Where to fin plus size engagement party dresses

I have two engagement parties at the end of June for my family and then my Fiancee's family (they live in different states). I have spent all of May SEARCHING in person stores for something to wear. Today I went to four different stores and found nothing. I don't want Shein but everything online is either fast fashion or way out of my budget of $50 per dress. What are some good online stores to look at? The themes of my engagement parties are Love is in bloom and Written in the stars. I hate being a plus size bride to be. I feel like nothing is catered towards us and when it is I have to spend way over my budget. This is supposed to be fun but at this point I am just feeling defeated...

Finding a dress that fits Vs s dress that I love

I live in Spain, I'm Irish. I've fully accepted I will never have that moment of trying on a beautiful dress and just buying it.

I'm starting the injections next month and my wedding is in April 2028 but I've done them before and lost 20kg and nothing noticeable happened

I am fat

120kg and 5'5

My fiancé loves me ragardelss but how do I feel beautiful in a room of 170 skinny gorgeous people. There's places in America to find plus size dresses, but I don't live there, I don't have that available to me and I want to be able to feel good and sexy

Idk, I'm venting.

Found my dress!

I literally started going to therapy bc of how much I hated my body and was dreading dress shopping. Ended up going with just my mom and MOH. This was the literal opposite of what I thought I wanted in almost every way for a dress, but I fell in love with it instantly.

Now that two months have passed since I bought it, I'm struggling to lose weight and feel like I don't want to go to the seamstress until I have dropped like 20lb from where I was in the picture.

Craziest thing to me is I was told this fits almost perfectly by the attendant at the shop. Looking for reassurance I guess??

Bust support for big ole yitties

Hello lovelies! I’m getting married in September 2027 and am mentally preparing myself for dress shopping. I have complicated feelings around it because it SHOULD be one of the most exciting parts of wedding prep (I loooove to be all dressed up and feel like a ai just stepped out of a fairytale) but I know the reality might be a lot different as a plus size bride. But I digress…

One of my biggest concerns is bust support. I dream of having the ladies fully lifted and supported, but they are rather large. Larger than the rest of me, which is at a 16/18 currently. Maybe closer to a 22 in the bust? A G/H cup, ish. Idk for sure, it’s been a while since I’ve measured. Has anyone found an undergarment as supportive (or close to as supportive) as my fantasy? I am willing to go full corset if that would achieve it. Straps are not an issue because I am willing to forgo a strapless dress if it means having my boobs off of my torso… 🥴 I also don’t plan on a revealing/plunging neckline for my dress.

Many thanks in advance! 🤍

crashing out…

I went dress shopping yesterday and purchased a dress I’m having second thoughts about. I’ve been crying all morning. It’s not the style I was imagining. Initially, I went in for a basque waist a-line. I ended up with an asymmetrical waist line fit and flare and an additional skirt. I love the skirt, but wish I had retuned to the other fitted gowns with the traditional basque waist I previously ruled out for lack of volume. I only tried the one dress I purchased with the skirt on. I have a photo of one that I wish I put a skirt over and I can’t stop looking at it and wondering if I made a hasty choice. The shop stayed open late for me, was exceptionally accommodating, and really worked with me because my wedding is in 4 months. I’m banking on them not being able to cancel the order. I can’t stomach the thought of buying another dress but I don’t know if I can stomach the thought of sticking with the dress I purchased either. Idk what to do. Unsure if I’m evening seeking feedback or just ranting. I feel insane to be crashing out like this over a dress. Photo attached is what I purchased. There will be no band with the skirt after alterations. Dress with skirt is what I purchased, dress without is what I wish I tried on again with the skirt…..

ETA: Thank you all for the kind feedback. I’m feeling less freaked out, but still a lil freaked out even with the resounding “YES” to dress #1 from you all. My brain is so fried 🥴 I called the shop and there isn’t much they can do except for me buying a second dress. Contracts are contracts, and I get that.

For clarity- the second dress would have been ordered with ivory lining instead of nude. What attracts me to it is the symmetrical waist line and the sparkle. Despite me holding my tummy, I was very comfortable in it and my bridesmaid happened to snap the one photo of me just feeling my body while in it. It’s the only photo I have of that dress. I also liked the neckline and worry the scoop neckline on the one I chose is making my already large chest look larger. I wish I had tried on alternative styles of fit and flare that had 1) a symmetrical basque waist, 2) a more v-neck cat eye neckline, and 3) a more structured skirt.

TLDR: Still crashing out. Skirt opened up a realm of possibilities that I didn’t explore. Insecure about the asymmetrical waist line. Wasn’t what I imagined on my body and should’ve stayed true to the waist line I imagined all along. Posted more pics in comments.

Dress help

Tried on the Sarah Seven High Priestess dress this weekend as a total wildcard and I cannot stop thinking about it. It’s so different from what I thought I wanted, but it felt really romantic and special in person.

I think I’m getting in my head because it’s more fitted than I normally wear, but I also felt really good in it? The dress I originally thought was the one is a simple strapless A-line gown, so now I feel completely torn.

Would love opinions from anyone who ended up choosing something totally different than they expected.

Looking for stores with black dresses in New England/NYC

Hi. I'm looking for shops that sell black wedding dresses in size 22 or 24 in the New England/NYC area. I'm looking for somewhere that has more than 2 options as well. Please let me know if you know of any stores, shops, dressmakers, etc. I already tried shopping online and that turned out awful, so please don't suggest that. Also, if they have an in house tailor, that would be great. I have very unusual measurements. Thank you very much in advanced!

Plus Size Wedding Event Dresses

Hi! I am having a Luau theme for our engagement party in August.

I have found some inspiration photos, but I can’t find what I’m looking for in plus size, but keep coming across perfect dresses otherwise. Sleeves and other styles are welcome, I just keep stumbling across sleeveless straight styles, which is also fine. A white base would be best.

I’m a 1X or 2X and any guidance or help would be so appreciated and helpful!

Searching deep…I feel like I’ve looked at ALL the websites!

Thanks in advance!

Just discovered this sub and I want to show ya’ll our wedding last year!

I have never felt more beautiful and it was an incredible day with so much help and participation from our amazing friends and family. We had a handmade cake topper, Lego flowers on every table and overall just turned out incredible. I did my own makeup, my friends helped with my hair and my dress is from Avery Austin. I’m probably going to sell it so if you’re interested, DM me!

Most of these were taken in the amazing Bizzell Library at the University of Oklahoma ♥️

Second guessing myself

As soon as I got engaged, I honed in on this dress. I’m getting married in a couple of months and now I’m overthinking every decision I’ve made for the wedding but especially my dress. I feel like it isn’t bridal enough, tho I love it so much. Part of me is hoping I’ve looked at my try on pictures for so long that it only seems that way to me now. I’ve tried it with several veils to see if I can recapture the magic I felt when I first saw it but I’m still unsure. 🫥 Should I give up on it? Any advice?

Edit: Firstly, thank you all so much for the kind words and advice! As for the top part, the cleavage is supposed to spill over a little or at least I think so since the models wearing the dress have it styled that way. It’s also a corset back and I couldn’t properly tighten it by myself 😅 so my cleavage was over spilling and it was slipping down. However, I’ll definitely be seeing a seamstress to see if anything can be done to make it more secure. To everyone who suggested an overskirt, thank you again! I hadn’t even thought of that and I’m starting my search for one rn.

Is this my dress?

I’ve tried so many dresses. I feel like I don’t even know what my style is any more after 2 kids 😂 I keep coming back to this Madi lane Stevie. And guess I’m keen to hear some other (respectful) opinions? I love that it’s a bit different, and a little sexy without feeling like it’s too much. But is it too simple? We are looking at a garden wedding and reception in a beautiful country hotel here in Australia. ETA: If the skirt looks a bit off, there’s a nude coloured lining stuffed underneath just to show that as a colour option

ETA - have since bought it after all the lovely comments!!! 💙💙 and some haters but can’t please everyone 🤣

I'm getting married & I have flat feet. My toes/heel are 'regular width', but where my arch should be (midfoot I believe is the name) is where I get blisters with every kind of sandal and heel. Anyone have any suggestions for low heels or sandals that are comfortable and won't shred my feet? Thanks!

Eloped yesterday and felt like the most ethereal ghost in my dress

Had so much anxiety about how I would look in photos but it all melted away the moment my husband and I were together for our ceremony.

Edit: Everyone! Thank you for your warm words and congratulations! My heart was already so full from getting married and seeing the photos, and now it's overflowing with happiness from your kindness. Thank you thank you thank you!

Reception dress help

Hello all! My friend is getting married in exactly 1 month and we still haven’t found a reception dress for her after many many hours looking. Would anyone have any insight, I’ve trawled through so many posts on Reddit and websites with no luck.

We would need:
- uk size 18-20 (US 14-16)
- long sleeve
- v neck
- knee length
- skater style skirt
- white/ivory
- budget: £300/$410
- will need to arrive in Uk before the wedding

Ideally:
- sparkle
- floral

I have attached some Olivia Bottega gowns that she loves but are out of budget and won’t arrive in time for reference. Any help at all would be hugely appreciated!!
