ISO Plus Size Crinoline for Dress

ISO Plus Size Crinoline for Dress

Looking for a plus size crinoline for my dress to give my skirt some volume as it's a silk satin with no underskirt. Any recommendations would be great! Looking to stay on the cheaper side.

Added pic for better reach!

Hair salons that are good and reasonably priced

I'm looking for a place to get my haircut and I'm kind of astounded that so many of the places I see have prices starting at $95 AND that they go up based on the "skill level" of the hair dresser.

Idk if this is a regional thing, but every salon I used to go to before moving I paid like $65 and I was working with a stylist with 10+ years experience.

I've tried Salon Shahin before and I feel like my cut was just okay.

If anyone can recommend a reasonably priced place for a cut within 20 min of Stamford I would appreciate it!

In need of reliable car, but I know nothing.

Hello used car reddit!

My car was totaled after being hit parked. I have about 5k cash to play with and willing to finance up to up to 10k (but would like to be under 11k for the car total if that's possible these days). I know very little about cars and haven't purchased one without help ever. I desperately need advice about cheap, reliable used cars. Also would love opinions on certified used vs just buying one non certified from a dealer. Not sure I want to go the private sale route.

Right now I'm thinking about a few options

Honda - CRV or HRV

Toyota - Rav 4

Subaru - have not settled on a model but an suv of some type.

If anyone has any recommendations on years to look for or any in general I would really appreciate it. Waking into a dealership as a woman scares the shit out of me.

UPDATE: My In-laws offered to pay for the wedding then changed their minds.

I've updated my original post but here's the TLDR:

My future husband spoke to his parents. They said it was a misunderstanding and that they only offered to pay for the venue, but after one push back they've now offered to split the vendor costs with us. After running numbers, we are pretty confident we can handle that and our wedding is proceeding!

Thanks to all for the advice and the ear.

In-laws offered to pay for wedding, then changed their minds.

I really am not trying to sound all "first world problems" here but I feel like I'm about to lose my mind.

My future husband and I are set to be married in spring of next year. I initially did not want a big wedding mainly because we cannot afford it and I knew I was not going to get any of the "traditional" level of help from my parents (which is totally fine, they just aren't in the position). My partner however encouraged me to look at venues because his parents would help us.

7 months ago we went to look at venues with his parents and they told us they would "pay for the whole wedding". I was floored and did not expect that (though I was aware they had the means). I had my partner clarify this with them a few months later because I was honestly in shock. They told us to come to them when we need them to make payments on venue and vendors. I was and am very grateful for the help.

The problem is that my partner called them last week to let them know we'd need money for vendors soon and they now told him they aren't paying for our vendors. This came out of nowhere as we confirmed with them a second time 3 months ago.

I really don't know what to do. We are scraping by in terms of money as it is I have no idea how I'm going to afford this wedding now (even though I was planning a "budget" wedding because I didn't want to feel like I was taking advantage of their kindness).

I also feel incredibly selfish and entitled being upset about this. I didn't expect them to pay for the whole wedding when we got engaged, but they told us they would and so we planned for that. Now we're less than a year out from the wedding and idk how I'm pulling together funds for the vendors.

If it were up to me, I'd cancel the whole thing and go to a court house at this point. But his parents laid out money to the hall we can't get back. So I feel like we're in a bind.

Idk if I'm looking for advice or what but I just had to vent about this. I feel like what was already a stressful time is now way more stressful.

EDIT: more info/ context

His parents gave no reason for the change of mind really. They said they never agreed to pay for vendors, but they did. We asked them because I felt it was a lot to offer and we wanted to be sure.

They can afford to pay for this. They paid for his sister's wedding several years ago and it was at least twice the price. Not that I'm trying to count anyone else's money - I find that.gross, but y hey have the means. I have no idea what the issue is that sparked this.

I'm hesitant to cancel because his parents paid a couple of the venue payments, but my parents (who are struggling with money) gave us the deposit which was tough for them. And honestly that's what bothers me the most because they really couldn't afford it.

Lastly, his parents are lovely people. Like truly, wonderful people. They treat me like their own daughter. I love them and am grateful for any help they give us. Idk what happened here. When he told me this I thought maybe they'd had a collective stroke and misremembered the conversations they had with us.

Honestly, the worst part of this was I got so excited about this wedding and have been telling everyone about it. To cancel feels so embarrassing. I know it shouldn't be but it is. I think we will try and see we can make it work. Maybe DIY florals, cheapest dj possible and such.

(Hopefully) FINAL UPDATE:

My future husband talked with his parents and expressed how upset he was about them promising us a fully funded wedding and then reneging on part of it when we were ready to contract vendors. They basically said that it was a misunderstanding and that they were paying for the venue only.

After some back and forth about the fact that we clarified this with them, they offered to split vendor costs. They also offered to front us money if we need and we can pay them back.

Obviously, this isn't the plan we had, but I'm okay with it at this point. My fiancé and I are pretty confident we can afford to split the costs of the vendors. It seems like, worst case scenario I might not get my "dream dress". I'm happy his parents were willing to meet us halfway.

Oddly, at the end of the convo, they told him "don't worry, we won't give you less than your sister" so idk maybe this is some hoop jumping exercise and they just want to see us work for the money for the wedding and not take it? I have no clue. But at the end of the day looks like our big wedding is still happening!

Lastly, for some rude people in comments who were questioning how I don't have this money: I'm saddled with a ton of student loans on a just average salary and I was out of work for 6 months after a move within the last year. After they offered to pay for the wedding, all my spare money has been going towards my debt, not to savings. Had I expected to pay for the vendors, I would have drastically changed my savings plans the last 8 months.

I want to move back home, husband doesn't.

Technically not married yet but about to be in a few months.

A year ago, my future husband and I moved a state over due to him getting a solid job there. I was apprehensive about it since I really loved where we lived/grew up, but he really needed to take the job and we believed it would be cheaper in the new area.

It all happened really quickly and messily- we decided to move and moved within 6 weeks. I was promised my job would take me remote but two weeks before the move they told me they could only keep me part time. I was "under employed" for 6 months. We realized pretty quickly it was not all that much cheaper in the new state. All to say it wasn't a great transition.

We've been here a year now and I really don't love it. I feel like all my people are so far (2 hours) and I've had trouble adjusting to the change. I just really miss "home".

Initially when we talked about the moved, I asked my partner if we could reconsider after a year if we didn't like it and he agreed. But every time I bring it up, he tells me that he has a job (which he hates and is actively looking to replace) and I have a job (which I like) and that it would be a ridiculous idea to move now. He won't really entertain a conversation about a future move back either. Since we're all on our own in this state, I feel it would be smarter to establish a home and raise kids back where we grew up as his parents are retired and will be able to help should daycare be too expensive etc. but he really won't hear it. He tells me I'm having a hard time because the transition to living here was difficult and that I'm not giving it a fair shot - that I've been negative about it from get.

I'm kind of at a loss about what to do because I really do want to live here long term but my husband loves the area and feels like moving back to where he grew up would make him a "loser".

I guess I'm looking for advice on how to broach this as a serious conversation with him. Or maybe advice on if I'm being a baby and should give the area more of a chance.

Tl;dr I moved out of state for my husband's job. I hate it and want to move back, but he doesn't. How do we handle?

Auto body recs

My boyfriend's old Chevy was hit on the street last week and I need some auto body recommendations.

Drivers side door is dented and cannot be opened. The car probably isn't worth too much, but we'd like to figure out if it's worth it to just get the door fixed.

Would be helpful if the shop had rentals/a direct connect with geico. Thanks!!

Small office BIG GOSSIP

I started working at a small law firm 6 months ago after working in a small/med size corporate environment for 5 years. The people all seem very friendly, the environment is much nicer than the corporate gig, but holy shit I've never seen so much gossiping in an office and it's only TEN PEOPLE LARGE.

I don't think I've gone a week without someone shit talking another person - probably not a day tbh. And it seems like it's expected from me as well. If I don't chime in with a person, I get a look like I'm crazy for just trying to like everyone or be understanding.

The most hilarious things I've heard people gossiped about for:

- closing their office door
- changing into casual pants while using their walking pad
- taking paternity leave

I get that gossip can be fun but omg. I worked in the worst office environment in the world before this but I think the fact that everyone talks about everyone here is oddly more stressful for me.

Anyone else deal with this? How do you disengage?

Dreading planning my wedding

Not sure if I need advice, reassurance, or just to vent. I'm a little over a year out from my wedding on Long Island and I've done nothing but book the venue and reach out to some vendors on pricing. I'd love to just say "fuck it" and elope.

None of this has to do with my intended. I just didn't want a big wedding (my future husband does) and my adhd brain is not prepared to coordinate any of the planning.

Honestly, everything seems so overwhelming. I'm a constant over thinker who never trusts her own judgement. Even picking colors has me wondering if I'm making a mistake. never mind a dress, decor, vendors, florals and everything else that goes along with it.

I also don't have a lot of friends - like 3 people I talk to regularly - and I'm worried my wedding is going to be big lame party.

Did else feel like this?

▲ 6 r/IUD

Honestly I'm sharing this because I can't believe this oversight happened.

I've had a copper iud in for 3 years. It was not working well for me (bad bleeding, horrible cramps, increased inflammation all over my body) and I decided to get it out yesterday.

Now, I will admit I didn't have a consult appointment. I asked when scheduling my annual if they could take it out and they said it was totally fine.

Getting it out sucked. I saw a midwife who assured me she was qualified to take it out but it got stuck and only came out after 4 painful tries. She was stressed and told me in the middle of trying to get it out that she had only done this once before, she was new to the practice, and she really shouldn't have done this without a consult (like okay why not just tell me that before and schedule me for another date??).

10 hours later, I get a frantic call from this woman. She asks me when I last had sex. I tell her yesterday and she goes quiet. She then tells me that I could get pregnant and I need to take plan b. She also tells me I might already be ovulating and the plan b might not work.

I can't believe the oversight. No one told me that I needed to use back up birth control before getting it removed! No one told me don't have unprotected sex. No one flagged that I was ovulating when I gave them my period tracker info. Everyone at the office I talk to seems surprised I'm even pissed off about this!

I'm very curious if anyone on here has had a similar experience. Now I'm just sitting here thinking I could have an unwanted pregnancy and I won't really know for 2 weeks.
