Is Daisy really seen as more of a pet name than a human name in the U.S. and other countries?

Hi everyone,

I recently became a U.S. citizen. As part of my naturalization, | legally changed my first name to Daisy because I thought it was beautiful, simple, and easy for Americans to pronounce.

One thing that has been stuck in my head happened during my naturalization interview.
After I passed the citizenship test, the officer asked me what name I wanted to change to. I said, “Daisy.”
He looked at me for a few seconds and kind of stared. I asked him, “Do you like that name?”
He replied, “I don’t know… it feels like a cartoon name.”

At the time, I didn’t think much of it. But after I got home. I realized that Daisy is consistently ranked as one of the top 3 most common dog names in the U.S. I honestly had no idea before choosing it.

Since then, I’ve spent hours reading posts, articles, and discussions online. I keep seeing people say that Daisy is a very popular name for dogs and cats, and now I can’t stop thinking about it. I feel like every time I introduce myself, people might think of a pet first.
I know Daisy is also a real human name, and there are women named Daisy, but I’m having a hard time getting past the pet association.

Now I'm feeling really sad. Every time I hear
"Daisy," I immediately think, "That's such a common dog name." I know it's also a real human name, but I can't stop thinking about the pet association. It's making me question whether I made a huge mistake.

I'm even considering going through another legal name change, even though I just finished all the paperwork after becoming a citizen.

So l'd really appreciate some honest opinions:
• If you met a woman named Daisy, would your first thought be "dog name"?
• Does Daisy still feel like a normal, professional adult woman's name?
• If you were in my situation, would you keep it or change it?

I think I’ve been overthinking this for a while now! Has anyone else ever experienced something like this? Am I worrying too much, or would you consider changing your name if you were in my situation?

Please be honest. I'm feeling pretty emotional about this, and I'd love to hear how Americans genuinely perceive the name.

Thank you very much!

I have a theory that Imajin and Lina from Doki Doki Panic are actually the original rulers of ancient Sarasaland, making them the ancestors of Princess Daisy.
