A reminder that this group was revived after 6 years of dormancy , moderator is a volunteer, more moderators welcomed.

I'm the very new moderator of Oregon Camping.

I responded to a post that this group needed a moderator. It's been dormant for years. I already have a lot on my plate, but decided to volunteer, because I do love Oregon Camping and didn't want this subreddit to go away.

So I volunteered for mod duties, and this was my first post here several days ago. Enough people read the post that, even though there wasn't quite as much response as I was hoping, I decided to keep trying: I made new rules for the Reddit and I have a discussion prompt or helpful post scheduled for every Monday for a few weeks, to try to get the group revived.

That's my story. If after a few months the group continues to flounder, I'll stop posting and let it die.

What the group needs most is contributors: for you to post your advice and your stories about camping in Oregon. And another moderator or two would be great - people who like the rules, like the focus, and are willing to make sure posts are on topic.

Your first experience camping in Oregon: where was it, when was it, what was it like, have you been back?

What was your first experience camping in Oregon? Where was it and when was it? Was it in a tent, a hammock a yurt, an RV, what? Were you with a group or alone? How old were you? What was it like? How is it different than camping now? Have you been back?

West Side Mt Hood

Wondering what the air quality is like these days, and mosquito populations are like near Timothy lake and surrounding campgrounds. Has anyone been recently?

2 hours from Portland

Suggestions on kid friendly, low mosquito risk tent camping within 2 hours of Portland area? We just camped at Barview Jetty campground and had a blast. Would love to try somewhere other than the beach.
