Are Owlcat games best appreciated after all patches?

Hi there! I got Rogue Trader and its DLC, and I'm very excited to play it.

I'm new to Owlcat games to some degree. I've dipped my toe in WOTR, which I think is just brilliant, but only after all of the updates and support were complete.

In your opinion, is it better to wait until Rogue Trader is completely patched up (and unfortunate decisions, like the recent launcher, have been rescinded?)

Or is it more fun to do multiple runs, seeing the changes along the way?

Thanks a lot!

After playing Rogue Trader I’m convinced they could do a Star Trek themed CRPG and now I want one so bad

As I was playing through RT, I kept feeling like this could have easily been a Terran Empire/Mirror Verse Star Trek game, with your companions being your bridge crew, zipping around to new systems and scanning planets and going on away missions.

Especially with some of the narrative in DLC 3 and the themes around the Nuncias arc. It was, at least for me, such a beautiful tale that felt very Star Trek in the message (at least for an Iconoclast RT).

And knowing Owlcat is cooking up the Expanse game too, I’m just so stoked for that and feel they could do a Star Trek game justice.

That’s all, thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Plz Owlcat, make a Star Trek game 😭🥲🖖

Chapter 4: Footfall graphics error.

Hi there, I have been playing Rogue Trader on the Nintendo Switch 2 and come across this error. Unable to generate a bug report and can’t find any sort of support email for Owlcat games so I am posting here.

When going to footfall in Chapter 4, it takes quite a while to load up, and once it has done so, the screen is black, the menus are messed up and returning back to the main screen gives a strobing white effect. Seen in pictures.

I have tried loading older and older saves to see if it was just the latest auto saves but no, even going back and the whole beginning of Chapter 4 and going to footfall, still exact same graphical errors.

Is there anyway a dev of Rogue Trader can help me out please?

Question for people who have finished the Dark Heresy beta playtest

When it shows you the little aftermath of your investigation reports, are the redacted ones supposed to be the ones where you found "the truth"?

I appreciate stuff can change between now and final version and that sometimes choosing who to blame can have interesting consequences (supposedly at least) but I was curious in case I didn't understand what they were trying to convey.

Hymn of the Lost | Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

Hymn of the Lost

In His name, we hold unflinching

Armed with faith, our will redoubt

In His light, our toil unending

Oaths we honour, duty-bound.

(Zarkov) Dead and lost forever

(Andja) Taken from us, too

(Ruban) Perished, all is lost

All gone within a hidden tomb

We’ve all been forgotten (Cursed by the past)

Repenting and rotting (Down to the last)

A duty weathered down to dust

We serve because we must

The game and bugs after the last patch/update

Extreme loading times when turning the game on and losing save games sometimes even to 15/ 20 min loading times. Cutseens not working or starting combat not working properly. I have around 230 hours and last time I played was after lex came and I finished an campaign.sent bug reports even on discord messages and no feedback. The game for me is unplayable thing that worked form beta now don't.

The launcher in Rogue Trader is rolled back.

We hear you.

The game will now revert to the previous patch, completely removing any Launcher-related changes. Thank you for your feedback, and genuinely sorry for the frustration caused.

To the people who made a fuss about the launcher

Review bombing and making a fuss for a launcher?

It is this kind of behavior from people that adds up and contributes to price increases.

Let them do their marketing if this will bring people to purchase more of their other games.

You don’t deserve studios like OwlCat, you deserve Ubisoft like companies.

Edit: I was doomscrolling when I saw the news and came here to make this post.
I just got to know that they even gave the options to disable it !!!! Outrageous!

Today is a great moment to become a Lord Captain if you still haven't — the Steam Summer Sale begins today and lasts until July 9, with discounts on Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader and its additional content going up to 65%!

Owlcat: The launcher is a bad idea, and isn't necessary. Please walk it back.

Not much more to say besides that. Game launchers are annoying enough to deal with in Multiplayer games, I don't see the point in having it for Owlcat games

Too much text in dark heresy

I read books so it's not like I am illiterate but there is just far too much text. I find myself being fatigued after reading the game for a little bit not because of difficulty but because it all seems so useless. The amount of text that there is in this game and the amount of information that you get from the text is abhorrent. It's also not helped by the fact that as an inquisitor paying close attention to things is your M.O. meaning that you should scrutinize the things people say to you, and they say so many things to you it is hard to separate the wheat from the chaff.

another problem is that the dictionary system is an excuse to be lazy. I should understand the world through the copious amount of text I am reading interacting with characters, to have to mouse over whatever proper noun embedded in the 5 paragraph long conversation only to then be met with a paragraph of text explaining this proper noun. These things should be integrated into the game so that I can understand through play.

The text is not a novel which usually have a rigorous editing process where every sentence is meant to do something. It doesn't feel this way in the game obviously it's not a novel but it reads unedited.

There is just a vast amount of text and it seems to do very little for how much reading there actually is in this game. I like the game the world is cool it just feels like an editor or engaging with other tools to convey information would be useful for this game.
