P0340?

Sooooo, yesterday had an experience of the car bucking between 1st and 2nd gear.

Pulled the code and got P0340

It's a 2006 PT GT Turbo

How screwed am I?

Thanks in advance!

Check this one out...

This one looks like a special PT to me, 2003 GT with a 2.4L Turbo and a manual 5-speed. OEM throughout and really low mileage. I would jump on it myself but it's literally on the opposite coast from me and simply too far for me to take advantage. I'm posting here just to let everyone know there are still some great deals out there and I'm just lending a helping hand. Good luck and I hope someone here can take advantage. 👍

2007, 2.4l, 70k miles, sat for a long time. Mouse nest in the TIPM not pictured. Any advice appreciated. Seem to have missing grounds and or a bad TIPM.

Passenger fender well in photo. Is this a ground? It's not in the list of ground locations as far as can tell. have a few issues that seem related, like a missing ground/TIPM issue.

  1. OBD2 port doesn't power a scanner, even with 12v and Grounds.

  2. Hyperflash for the passenger turn signals even though they are correct and not burnt out.

  3. A/C clutch doesn't engage. Even with jumping the low pressure switch wires. Could be unrelated, mentioned anywyays.

2005 PT Cruiser - codes P0032, P0038

Driving home and the battery light came on (voltage monitor showed 11.5v so not charging). Checked codes once parked and get P0032 & P0038 and no attempt to start. Tried clearing codes but they immediately reappear.

Earthing points looks good and checked relays. Is it just replacement ECU time?

I love PT Cruisers. Never owned one. Should I buy one?

I have loved PT Cruisers ever since I had one as my starter car on Gran Turismo 3 when I was about 10. Everyone who finds out it’s my favourite car immediately dunks on it so I am always defending them. I think they are beautiful and unique looking, I particularly like the purple ones.

I’m now 34 and have some savings and realised as I’m an adult I can buy one if I really wanted to. And I’m very tempted. I’d only use it for short journeys, I just want to enjoy owning one (and drive around playing Buck Rogers full blast, iykyk).

I’m based in the UK and there are usually a handful for sale on Autotrader. However I know they are all old and they generally have a bad rep. So if I’m really going to do this, I know I have to do my research. And where better to ask for advice than here?

So if you were going to buy a PT Cruiser for the first time, what are the main things to be aware of?

What should I be keeping an eye out for as positive/negative on online listings? What in particular should I inspect/test if I go and view one? What would be advisable to fix up once I get one?

Any advice appreciated, please help a gal fulfil her dream 🙏

I got my dream car 13 years ago today.

This was a good day for me. I still have her.

Intermittent rough idle?

2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, have had it for about 6 years and for the past 3 or 4 years of owning it, I've been dealing with an intermittent issue of the car idling very roughly and nearly stalling. It seems to come and go without any clear cause—sometimes it will develop a rough idle out of nowhere and then it'll disappear for months. When it's having a rough episode, the engine is only rough at idle and will smooth out when I give it gas. I've replaced the PCV Valve, replaced the main intake hose on the air filter, cleaned the IAC Valve, and cleaned the throttle plate in the throttle body but I'm still having this issue crop up from time to time. It gave me a pretty bad episode a few days ago and it's got me concerned about trying to get to the bottom of this because I'm tired of driving my car and worrying about when it's going to have another rough idling episode. I replaced the PCV value just now and during my test drive I did notice a very slight miss/unevenness during idling, but not nearly as rough as it was during the episode it had a few days ago. The only codes I have are P1684 and P0601—the car has given those codes well before this issue started happening but I'll throw those out there in case it helps with diagnosis.

How bad are my alignment specs?

Pic is after alignment was performed. Car did hit a curb somewhat hard a few years ago. It's gotten new shocks, new lower control arms, and new tie rods within the past year.

Bought some camber bolts to hopefully help a little bit although I don't think they will have enough adjustment. Any suggestions?
