Need Advice on Study Strategies

Hi, I'm an IPG who started preparing for the EE with PharmAchieve a month ago, but now had to transition to the MCQ due to the policy change. For individuals who have used Pharmachieve for MCQ and passed on the first attempt, could you please share the strategies and study plan you used? Also what other additional materials did you use besides pharmachieve notes? As an IPG, I'm relatively new to this and would appreciate any sort of guidance on this. Also, I will be studying full time so I can dedicate a lot of time to prep.

Is my plan actually achievable??

I'm currently 18 and a permanent resident of Canada (turned this year) .I plan to be a pharmacist in future but cannot do pharmacy in Canada or in India because I did not have 12th grade biology .I need to do it and next year I'll take admission in pharmacy technician because of PR regulations I've to stay 730 days in Canada out of 5 years after 3 years I'll go to India to do B.PHARM,then I would prepare for PEBC licence.

I've posted my whole plan .

Please share your views and guide me.

PEBC OSCE scope of practice

Hi, I’m kind of confused about what they will test us on in the OSCE. What exactly is the scope of practice since it’s a national exam? This always confused me. For example, would we be expected to adapt or renew medications. If so, what exactly falls under adaptation? If I remembered correctly you can only adapt if it’s a new prescription not a refill. Is that correct? If there’s a very detailed list of things we would be listed where can I find this information? I’ve looked at the sample videos on the website but there’s nothing that talks specifically about adapting or renewing medications.

Which course did you choose for the PEBC Qualifying MCQ—PharmaSpirit, PharmAchieve, PharmaGate, SolRx or Misbah?

Hi everyone! I’m an IPG preparing for the PEBC Qualifying Exam Part I (MCQ), and I’m having trouble choosing a preparation course.

I’m deciding between PharmaSpirit and PharmAchieve for the PEBC Qualifying MCQ. I’ve heard PharmAchieve’s MCQ notes are quite similar to its EE notes, so I’m leaning toward PharmaSpirit.

Has anyone recently used either course? How were the notes, classes and question bank? I’d also love recommendations for any other course that helped you pass. Honest reviews, please!

Need advice for MCQ preparation.

For those who passed the MCQ with confidence, how did you prepare? What was your biggest regret during your preparation, and what was your best trick or strategy?

I built a strong foundation during my EE preparation, and I focused on understanding the topics rather than memorizing them. Now that I’m doing MCQs, everything seems familiar, but I know the way the questions are asked is different.

I would really appreciate it if you could share your advice and experience.🌺

Pebc MCQ Nov

Hi, I am a Canadian grad who recently graduated in April but unfortunately did not clear both MCQ and OSCE in May. I had gotten pretty sick this year and was not able to prepare as well as I had hoped. I am hoping to write the MCQ in November and have started studying but I wanted to join a group to discuss topics with those who are also writing the MCQ in November! Pls DM me if interested.

New PEBC EE exam update — what does everyone think?

I don’t really have a dog in the fight, but I wanted to see what the general consensus is around the new PEBC update to remove the Evaluating Exam (EE).

I do think it could feel unfair to Canadian pharmacy grads who are paying $100k+ for a pharmacy degree. Now the number of internationally educated pharmacists potentially entering the job market could double or even triple the competition they’re facing.

I’m just speaking from the perspective of someone who grew up in Ireland and studied pharmacy in the UK. When I was graduating, pharmacists in Ireland were making really good money because demand was high. At the time, there were only 3–4 universities offering pharmacy, so the number of graduates entering the profession was relatively limited. Then the pathways became more accessible for EU/UK pharmacists to practise in Ireland, followed by increased recruitment of pharmacists from other countries. The market eventually became extremely saturated. There were fewer jobs available, and pharmacies knew they could offer lower rates because there was a much larger pool of pharmacists looking for work.

You can see a similar situation in the UK, where there has been a lot of discussion around pharmacist oversaturation and the potential impact that increasing the supply of pharmacists has on wages and working conditions. Obviously, Canada is a different country and there are a lot of other factors involved, so I’m not saying the exact same thing will happen here. But I do wonder whether PEBC has considered the potential impact on the Canadian pharmacy job market.

Who were the stakeholders PEBC consulted with, if any 😂. Why do you guys think they decided to go down this route? In the UK, a union/professional organisation like the PDA would at least have the opportunity to advocate for pharmacists and be involved in discussions around changes affecting the profession. Is there anything comparable in Canada that would have had a seat at the table for this kind of decision?

I’m also really curious about what people think this means for the MCQ and OSCE. Do you think there will eventually be changes to the content or difficulty of either exam? The blueprint was only updated relatively recently, so I’m wondering if this change will lead to any further changes to the assessment process.

Also, I love that they made the EE “optional” 😂 because realistically, what are the chances people are going to voluntarily sit an additional exam if they don’t actually need to? For those who have already completed the EE or are/were on attempt 2, 3 or 4 -how are you feeling about the new changes?

And finally… 😂 I might be a little cynical here, but I do wonder whether removing the EE will ultimately mean more people entering bridging programmes, which obviously benefits the institutions offering those programmes.

Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts and opinions.

Removing EE =/= Standards Lowered

Maybe I haven’t looked into this enough but from my pov, removing EE really is not that big of a deal.
- I don’t think removing the EE is suddenly going to flood the market with IPGs. Historically, IPGs have had a much lower success rate on the MCQ/OSCE compared to Canadian grads.
- If anything, removing the EE could lower the pass rate initially, since there may be more people writing the MCQ who may not be as prepared.
- I’m a new Canadian grad, I’m licensed, I have my job secured, etc. I personally don’t see this as threatening to my career at all.
- If an IPG can come here and demonstrate the same competencies, then they deserve the same job opportunities. We’re not entitled to anything just because we’re Canadian-educated. It makes no difference to us if they take an extra exam or not.
- I work with a lot of IPGs planning to take the exam, they balance a lot while studying and I’m happy that PEBC made it at least a little easier for them to get licensed.
- I understand why people who already passed/took the EE might feel slighted. But I also think you should consider that taking the EE gave you the opportunity to experience a real PEBC exam environment, figure out what worked and what didn’t, identify your weaknesses, and become familiar with the testing process. If you stopped feeling bitter for 5 seconds, you’d realize those are all things that should theoretically put you in a better position going into the MCQ/OSCE compared to those who didn’t take the EE.
- I understand why some people might feel it’s unfair that Canadian grads spend $100k+ on tuition and feel like PEBC is catering to IPGs. But I also think part of what we paid for was the education and opportunities we received during those years. And IMO, the difference is reflected to some extent in the historical pass rates.
- Also… especially for the OSCE, but also for everyday practice in general; being a decent person will help you A LOT as a pharmacist. Communication, empathy, professionalism, being able to deal with difficult patients, etc. are all important parts of the job.
- If you feel resentment toward IPGs because they no longer have to take the EE, I’d personally spend some of that energy working on the people/communication side of pharmacy too. Clinical knowledge is obviously important, but being a good pharmacist is about more than just knowing the side effects of a drug and how to answer a clinical question.

Is my Local Indian License required for PEBC evaluation?

I’m a Pharm.D graduate from India (September 2025) and will soon be going to Canada for my Master’s. I haven’t applied for my Indian pharmacy license yet. When I eventually apply for PEBC, will I need an Indian pharmacy license for Document Evaluation or any later stage? Or can I proceed with PEBC without ever being licensed in India?

MCQ dilemma

Hi. I am currently thinking if I should just cancel for November MCQ exam. I am studying thru pharmachieve but I still have infectious, managament, and GI subjects that needs to be covered. This is my second reading but I feel like I am not doing well enough since I am only relying on PharmAchieve. I work as a Pharmacy Assistant so studying is somehow challenging. Please enlighten me and provide me tips and tricks on how to pass the exam and is pharmachieve enough?

PEBC BRIDGING PROGRAM

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the PEBC Bridging Program for internationally trained pharmacists.

For those who have taken the program, how did you find it? Was it helpful in preparing for and passing the PEBC MCQ exams more easily?

I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences and any advice you may have.

Thank you!
