Mazunte/San Augustinillo Rain

Hi everyone!

I have a hotel booked in San Agustinillo from October 11–18. I knew it was the tail end of the rainy season and expected some showers, but the current forecasts are showing quite a bit of rain.

For anyone staying there now or living in the area, what should we realistically expect? Will we still be able to lounge on the beach and swim, or is the rain likely to significantly affect a beach vacation?
Also, is it safe to swim after/during rain due to things like sharks or crocodiles?

I know no one can predict the weather, but I’d really appreciate any firsthand insight into what conditions are actually like right now. Thanks so much!

Mexico City 9 Day Itinerary

Hello! I'm 34f from Canada and travelling with my partner to Mexico City and the Oxacan Coast in October. I have made an itinerary for Mexico City but I would love any suggestions or critiques, especially from locals. We speak very limited Spanish and are saying in Roma Sur.

We're interested in design, architecture, food, music, animals and nature If there are any restaurants you think are overhyped on my list and have alternative suggestions I'd love to hear it. Most of these plans are flexible except for booked tours at Casa Gilardi, Casa Estudio Barragan and the Organic Architecture tour. Also, I'm wondering if I'm planning on going to too many weekend markets. I'd appreciate any recommendations-- thank you!

Dog sitter recommendations for small reactive dog?

Hello!

I’m going away for 4 days mid August. I have a 15lb, 7 year old dog that can be reactive to some dogs and men. However, he typically gets along with adult small dogs and friendly people. I use R+ training only and he’s on anti-anxiety medication. He’s super cuddly and loves to be around people. He’s also good with kids.

Typically our dog walker takes care of him while we’re away, however she is unavailable. Does anyone have a recommendation for a dog sitter that has experience with reactive dogs? We’re looking for someone that can look after him at their home.

I would really appreciate any recommendations as I’m not seeing many people on Rover that note experience with reactivity. Thanks so much!

John Early Vicky Hat

Hello everyone!

I'm on the hunt for a sold-out merchandise hat from comedian John Early. I'm hoping to find one—new or second-hand—to give to a dear friend for her birthday.

She's been through an incredibly difficult few years, and this hat has become a special inside joke between us. I know it would genuinely mean so much to her and would make the perfect birthday gift.

If anyone has one they're willing to sell, or knows where I might be able to find one, I'd be so grateful. Thank you so much for any leads or help!

Dog Trainer: Honourable Hound or Dog Partners?

Hello,

I have a reactive dog and am looking for a R+ trainer to help us with his behaviour (we are also seeing a veterinary behavioralist). We're located in East Vancouver and are looking for in-person sessions. I've reached out to a few dog trainers, but I'm not sure who to choose. Does anyone have experience or recommendations between Holly Chen (Honourable Hound) and Rebecca Harsell (Dog Partners)?

I also reached out to Canine Connection, hoping to work with Annika, but received a response from a new trainer there, Georgia Dackombe. I'm hesitant to go with someone who seems less experienced.

We're looking for serious help with our dog and would appreciate any recommendations for trainers or testimonials from clients of the Honourable Hound or Dog Partners. It's a big financial commitment for us, so we want to make the right choice. Thank you!

Mexico City & San Augustinillo - Should we add Chacahua?

Hello everyone,

My partner and I are heading to Mexico for two weeks in mid-October. We have 7 days planned in Mexico City and another 7 days for the coast. We're considering staying in San Agustinillo because it seems quieter, less developed, and more authentic than some of the larger beach destinations.

I'm torn between spending the entire week in San Agustinillo or splitting our time with a few days in Chacahua. The mangroves, bioluminescence, and lack of commercialization sound incredible, but I'm wondering if it's worth the 3–4 hour journey each way.

We're most interested in swimming, nature, boating, local culture, and great food. For those who have visited both, does Chacahua offer a different enough experience to justify the extra travel time, or would you recommend spending the full week in San Agustinillo?

Also, how difficult is it to get from Chacahua to Puerto Escondido or Huatulco for a flight back to Canada?

Thanks for any advice!

Recommendation of Handyperosn

Hello!

I recently moved into a new apartment and placed something on one of the shelves in a closet. Unfortunately, the shelf wasn’t secured properly and fell out of the wall, taking chunks of the drywall out where the screws were. It seems too big of a job for me to try to fix myself. Can anyone recommend someone to hire to repair the drywall? What would a job like that typically cost?

Thanks so much for any help on this!
