Into the daycare you go, Ditto. Those shiny eggs aren't making themselves...
Yeah I'm pretty sure this was the general reaction after freeing Ditto from the cage.

Looking for starting a new run and I'm not about to nuzlocke it LMAO.
VTuber wins! 🥹🍦✨
There's only two gym leaders I beat on the very first attempt: Shelly and Amaria (Shelly being completely blind). This was fun! Funny enough; I spent far more time breeding a Vaporeon with Synchronoise than I actually spent using it in battled
Just curious I’m playing through reborn for the first time. How many times did some of yall have to soft reset to get a shiny starter?
Fern is an interesting jerk-rival. He embodies the archetype to a T, right down to choosing to side with the evil team because he is so dedicated to being on the winning side. Fern was also, in the previous timeline, the young hero who got the closest to Lin. I'll try my best to contend with these two realities.
Gameplay and story-wise, Fern has always been hinted to be built from stronger stuff. His Decidueye creates the natural rival dynamic with Cain and Victoria. Victoria's Zen selfishness contrasts with his ego-driven nature, and Fern's directness contrasts with Cain's conflict avoidance. Further cementing this is that, amongst your rivals, he gets the furthest to you in terms of power. His frustrations with you always being ahead of him are a subtle nod to overall you having several advantages he simply doesn't. Two reality shifters are pushing you to shift while Fern only has himself to win. This was never a fair game to Fern.
Yet circumstances further display that, however valid that pain is, Fern isn't actually equipped as a person to handle the task of healing Reborn. The prior timeline suggests he made it and failed at Lin's doorstep. I'll dive deeper as to why in Lin's analysis. What I can say is that Fern, as a person, wants to be the hero, and can be heroic. The end point of his umbral mission shows this, and Florinia's recount of her birthday emphasises that beneath his bluster, Fern wants to be that person naturally.
There are two major reasons as to why he struggles in this space of frustration. One is out of his control entirely, and the other is a deep-rooted one. The former is the easiest to understand. Lin is a god who can only realistically lose when she feels like it. This doesn't make her unbeatable, as the Anna route shows, but Fern could never win against someone who could restart any fight against him and choose the exact team needed to beat him. Lin, or you. He is against an impossible hurdle; he does try his best, though,
Which leads to the second issue that likely was in Fern's control. He struggles to make connections means that he couldn't band the team together to make the final push against Lin. Rescuing Lin requires the player character to motivate the entire cast to assist. Our ability to win is of less importance than our ability to walk with the rest of the cast through their problems. Beating Lin in a game only has her flip the board and demand the rules be changed in her favour. Fern would likely prioritise winning over healing.
I'll use Florinia's memory of her brother as a key example. She tells the story of someone who would neglect getting his sister a gift, but on the other hand fight tooth and nail to get back at her bullies. A strong sense of Justice, even if still egocentric, is deep in Fern's heart. As well as several deep-seated insecurities born from being in his sister's shadow. That internal conflict could not be resolved if Fern didn't have an obstacle to force him to self-reflect, and that obstacle is the player character.
Fern's two major post-game stories revolve around Mew and Mewtwo. The first highlights how he has changed. Fern is now less focused on beating you and more on a healthy competition between the two of you. The childish play area highlights this. He sticks to his word about the winner of the battle getting first dibs on Mew and honestly does his best to find Mew. There are moments when the frustrations get to him, but that is a work in progress. Your rivalry with Fern allows him to focus less on the goal and more on the journey, in that he becomes more likeable.
The other half is him being forced to confront himself. Mewtwo acts as a metaphor for Fern's own quest for power. Metatextually, an imposing Mon, and the definitive legendary Pokemon to many a Pokemon fan. Like you, Fern has to overcome a stronger version of his team. That version reflects back who he has been to people, and it causes him to reevaluate hard. Self-reflection is core to Fern's development, and what is a clone if not another kind of mirror?
The final step in that growth is that he sacrifices for you. Fern went from aiming for cheap shots to take you down in Victory Road to saving you from Mewtwo’s own cheap attack. Frozen in stone and resurrected by the graces of a god, he is forced to spit out his deepest thoughts. An interesting note about Umbral Fern is that he doesn’t have Decidueye. Beyond the balanced reasons of Serperior being superior for a hyper-offence team like Umbral Fern and working better for the Holy field, I want to suggest there's more to this decision.
Signature Pokemon are ways to speak to a character. Serperior was his ace in the prior version, and I'd wager his ace in the previous timeline. It reflects his desire to dominate battles, while its grass typing connects him to his roots. Decidueye then is the result of a new timeline for Fern. The ghost typing represents the various shadows Fern is under. His sister, you and his own ambitions. When stripped away, we fight the kind of trainer he could be, and in another timeline we understand it allows him to grow to be an Elite 4 and most impressively befriend Titania.
Fern's story, when taken as a whole, is that he is the core rival. He is the hero of another story, it just unfortunate the story we experience, he isn't at the centre. To make peace with your limitations, but never allow that to be an excuse for complacency. Fern isn't the type to remember birthdays or speak true to his feelings. He will stand up for you. He will be blunt about his thoughts, and if his job is to heal you before the final battle, he will damn well do his best.
S tier - A mix of characters I like who are well executed, are good characters in their own right, and provide a lot to the game's overall narrative. Noel is at the top because he genuinely is a delight whenever he is on screen, and his post-game story does a lot to highlight him beyond Anna.
A tier - Great characters who aren't in S due to me just not fully vibing with them like that or there being one or two minor issues. Victoria, for example, I liked the most out of your 3 rivals, but she's kinda straightforward to a fault. I think her post-game Kiki quest could have been handled a little less directly.
B tier- Good character, but my critiques are more weighted here. Ace, for example, was a great addition but suffers a lot from the Reborn dialogue, in which they speak 4 sentences longer than they need to.
C tier - Serviceable. Under better conditions, they may have been higher ranked, but as they are, they either are likeable or lacking something that lets them shine. Saphira's issue is that she is competing with Titania, who has a better-executed story, and we only really understand her towards the end of the main game. In a game without Amy and Titania, the Belrose sisters would probably have more time to be fleshed out and given the space to rank higher.
D-Tier. Just don't like the character. Blake is a cool contrast character for Cal, and all the good things I can say about Blake are about how he makes Cal seem better. Everything else, I found him uninteresting. He did nearly starve a village with children for the most paper thin of reasons, and he doesn't really get redeemed.
My personal top 5 , in no particular order, are: Lin, Taka, Luna, Victoria and Noel.
Hello! I am playing on version 19.5 and I just defeated Gym Leader Charlotte in Calcenon City. However, the road ahead is still closed, the characters are missing from the Ametrine ice wall, and Anna won't give me the Dive TMX. My save file seems to be missing the progression trigger. Could someone please fix my file and add the Dive TMX to my bag? Thank you so much!
In the guide I'm following it says I can just go up the staircase (or at least, I think it does), however every time I try I get stuck. Is there something obvious I'm missing or is the guide wrong? (Also, sorry if there's something wrong with this post, I've never used reddit before and made an account just to ask this)
Like the title says i'd love to know if any method to do that be it in game or a mod is available since matching my mons to different pokeballs are one the details that make pokemon games fun for me. Tried to do a little research before posting here but all the results I found are a little too hard for people without the proper technical knowledge of the tools used in the videos, super different from pkhex that i normally use with the vanilla games. :(
I'd be super grateful if anyone can help me! Just need to figure this out to start my first playthrough!
Oh boy, did this gym give me trouble, as you can see by the state of my team lol. I've been having a blast with this game! Although battles like this stress me out beyond belief, I was lucky to stall with a few revives and toxic spikes against their final mon.
As it turns out there aren't many Pokémon in later generations with opened flowers on them: most do not possess them in fact.
The only ones I manged to find where Gossifleur, and Meowscarada.
For the former, Laura recalls how Gossifleur's pollen was found to have healing properties, and recalls a tender story of how Saphira went and caught a few for her and Charlotte as they were feeling ill, but ended up swarming the house with pollen and getting them hay fever✨️
For the latter, she instead highlights how careful she will have to be, because usually Meowscarada is far too proud of a Pokémon to allow its flowers to be touched. She says she heard they have a fragrance of pomegranate, and comments on how lucky she is and that this is a rare fragrance🧚♀️
I tried Eldegoss, Floragato and Alcremie, but they all got rejected. Let me know if you know of others, this was so cute!🥰
Hi. I used to do reviews of this game back when 19 came out. Life happened, and I couldn't finish the post-game. Life happened again, and it took me a lot of effort, but I have beaten Reborn on the ReshiLin route,
My proudest achievement is that my starter, Infernape, was with me in every major battle and in a team filled with 5 legendaries, it stands proud, knowing it beat THE OG AG mon M-Rayquaza and stood with giants.
I'd honestly give Reborn an 8/10. I have a lot of critiques, but I don't think there's a game I've played like Reborn. It's proudly authentic to itself, its humour, its purple prose and its heart. It also pushes the limits of what Pokemon games can be in terms of difficulty.
I'm hoping some day soonish I'll find the time to properly review and express my post-game thoughts. At the very least, Lin deserves a full character breakdown.
Yeah Serra made the bee outfit obviously...
I finished the game a couple of days ago and I've loved every moment of it. It's keeping me sane through a pretty bad summer. My favourite parts were honestly the characters and the plot. I liked always having a new mission to look forwards to, and that feeling is missing in the postgame. It feels like it's just a legendary catching sequence with scraps of plot miles away from each other. This just isn't fun for me.
Is this how it will be all postgame long or does the pacing improve? I intended to play 3 routes of this game, but if this is gonna be the pace for all the postgame I can only do it once lol. I'll just start a new game and skip straight to the route I wanted to do last if this is how it's gonna be. Thanks
Yanmega was holding lax incense, krokodile had quick claw
Yanmega first attacked malamar with bug buzz and then krokodile used earthquake. Reuniclus used psychic on yanmega which missed thanks to lax incense(I restarted the match a lot of times for her to miss yanmega).
Then Metagross was sent. Yanmega used detect protecting him from Metagross and Reuniclus attack and then krokodile used crunch on Reuniclus killing her.
Then Slowbro came. Yanmega used bug buzz and krokodile used crunch to kill him. Metagross attaked yanmega which missed.
Then came Gardevoir. My yanmega used bug buzz and krokodile used crunch on Metagross killing him. Metagross attacked krokodile before dying leaving him at 1 hp and Gardevoir killed krokodile.
Then I sent talonflame and he sent gallade. Talonflame used steel wing on Gardevoir taking almost all hp and making her eat her berry, yanmega used bug buzz on gallade. Gardevoir killing talonflame and gallade attacked yanmega leaving him at 1 hp.
Then I sent magcargo. yanmega used detect and magcargo turn was used to revive talonflame. Gardevoir attacked yanmega and gallade attacked magcargo killing him.
Then I sent talonflame. Yanmega used bug buzz on gallade and talonflame used steel wings killing Gardevoir. Gallade attacked yanmega but missed.
In next turn talonflame used acrobatics killing him.
I restarted the battle countless times and only won in this battle due to luck. Also this gym was the hardest of all
This was fun. And went by surprisingly quick and easy. More or less what I did:
- Medichamp with Quick Claw. Brick Break one-shotted Sandslash and destroyed the aurora veil
- Dark Drapion with Quick Claw. Used Sword Dance on the first turn with Escadrill, then one-shotted him with Night Slash. I can't remember if I endured the hit, or beat him on speed
- Ninetails took out Scyther in two Flamethrowers, while enduring the bullet punch
- Krookodile with Magical Seed for Klefki. Earthquake weakened it, then fainted
- A second Krookodile with Quick Claw wrecked it on the second earthquake
- That same second Krookodile one-shotted Aegislash with Dig, since he was protected on the first turn.
- Empoleon was one-shotted, I think with Medicham and High Jump Kick.
- Primarina wasn't even used once
I messed around a few times with a few teams and items, then this just blazed right through it. Had 3 Quick Claws and 4 Magical Seeds, but didn't use all of them. No potions or revives used. Also the first time all game that I used Sword Dance (TM'd it specifically for this)
What the hell is wrong with Noel's team
Whatever I do
I can't beat him😭😭😭
