Super El Nino predicted for winter - Not a good sign for PC/DV
If ocean temps truly reach 4°C above normal as top models suggest, we'd be in genuinely uncharted territory. Higher temps and degraded snow quality is more likely correct than the optimistic "more moisture = more powder" narrative. A record-shattering El Niño would likely mean Park City/Deer Valley sees a warm, wet winter with inconsistent base conditions, more freeze-thaw cycles, and the 'best' skiing pushed to much higher elevations (~8-9,000'+ levels) and even then quality of snow will not be fluffy powder but dense and heavy, wet cement.
The positive news is, a year from now the Great Salt Lake will likely have an abundance of water but it does seem like the coming winter might be on par or 'worse' than this past one. Exceptions for Alta, Snowbird - which can see significant storms - but quality of snow will be different than what many typically expect.
