Dissertation Survey
So, I'm doing my Criminology Master's dissertation on probation and what the public thinks probation is. I would love it if people complete my survey, as I need as many participants as possible :)

My brother has been arrested 36 times in his life. Since moving to Florida in 2017, he has been arrested five times for drugs. While on probation in Manatee County, he was caught with 12 grams of meth. Instead of revoking his probation, the court extended it by six months.
During that same probation period, he sent me three separate sets of violent, graphic threats — roughly 250 screenshots each time. These messages included detailed threats of kidnapping, physical harm, sexualized violence, and statements about “cleaning up a crime scene.” Why? Because I need to learn a lesson and he is going to be the one to teach it to me. The lesson: I can't skate through life and be perfect. Huh? Brother, how many times can you walk into a hole before you know the hole is there and chose to walk around it? We know it's more than 36 times.
I live in another state and filed a police report here in November 2025, but nothing has happened. He is off probation next February 2027. His probation officer told me he didn’t violate anything because his conditions don’t specifically forbid contacting his sister. When your busted over and over and over for drugs why would a stipulation be, don't contact your sister? However, one of his conditions does state “no new criminal offenses.”
My question is procedural:
How does Florida probation determine whether conduct like this counts as a violation when the threats are sent across state lines?
And separately, how does possession of 12 grams of meth during supervision not trigger revocation?
I’m trying to understand whether this is typical for Manatee County or whether something is being overlooked.
So I drank a little bit last night and I'm concerned if my PO will end up violating me for it and in turn sending me to jail for 2 years. I'm teetering on sending myself to a ward (not only for that fact but because I genuinely need it) but if I don't have to I really don't want to because I've only had bad experiences with them. What should I do?

hey everyone
I’m on deferred adjudication in Dallas, supervised in Collin county, for a dui. my attorney hand submitted a motion for early termination on Thursday. On Friday my attorney called me and said the judge signed the order and that I’m done and hes just waiting on the paperwork now so that I can get my IID removed and be officially done.
today (tuesday) I had my routine meeting with my supervising P.O. (Collin county) and she said she hadn’t heard anything from Dallas about me being off of probation. I haven’t seen any update online on the case search and my attorney takes a long time to reply and hasn’t sent me any paperwork.
has this happened to anyone else? How long does it normally take to get the paperwork and officially be done?
so I’ve been on juvenile probation for about five years I’m 17 and recently I made it to the point where I’m about to get off this month. I have to go take a nicotine test but I might fail for nicotine. ive not smoked it in a day and 18 hours and when I did smoke, i only smoked it for two days. this will be my second hiccup the first time i told my po i smoked she told me to stop. do you guys think my system is clear i plan to drink some water to speed up the process but shouldnt my levels already be low?
I drank last night and slept through my alarm. My 6am test came up I missed it but woke up right before my 10am test and I blew 0.06 on my Bactrac. I have a SCRAM RB-210 portable breathalyzer. I know I failed. There were two 15-minute countdown windows and I missed both. I still haven’t heard anything from my probation officer.
Has anyone been in this situation? Does the PO always contact you same day? What’s the typical process after a failed test? Any insight appreciated.
How can I pull this off????
My ex husband was arrested in may for parole violation, DV. Failed his classes and drug test and still managed to try to harass me. He was arrested in may, we had court in may and 2 weeks later they notified me his parole was revoked. His PO called me also to inform me of that and said he would be sent back but didn’t know when or for how long yet. And today i received a email saying he was up for parole review. How is that possible or what does that mean?? He’s still here in county jail. The notice just says parole review (case pull). So did it not get revoked??? I’m Texas
Take one pack of Certo the night before drink Gatorade enough to hydrate the key is the second Certo pack. Pee twice. I heard this doesn’t work well it did just throwing it out there.
I drank a good bit Friday and did around a .5- a g of cocaine, how long will it take to get out of my system. I have a urine test Friday morning.
What if I take 20mg of alprazolam for a week straight, then stop, and in 3 weeks from the day I stopped I have a urine drug test that would be sent to a lab? Would I pass that drug test for alprazolam, or would I fail it?
I'm 6'2", 175 pounds, skinny body frame. I live a sedentary lifestyle. I don't move around much; I sit at a computer all day, not doing much.
But yeah, just scared that after a week of doing 20mg of alprazolam within that week's time, then stopping and being drug tested 3 weeks later would i pass the urine test?
Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
Also, just on a side note, if someone was to take 2mg of Xanax, then drink, say, a bottle of domestic beer (12oz bottle), what would that do?
But I'm more worried about the questions's regarding the drug testing.
TL;DR: If I take 20mg of alprazolam for a week straight and then stop, would I pass or fail a urine drug test that gets sent to a lab 3 weeks after I stopped? I'm 6'2", 175 pounds, skinny body frame, and live a sedentary lifestyle. Also, as a side question, what would happen if someone took 2mg of Xanax and drank a 12oz bottle of domestic beer?
Many thanks to all of u who comment on this. please i would love tohear from those who may have some experience on this matter and subject. regardless thanks u all very much and God bless each and everyone of you find sould.
I need advice. I have a relative, early 20s, who is currently and recently unhoused, lost phone and wallet. This may be substance induced or not. They have a prescription for a benzo but I think have been taking more on the side.
They just called from a church asking if I could ‘pick them up’ so they are confused. I’m 900 miles away.
What is the best thing to do? Will a hospital admit them? They do have a probation officer. Should I tell them?
Curious about real experiences from people who’ve had to take EtG urine tests.
For a female around 140lbs, 5’6” — how long did it actually take to clear after just two drinks? One 99 proof shooter and one 12.5% ABV canned cocktail?
Not talking about heavy drinking — just curious how much individual metabolism actually varies person to person. Did body type, food, hydration actually make a noticeable difference in your experience?
Looking for real answers not just the generic “80 hours” response everyone copy pastes.
Question about benzodiazepine testing:
When a test sample is sent to a laboratory for confirmatory testing, can the lab identify specific benzodiazepines such as alprazolam (Xanax) and clonazepam (Klonopin), or does it simply report that benzodiazepines are present?
I understand that some basic screening tests may only show a positive result for the benzodiazepine class, but I'm curious about what information a confirmatory lab test can actually provide. i also know if i take suboxone it will just show that i took buprenorphine or if i took meth or oxycodone it will show i had taken methamphetamine.
Thanks to anyone with experience in toxicology, laboratory testing, or pharmacy who can explain how this works.
I'm trying to decide whether to make an appointment with Medvidi and get prescribed Klonopin, Xanax, or Adderall. I used to be prescribed these medications several years ago, but after moving to a new state I was no longer able to continue treatment.
I'm currently on probation and was wondering if anyone has experience being prescribed medications like these while on probation. If you informed your probation officer about a legitimate prescription from your doctor, and what did they say? were there any issues or additional requirements? Like if i showed her the bottles and stuff would i be ok can they say u can't take certain meds even if a dr prescribed them for you?
I'd appreciate hearing about anyone's experiences or advice.
Many thanks.
This may be a stupid question, and I think I know the answer already but am not super familiar with how any of this works. I was watching something on YouTube and it brought a question to mind: Do probation officers, or I guess their supervisors, ever need reference from (some of) their probationers? Like if the PO's supervisor is checking up on work product, or if a PO is applying for promotion or new position. Would they ever potentially reach out to a number of past or present probationers? Thanks!
I give UAs for people on probation or pretrial. Sometimes they can't produce. I offer them the choice of canceling the test and giving it a chance later (my place closes at 3 snd other places are open later) or calling it a shy bladder. The shy bladder shows that an effort was made. Is there one that looks better to a PO than the other? How bad dos a shy bladder look for the donor? Just want to be as helpful s I can be.
Drank 4 shooters at 11:30 pm Saturday and had a random test on Monday at 4
I’ve drank 5 bottles of electrolytes and 2 detox drinks

I just received a plea deal today while on pretrial probabtion and have to submit to alcohol testing and drug screenings. I have been sober two months and today decided to take half of a 30mg kratom pill. I know the drug panel i take tomorrow is a 10-12 panel but not sure if it tests for kratom. It isnt an illegal drug or controlled substances in VA and thats all my paperwork says I can not have. I feel like I should be fine and didn't even question it as they said I could smoke marijuana. I would be shocked if I can smoke weed and not take a kratom pill. Please someone give me peace of mind.
