On the fence whether we should go to Cebu or cancel our trip.

Me and my friends have a trip planned to Cebu and Moalboal from 20th June to 29th June, 2026.
Everything has been booked a month prior, flights, hotels etc.

Two days ago, a devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck General Santos City in philippines. It has killed and injured several people (My prayers to the people of Philippines🙏🏻).

We have been looking forward to this trip for a very long time now but due to recent events we are reconsidering for our own safety. Flight cancellation would cost us a lot of money too since they won’t refund us the full cost.

My question is to the people of philippines, particularly in Cebu and Moalboal, whether is it safe for us to travel on the said dates or should we just cancel our trip and bear the financial loss for our own safety?

Afaik Cebu is far away from the place where the earthquake hit so it should be relatively safe but i’d rather hear it from the people of Cebu themselves.

1 month beach vaca location

Hey all. I am moving to the Philippines here in October. I cant wait. Before moving around and finding a new home Im going to need a nice long vacation. Especially after packing up my home and renting it out and the emotional goodbyes of visiting and spending time with friends and family one last time. So im looking for a place to just relax for a month. I am looking for beaches and hammocks and renting a scooter and just riding around beautiful nature. Place for long walks and some hikes. Relaxed and laid back. Definitely not tourist area although just outside of tourist areas is just fine. Like Bohol for example, I think thats the one or maybe its Boracay that has the 3 areas and one is luxury the second is tourist and 3rs is secluded. That would be fine just not in tourist areas.

Anyways I have Boracay and Siargao and Siquijor as possibilities so far. Not sure moalboal fits and for an entire month but maybe. Are there any other areas you would suggest and or the areas I already mentioned for what I am looking for and why they would be the best for this 30 day relax vacation? Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you think of Parañaque as a tourism destination?

When it comes to tourism, do you consider Parañaque a real destination where tourists (both local and foreign) can visit, enjoy and spend a lot of money in?

Do you think the tourism department of the city government is pro-active and smart with their duty of promoting tourism in the city?

Do you think vloggers and social media influencers do a better job than the city government's tourism officials?

Feedback on our Philippines itinerary? (1 month slow travel 🌴)

Hi everyone,

We’re a gay couple (both 35) and we’re planning a 1-month trip to the Philippines this December/January. For context, we’ll have spent 2 months in Australia and New Zealand right before this trip (starting later this year), so by the time we get to the Philippines we’re really aiming to slow things down and just relax for a while.

We’re mainly looking for beaches, snorkeling, diving, and a generally chill vibe. Not too much moving around, no tight schedules, just enjoying each place properly.

This is our rough itinerary:

9 Dec – Arrive Manila
10–11 Dec – Manila
11–15 Dec – El Nido
16–19 Dec – Coron
20–25 Dec – Siquijor
26–29 Dec – Anda (Bohol)
30 Dec–3 Jan – Panglao (Alona Beach)
4–8 Jan – Manila
9 Jan – Fly home

We’re trying to keep each stop fairly relaxed, but would love feedback on whether this pacing makes sense or if we’re packing in too much / missing something obvious.

Also very open to any tips for:

  • must-do snorkeling/diving spots
  • beaches worth prioritizing
  • places that are more “chill” vs touristy
  • anything you’d skip from this route

Thanks a lot!

Philippine Economic Growth Slows Down To 2.8% In 1st Quarter Of 2026

Excerpt: The Philippine economy grew at its slowest pace in five years, expanding just 2.8 percent in the first quarter of 2026, as the country grapples with the persistent government spending slump and mounting inflation shocks.

The country’s economy, as measured by the gross domestic product (GDP), decelerated from the 3.0 percent expansion recorded in the final three months of 2025.

It also significantly missed the 3.4 percent median growth projected by economists in a survey, and marked the weakest quarterly output for the country since the first quarter of 2021, when the economy contracted 3.8 percent during pandemic-era lockdowns.

Palawan, Philippines Trip Report (Mumbai → Manila → Puerto Princesa → El Nido → Port Barton) 🇵🇭

Just got back from an amazing trip (late April to Early May, 2026) to Palawan and wanted to share my experience for anyone planning a visit.

Flights & Transport Costs
✈️ Mumbai → Manila → Mumbai (Air India, via Delhi): ₹58,540 for 2 people
✈️Manila → Puerto Princesa → Manila: ₹23,000 for 2 people
🚐 Puerto Princesa → El Nido: 900 PHP/person
🚐 El Nido → Port Barton: 1,000 PHP/person
🚐 Port Barton → Puerto Princesa: 700 PHP/person

Total Cost for 2 people: ₹ 2L

1. El Nido (5 Nights)

Day 1
Reached Puerto Princesa and took a van to El Nido. After checking in and freshening up, we had dinner at Taste El Nido, a vegan restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing and became one of our favorite meals of the trip.

Day 2 – Tour A
We booked Tour A for 4,000 PHP for 2 people, including the environmental and lagoon fees.
This was one of the best tours I've ever done. We were only 6 people on the boat—two Filipino couples, two French girls, and the two of us. It felt very personal and uncrowded. The buffet lunch was outstanding. The highlight was the freshly grilled Queen Fish. Everything was cooked in front of us and served buffet-style on a beautiful beach. We loved every minute of it.

Day 3 – Relaxing Day
Took it easy and explored the town.
Had pizza at Bella Vita. Unfortunately, it was probably the worst pizza I've ever had.

Later visited Happiness Beach Bar for pita falafels and malabi dessert. The food here was excellent.

Ended the evening at Las Cabañas Beach with drinks and a stunning sunset.

Day 4 – Nacpan Beach
Spent 3–4 hours at Nacpan Beach.
The beach was peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed food and drinks at a beachfront café that also provided sunbeds. In the evening, we went back to Las Cabañas for another gorgeous sunset and had one of the best mango shakes of the trip.

Day 5 – Coconut Beach
Visited Coconut Beach. The beach itself was beautiful, but the drive there was quite thrilling. The road conditions were rough and honestly a little scary at times.

Day 6 – El Nido to Port Barton
The next day we traveled to Port Barton. What a beautiful and peaceful place. We didn't see a single Indian tourist during our stay, but there were plenty of travelers from Europe and other countries. The atmosphere felt much quieter and less commercial than El Nido.

Day 7 – Island Hopping Tour
The following day we joined a Tour A island-hopping trip. And honestly?
This was the best tour experience of my life.
The guides were incredibly kind and patient. Neither my partner nor I are swimmers, yet they made sure we got to experience the underwater world safely.
The marine life was breathtaking. At one point, a turtle swam right beside me. It felt completely unreal. The buffet lunch was fantastic, but the underwater experience was something I'll never forget.

Day 8 – Waterfalls & Food
The next day we visited nearby waterfalls and stopped for lunch at Kusinero Del Barrio.
As someone who loves food, this place was heaven.
Everything we ordered was delicious, and their desserts were exceptional. Definitely one of the culinary highlights of the trip.

Day 9 – Port Barton to Puerto Princesa
After Port Barton, we headed back to Puerto Princesa and spent a relaxing evening there. There’s a vegan restaurant in Puerto Princesa run by an old lady that is a must try.

Day 10 – Underground River Tour.
The next day we visited the Puerto Princesa Underground River. It was incredible. Seeing bats flying above our heads while moving through the cave system was surreal. The entire experience felt like stepping into another world.
We also tried the zipline over the ocean, which was a fun bonus and definitely worth doing.

Day 11 - Journey Home
The following day we flew back to Manila and then onward to Mumbai.

Final Thoughts
In one sentence: I didn't miss Indian food even once.
What made Palawan special wasn't just the beaches, lagoons, islands, or marine life—it was the people.
Everywhere we went, we met kind, humble, and genuinely warm locals. The tour guides were some of the most generous and enthusiastic people I've ever met. They were genuinely happy to share the beauty of their home, whether it was an underwater turtle, a hidden beach, or a freshly cooked meal on the shore.

Thank you, Palawan, for giving us memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. ❤️🇵🇭

Went for 3D2N in Boracay May 2026

I’m Filipina based in Singapore, and I truly love everything about Boracay, the calm, the chaos, and everything in between. Boracay meets you wherever you are in life, and somehow, you never leave untouched, healed and still craving for more.

Living in Singapore, where vaping is already illegal, made me realize how important stricter public smoking regulations are. I hope the Philippines, especially Boracay, can eventually implement stricter rules on smoking and vaping in public places. I noticed that many people smoke or vape almost anywhere, which can affect everyone, locals & tourist alike.

I hope there can be more designated smoking and vaping areas to help keep public spaces healthier for all. Vaping poses serious health risks and its already illegal in many countries.

Secluded/secret spots to see near and south of Dumaguete

Hello, my wife and I just landed in Dumaguete for 9 days and would like to explore the nice spots that tourists don’t typically know about. We will have a rented scooter, and we are fairly physically fit, albeit aging knees, so we can hike a bit (up to a mile if needed). We love caves, waterfalls, and gorgeous views of either ocean or mountains.

Where would you recommend?

Group traveler. Strict ba IO?

My friends and I (around 10 to 15 people) are traveling to Thailand this year for a quick 7-day vacation, and I’ll also be celebrating my birthday there. My main concern is that only 4 or 5 of us are frequent travelers, while the rest are first-timers. I’ve been hearing that IO in the Philippines are quite strict lately. Do you think we have a lower chance of being offloaded since we are traveling as a large group?

For Mount Pinatubo hike as foreigner I need to book 35 days prior to my hike, as I could see there are articles about this 35 day rule in few websites and I want to do the hike on June 25, is it possible for me to do the hike? I saw there are multiple trials and one of the trial don’t have this issue. Any help me to do this hike. I really want to see Crater lake view. Also is the view different for different trails? Is the peak point same for all the trails ?
