for the G, but I kept my notes from the G2 lessons and reviewed the MTO handbook before starting intensive practice for this test. I practiced for about 15-20hrs over the last few weeks, mostly just driving on the DVP and practicing the routes as well as parking in the plaza.

I hope this helps anyone looking for information prior to their G! Tried to provide all relevant info, but lmk if you have other questions. Good luck!
