Thinking of switching from CachyOS to PikaOS: Is it the right move to escape Arch's aggressive rolling release ?

Help: won't boot after install, black screen without manufacturer logo to go to bios

I just tried to install pikaos (first KDE, then GNOME), and both times after first boot and being asked to reboot, the screen would "freeze" at login, with neither keyboard or mouse working (when it worked fine on first boot and refind). Now after powering off and on again nothing boots, my monitor won't even switch off auto power-saving mode. I don't know what else I should provide for this, just that I'm a newbie to linux in general (only 1 month on mint on a laptop before this), specs being GTX 1050ti, i5-7400, 8gb ram

I have a problem

Warm regards to anyone reading this post.

Today I tried to install PikaOS on my computer, an HP Elitedesk 800 G3 SFF with an Intel Core i5-6500 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB NVMe drive, and an AMD R5 430 graphics card. But I ran into a problem.

When I restarted the PC after the "successful system installation," I was surprised to find that my monitor went gray—not black, not blue, and not even a "Kernel Panic" screen. No, it was simply a gray background with no mouse cursor visible.

This worried and surprised me quite a bit, since even though I know that PikaOS is based on Debian (unstable), I thought it wouldn't have this kind of error, but I see that's not the case. So I'm asking for help to see if, please, you can provide me with a solution.

I’ve already tried installing the system twice and it didn’t work, even though I used the latest ISO image (Cosmic version) available on the official website (version 2026-4).

Help

So I'm trying to install or well test pikaos via Ventoy but it shows to boot from an efi partition (which the iso isn't in) when the iso is in a Fat32 58 gig partition.

An attempt to revive r/PikaOS

Hello guys, as you are aware the subreddit is very dead, and almost unregulated.

I have made an effort to add clear rules to the subreddit to get rid of political spam.

And I will make an effort to be more active here.

I will also be looking at getting new mods.

Goodbye. 👋

KDE 6.7

I am new to PikaOS. Can someone tell me when the DE might be updated? I love the new features of the newer version and hope they do that within a normal time frame for a rolling release? This is a rolling release? No?

Pikaos handheld edition when?

This is by far my favorite distro. I've been using it for over a year now with no intention of switching. When might the handheld edition be coming? Have a used rog ally running cachyos but I want something more stable and bazzite has terrible audio quality. I've seen it listed for awhile now

Trouble with installing PikaOS

Hey, guys!

I tried installing PikaOS after using Windows for years. I installed the standard GNOME ISO file and flashed it onto a USB drive, which works correctly. After I boot from the USB and install PikaOS on a drive (NVME M.2), I restart my PC and start the setup with the wizard. After that is finished, and it tells me to reboot my PC, that's when the problems start. On my most recent try to install, I got pretty far. The system loads to the point where I get to the login page, but I don't even get to the part where I would need to enter my password, because it hard freezes completely. I can't move my mouse, can't type anything, basically, what I said, a hard freeze. After I restart my PC, everything goes wrong. I get no beep from my motherboard's buzzer, and absolutely NO display. Nothing. I have been trying to figure it out all this time, and it is currently 1.15 am. I am going to sleep with the hope of someone coming to my rescue.

(I have an Nvidia 1080, an Intel Core i5-11400F, a Gigabyte H510M, 16GBs of RAM)

Trouble getting Oversteer Wheelmanager working properly

Hey everyone,

As title says, I have trouble getting Oversteer wheel manager working properly on my PC with PikaOS. On my OpenSuse Tumbleweed it runs without issues, while it isn't even a gaming distro. Also my pedals and stickshift are not recognized at all.

  • My specifications are:
  • Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 8600G w/ Radeon 760M Graphics
  • Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (30.5 GiB usable)
  • Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT
  • Graphics Processor 2: AMD Radeon 760M Graphics
  • Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
  • Product Name: B650 AORUS ELITE AX V2
  • Logitech G29 SE Steering Wheel + pedals + stick shift
  • PXN CB1 controllerbox
  • Dualsense controller (PS5)
  • Dual booting Opensuse Tumbleweed and PikaOS on different harddrives

I alos have another issue with one of my controllers. I have PXN CB-1 controller box and while on OpenSuse Tumbleweed it works out of the box, the only buttons that get recognized when I want to use it in PikaOS are the pre-set ESC and ENTER butten. the others just don't work.

In EuroTruck Simulator 2 The PXN box gets 3 different notifcation all three don't work. My DualSens controller also gets multiple options to choose from, whil one just works. It is confusing.

Anybody here who can help me solve this? I'd like PikaOS to be my main gaming OS, but it is not working this way.

Games not depending on my G29 SE and the PXN-CB1 are just working awesome.
