Are there daily Salsa classes/socials?

I am looking for salsa classes or socials around la punta. I was hoping to practice a little everyday but the only salsa social I heard of was the one at Nectar in Saturdays.

Things to do?!

Hello. Looking for suggestions for things to do in Puerto Escondido and surrounding areas. Will be here for six days and have a car rental. Looking for some fun things to do and nice beaches to visit. Excursions, tours, or day trips would be great. Kayaking, hiking, boating, etc.

Travelling from MEX with luggage

I'm staying in Mexico City for a few days and then travelling to Purto Escondido for a week and Oaxaca for a week with my family. We will have 3 suitcases, and looking at flights it adds so much money to add in all our suitcases. Is flying to MEX to Escondido the best option, if you have bags?

Hotel suggestions in PE.

Hello. I’ll be traveling to PE soon and would like some recommendations on hotels and zones to stay at in PE. Will be renting a vehicle so onsite parking would be a huge plus. Our stay would be a Sunday-Friday stay. (5 nights / 6 days)

I’d prefer to stay close to beach but it’s not a deal breaker.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

What would be best:
Booking.com?
Expedia.com?
Google?
Booking direct with hotel?

Guelaguetza 2026 official prices are out — wrote a guide covering what most people don't find out until they arrive

Been living in Oaxaca for a while. Every July I watch the same thing: people show up underprepared, overpaying for taxis, scrambling for hotels, and buying tickets from the wrong places.

So I wrote the guide I wish had existed.

It covers the official ticket info, yes — but also the things that don't make the tourism brochures: how transport actually works here (hint: it's not what you'd expect), what the deal is with water in July, how to not pay tourist prices for taxis, what's actually free and how to access it, and why there's been a genuine ongoing debate for 20 years about whether the official festival serves the communities it comes from.

It's bilingual (ES/EN) and I tried to write it like a local explaining to a friend, not like a PR piece.

Happy to answer questions in the comments if anything's unclear or outdated.Been living in Oaxaca for a while. Every July I watch the same thing: people show up underprepared, overpaying for taxis, scrambling for hotels, and buying tickets from the wrong places.

You can find it in the comments

Hikers of Puerto Escondido

Hey all - I’ll be visiting PE next week for 8 days, mainly to surf and practice Spanish. I’d love to go on a day hike with a group, and have seen there is a Facebook group called Hikers of PE, however I do not have Facebook.

Anyone know of an alternative way to join their hikes, or other hiking/social groups (e.g. on WhatsApp?)

For reference I am 31F and will be travelling solo, staying in Rinconada. I am a social and fun person, but not into partying/drinking every night.
