Lemonade stand suggestions, please

My kids want to set up a lemonade stand at one of the local playgrounds. From what I've read online, I'll need to contact the city for permission. I plan to do that next week, but I was wondering if anyone has gone through this before. Any tips on what questions they might ask so I can be prepared?

My kids will be making fresh lemonade, chocolate chip cookies, and maybe some cupcakes. All activities will be supervised by me. We're in Bettendorf.

Also, if anyone has a link to the exact rules or instructions for getting permission, I'd really appreciate it. I looked online but couldn't find anything specific.

If you have any dos and don'ts or any other tips, please share.

Thanks!

Question for Floatzilla past participants

Is it common for kids younger than 12 to be out on the river in their own kayak?

Our son is 9 and is learning to kayak. He's been out in his own kayak before but only on Lake George/Sunset Marina, and usually connected to my husband's kayak. He's very interested in participating in Floatzilla, but we've never been out on the river, and we just noticed the official website recommends all kids under 12 be in a boat with a parent.

Both my husband and I plan to participate, so we would both be with him. He's very interested in going through the lock, but we also noticed the website says kayakers can't be connected if they go through. We plan to practice more this month to continue to help him feel more and more comfortable. Just wondering about others' experiences with kids on the river. Thanks!

Quad Cities Cameo in Netflix Series?

I’m watching the Spy Ops series on Netflix. Season 1: Episode 2 is about the Panama Canal, but at about 00:51 it shows some stock footage of what I’m almost positive is Rock Island and Davenport. The shot is over the Mississippi River downstream of the Crescent Rail Bridge with the Centennial Bridge and Davenport in the distance behind it.

What’s your favorite hot weather food?

Just bored and thought I’d ask what everyone is using to beat the heat this past week. I made 拍黃瓜. Chinese cucumber salad.

Moving to QC from TX

My wife and 11 year old son (and dog) are moving to Bettendorf at the end of the month from West Texas.

I landed a wonderful government civilian job with First Army that I couldn't turn down. This move also puts us 2.5 hours from my family and hometown of Madison Wisconsin so that's priceless.

My son will attend pleasant valley middle school as a 6th grader. My wife is seeking NP roles within adult geriatric acute care settings (after her Iowa license is obtained).

We have a home locked down on Zillow right now. We look to move on it as soon as our current home sells which it likely will in a few days. Our neighbors have made a cash offer to buy the home so that was amazing to have that done so fast and easy without even listing it or anything.

We are an active family that travels allot, likes fitness, likes dining out, likes wine, likes cultural events and festivals. I have done considerable freelance writing on food and wine as well over the years and look to continue doing so in the QC.

I am very familiar with the upper Midwest winters as a born and raised Wisconsinite. Wife being a native Texan, not so much. Will see how that goes.

Nervous about the 1100 mile 3-day drive up there, packing up the house, and setting up the new house, all while starting a new job, getting a kiddo in school, and helping wife land a new job, all at the same time.

Once those parts fall into place, we both feel this will be a very positive and needed move/fresh start for our family and our careers.

Hope to meet many of you locals soon after we arrive!

Hey local truckinmafia guy zig zagging through traffic reving your engine.

Saw this needle dick today. Dark maroon colored GMC pickup screaming zig zag through traffic on the avenue of the cities. Rear end was lowered and I believe tombstone might have been in the back window. Look if you're going to drive around like your penis size is equivalent to a baby carrot then maybe take the decals out of the back window so the whole crew doesn't have to suffer from penis envy.

New build experiences?

I grew up in the QC and my family and I are contemplating returning after 10 years away. I’m wondering if anyone has recently had experience with a new construction home build in the area? Is there a company you’d recommend?

We’ve never done one before so I’m also curious about your overall experience… construction loans and how that works with general mortgage, how customized style wise they allow you to do, how long it took, locations, etc.

We are an interracial couple with biracial kids so would prefer to be in an area with Black folks.

Help us find a home for Ruby!

Hi! I am an out of towner but I grew up in the QC area. Please, if anyone could just boost the signal. Surely there's someone, or someone who knows someone who knows someone, that could take in this dog. Ruby truly is a great dog. She's easy to care for, she's funny, she's sweet, she's well behaved. She gets along with all humans adult and children, and all dogs big and small. She's spayed, vaxxed, dewormed, and chipped. She just has a strong prey drive and can't live with cats.

Her backstory: Ruby lived in a home that neglected and abused her. Then a kind person took her and, and she loved her as well as she could but just couldn't take care of her correctly and her HOA forced her to give her up. My good friend took her in, but Ruby couldn't come into the house because of the cats, so she was living in my friends garage instead. And no offense to my friend, but garages are dirty, and there were no windows, and it was starting to get hot.

So, we took Ruby on a trial basis. I wanted her, but I knew it may not work with the cats. There was a backup family otherwise we'd have never taken her, but they fell through.

Honestly Ruby is a great dog, but she just cannot live with cats, and my cats are stressed out to the limit. I'm asking if anyone can take her, or ask around to the people you know, or ask people to ask people. I find it hard to believe that in all of the Peoria metro there isn't anyone who would take this dog, but I'm reaching out to the rest of Illinois and I will go out of state for the right situation.

DM me if you'd like to meet her. She is super friendly and very sweet!

Thank you.

Tattoo artist recommendations

Hi all, looking to book a 1:1 with a tattoo artist for my wife's birthday in August. My wife has wanted a tattoo for a LONG time and has ideas but needs an artist to bring them to life.

So, looking to find a clean, friendly artist that you think can bring my wonderful wife's vision to reality.

Thank you in advance.

Grand Mound Fireworks

I have always wanted to go and are planning to this year, but was curious what others experiences are? I believe they talk about coming early, but how early? What about where to park, sit, can you bring alcohol and a cooler if you're sitting all day, how about food or grills? Just kind of curious about everything. Thanks!

Anyone work at Walmart?

Any suggestions for which Walmart to transfer to in the quad cities? I wanna stay outta Iowa and move to moline of rock island but I’m not sure which Walmart would be best to transfer to. I know in my current area there’s three Walmarts and one is a really bad place to work but the other two are good places so was wondering if it’s the same in the quad cities?
