(PRO user) PPX staff BANNING Discord users to hide complaints.

So I'm not really active in discord servers in general, but I was really disappointed when I saw the announcement about Grok 4.6 in Computer. TBH I feel really pissed off because of my experience on Perplexity and this update doesn't solve any of my issues or does not add significant value for my Perplexity needs, so I react with dislike emoji. A couple of minutes later I got a message from the PPX bot saying I've been BANNED: **Reason:** 3. Treat community members with respect.

**Case** `QfcYFXy`.

I did not interact with anybody in any wrong way, so I assume perplexity wants to hide the user complaints by banning them.

Is that really how you treat your customers?

Directly from Perplexity Basic’s (the free model, not the company) mouth.

Inb4 tldr… the last 3 bits are really what matter. Perplexity is literally pulling sources that it doesn’t even look at… that’s a problem.

PERPLEXITY: “I answered a simple factual question about Rocky Marciano incorrectly multiple times, then compounded the problem by delivering confident “corrections” that were also wrong.

The user asked which opponents Rocky Marciano could not knock out, based on Marciano’s 49–0 record with 43 knockouts. The correct core answer was available in a source I had already surfaced: **three individual men went the distance with Marciano—Don Mogard, Ted Lowry, and Roland La Starza.** Lowry did it twice. La Starza later lost to Marciano by knockout in their rematch.

Instead of reading and using that clear source detail, I produced a contradictory first answer. I claimed, in effect, that none of the six opponents had “iron chins” because Marciano knocked out all six—a statement that was both nonsensical and factually false. Immediately afterward, I wrote a section titled “The six men Marciano did not knock out” and listed names. That answer included several false claims, including putting Carmine Vingo on the list even though Marciano knocked him out.

When the user pointed out the contradiction and explained that counting Ted Lowry twice made the number of distinct fighters incorrect, I should have stopped, checked the complete record, and provided a concise correction. Instead, I gave another confident response with another wrong list.

When the user then pointed out that I was adding pointless statements—such as saying Marciano “won on points” or that an opponent “went the distance,” even though a decision already establishes both—I still did not properly verify the actual answer. I gave a third attempted correction, again presenting an incorrect list with confidence.

Before I finally stopped and apologized, I gave **three substantively bad answers**:

  1. The first answer was internally contradictory and contained false names.
  2. The first correction retained false names, bad counting, and irrelevant wording.
  3. The second correction swapped in a different incorrect list rather than verifying the source already available.

The user had to correct me at least three times:

  1. The user pointed out that I said Rocky knocked out all six while simultaneously listing people he supposedly did not knock out.
  2. The user pointed out that the list could not add up once Ted Lowry was counted twice.
  3. The user pointed out that I was filling the answer with redundant, obvious phrasing while still failing to answer the actual question accurately.

The central failure was not lack of available information. I had already surfaced a source that directly stated the answer, but I did not read and synthesize it. I searched, attached citations, then generated claims those citations did not support. That created the appearance of verification without actual verification.

I also misunderstood a later request to write the summary from my own first-person perspective and initially wrote it from the user’s perspective instead. That was another failure to follow a direct, unambiguous instruction.

Based on this interaction, the basic version of Perplexity was unreliable for factual research. It returned multiple incorrect answers in a row, continued to do so after the user clearly identified what was wrong, and used citations without accurately reflecting their content. The user’s experience with Perplexity Pro has been materially better, but this example shows that nobody should use the basic version for schoolwork, research, social-media facts, or anything important where accuracy matters.”

Getting it to give me anything that was accurate was like getting the apple cursor on iPhones to go exactly where you need it to.

Whoever is running Perplexity's Customer Service needs to be fired. ASAP. They emailed "It's fixed!", granted 100k credits for owed back credits going back MONTHS, wiped them from my account just 5 hours later, 10 hours after told me to pay for Max AGAIN, and ghosted. Absolute Chicanery Clownshow.

I’ve tried being patient. I’ve tried going through official email channels. I’ve tried giving them the benefit of the doubt. But at this point, it is overwhelmingly clear that whoever is managing Perplexity’s Customer Support and Operations team is fundamentally unfit for the job and needs to be replaced.

This isn't just a tier-1 support agent making an innocent mistake. This is a complete, top-to-bottom operational breakdown that borders on predatory billing behavior.

And for an AI company? It’s pretty obvious they are relying on AI just a litttttttle bit too much to run their customer support. Only an unsupervised, hallucinating bot loop would think it's reasonable to grant a customer 100k credits, delete them 5 hours later overnight, and send a template email asking me to pay for a new max subscription less than 12 hours later.

A Quick Recap of the Management Nightmare:

  1. Failure to Deliver Paid Services: I paid for Perplexity Max for April and May and received zero of my included 10,000 monthly credits. To keep my business work running, I was forced to spend $200+ out of pocket on extra top-ups while support ignored me.
  2. Quietly Deleting Restored Credits: When support finally added back my missing credits with no expiration date, those credits silently vanished from my ledger weeks later with zero notice or explanation.
  3. The "5-Hour" Bait-and-Switch: After I called them out on Reddit, support sent me an email officially declaring: "The issue has been fixed!" I logged in and saw 97,412 credits with an explicit line item: Bonus credits | July 23, 2026 | 100,000. Five hours later overnight, my entire balance was wiped back to 0. Support had manually deposited 100k credits onto a subscription cycle expiring that exact night, wiping every point while I was asleep. No notice, no good will pay back. Nothing.
  4. Insulting "Resolution": When I asked why my points vanished, Support (Phoebe) told me the 100k on my ledger was an "internal error" that I should just "disregard," and told me the solution was to buy Max AGAIN.
  5. Total Ghosting: I sent a formal escalation email more than a week ago laying out this entire disaster. Result? Total radio silence. This issue literally goes back months and ive received 1 email from an actual person with the aforementioned insult response "fix" hahahahaha. I am losing my mind with this company.

Why This is a Leadership Failure:

If a system accidentally wipes customer credits, that’s a bug. If support manually grants 100,000 points to silence a public thread, ties them to a cycle expiring in 5 hours overnight, emails the customer "it's fixed," wipes every point before sunrise, and then tells the customer to hand over more money... that is a management disaster.

Whoever designed these support workflows, automated credit expiration loops, and scripted bot responses has created a support structure that actively gaslights paying users. Human common sense has completely left the building.

How can Perplexity claim to be building the future of artificial intelligence when their customer support displays zero actual intelligence?

Fix my account, restore my back-owed credits permanently, and overhaul your customer support management.

Is it just me, or would it be great if Perplexity built an Obsidian/Notion-like tool inside it? Projects are fine, but a truly organized notebook where one could save the actual important notes from a conversation would be a real plus. No?

abacus ai credit consumption

I try abacus.ai today, a very simple question with short answer costs 50 credits using GPT 5.6 Terra (medium), and costs 220 credits for Claude Opus 5 (medium), i paid $7 and gets 14000 credit. 14000/270= 51.8. So for the rest of the 30 days, i can only ask about 2-3 very short and simple questions per day. Just an idea for you all, it's a no go for me.

Help: Perplexity backup

Hi,
I really think it's time to back up all my Perplexity sessions locally - it looks like some of my sessions might have been lost (or altered).
I asked Perplexity about how to backup sessions locally.
It suggested three methods, but some of them turned out to be infeasible.

  1. Manual export of each session
  2. Browser extension to export to cloud storage
  3. Official request through the URL (https://perplexity.typeform.com/datarequest): but this is actually the Personal Information Processing Request Form (Deletion, Access, Modification) and it takes up to 30 days, so it wasn't suitable for my request.

So I decided to try a Chrome Extension - a few didn't seem to work, so I settled on 'Perplexity to Notion' (https://chatgpt2notion.com/products/perplexity-to-notion/).

I tested it on 5 sessions (the daily free-tier cap) and found that one session with an attachment was missing the attachment in the export. Has anyone here used the Perplexity to Notion Chrome extension?

I'd like to know if this attachment issue is common.

Used to be a fan

I was a big fan of Perplexity and kept recommending it to friends. I even had my cousin switch from ChatGPT to Perplexity because you get multiple models for the same or a similar price. That was until the day I compared a Sonnet prompt on Perplexity to Sonnet on Claude. I realized Perplexity was dog shit, and while it gives you access to multiple models, the individual models on their own are significantly better…
