Over $800 for foglights!

So im getting the oil changed and tires rotated when they tell me my foglights are broke and need replacing.

So i see the price they had and i google the aftermatket upgrade and say "better options are half the price. No thanks"

I drive to a parking garage to see what it going on myself and BEHOLD!!....the lights work fine.

Should i report this? If i wasn't so careful i might be out 800 bucks. Imagine if i 100% trusted the mechanic.

Fog lights

Hey, so I've got a 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness, and I hit a deer the other day – totally blind spot, put a hole in my passenger side fog light. Anyone got recommendations for aftermarket fog lights that are way better than the stock ones? I've been looking online but don't really know much about them, so any suggestions would be awesome.

RalliTek Skid Plates Installed '26 OBW

The fuel tank ones are in the mail, I'll pop them on later. Fitment is perfect. Install is straightforward, it uses robust factory mounting points, no more finicky plastic push pins.

Side awning

Hey folks, I'm looking for purchasing advice (USA) on a side awning for my 2025 Subaru Outback.

Use case: daily use during 4mo overlanding trip, large enough to comfortably shade a 4.5x2.5 table that I sit at, quick setup and takedown for a single person, and reasonably sturdy for normal wind gusts and mild weather.

I'm thinking something rack mounted with two legs, preferably not requiring drilling my roof rack, 6x10 or 8x10, and off brand for cost/value purposes. These are just first ideas- totally open to suggestions and feedback.

Here are some of the models I am considering on Amazon:

Thule has a standard model built to fit the Outback that looks great but $850 seems preposterous and unnecessary.

To many choices

I would like to ask the hive mind their 2 cents on getting a 2026 wilderness with wheels and tires vs getting a limited xt lifting it (LP adventure or what you would use) and wheels and tires? Is there a big difference in mpg, ride quality, costs, maintenance, anything that may have surprised you. I’ve owned a 2023 Outback onyx and the ride was sooooo nice vs the same year forester. I Am so conflicted oh which way to go so I seek guidance. I want a lifted outback but which way to go is confusing. I am buying at the end of the year so I have time to weigh the options, and when I test drive I will know what to look for. Thank you.

What scanner do you guys use?

Going to be doing the CVT fluid on my 24 OBW soon and I'll need a scanner to get the car to the right temperature and possibly do a transmission relearn. Anyone have a good one they use?

Just traded my 2 months old 2022 OBW for 2026 OBW

We really liked the 2022, but the previous owner didn't really take good care of it. Was highly likely a heavy smoker. There's this cigarette smell we just can't seem to get rid of even after a full interior detail and two ozone treatments. Good for a week but it comes right back.

There was also this passenger rear door that has the sensor go off saying it's open when driving. Brought it to the dealer 5 times in the 2 months trying to get it fixed, but we said enough is enough, and decided to get the new one instead.

I was not a fan of the new design initially, but the Wilderness-ness makes it better and I'm starting to really like it now. The Ride is just better, not to mention the new infotainment system.

We lost a few thousand in the trade-in, but we plan on keeping it for longer now, so hopefully it'll treat us well. We will definitely treat it like a baby.

Our comfy set up

This is our set up. We can sleep two (relatively) big people - 5'11 and 6'1 - in this space. Of course this isn't meant for more than like 4 days, but it has worked wonderfully. We can pack everything we need for camping and kayaking.

We've tried a few different beds but this is the most comfy and I prefer it because it blocks the metal brackets that hold the back seats and works at a "leg pillow".

I didn't have the whole outside setup when I took the pic. I just didnt want to forget to take pictures while everything was still in the car.

As always, love this car!

Whiteline rear sway installed

Took about 20-30min, super easy. Car handles a fair bit better now. Feels less boaty around corners. The stock end links seem fine with it but I’ll keep an eye on them.

Weird substance dripping down inside of windshield

A couple days ago I noticed this unknown substance had dripped down the inside of the windshield, apparently from inside the headliner. It was a little sticky and didn't have any odor. The photos show it today after it had dried. It was somewhat difficult to scrub off. Any ideas what it could be?
