Scott’s absolutely gushing praise for Bill Maher on the last Pivot

Put all your feelings aside on Bill Maher’s last 30 years.

On his last show, Bill Maher told JD Vance *he is open to voting for Republicans in 2028*….

How in fuck’s sake is that not a dealbreaker for Scott? Are you kidding me? Scott is beyond clear about the unique danger of the current Republican Party. Yet mere days later, Scott talks for about five minutes about how awesome Maher is.

I was a huge Bill fan, watched every week, went to 10+ stand ups. Gave up on him a few months ago for all the MAGA friendliness. But his comment that he would vote for the party that he complains does not believe in elections was extraordinary. And extraordinary timing to hear Scott say this.

Our Congressman, when asked about other amputees in war zones.

He's really trying to provoke the guy filming into assaulting him. "Do something about it." Then celebrating about an event that, yes killed terrorists, but also killed and maimed civilians, including children. Is this who we really want representing us? Let's not forget that he also wore an Isreali uniform into the halls of Congress.

Has Bill Maher gotten a single concession from Donald Trump on anything?

Bill Maher's entire message lately has been we need to talk to the "bad people" because they are in power and you won't get any concessions from them if you refuse to talk to them. Well he's been at this for awhile, and has even met with Trump. Has Bill Maher accomplished getting Trump to concede any point or compromise on any thing, no matter how small? Because I can't think of anything. So far, the only person I've seen conceding is Bill Maher.

Bill Maher is known for platforming strong, politically forward thinking black men. I think he should get the other Stephen on Real Time next.

Are there really people that like Bill Maher?

I have always known of him but recently did a deep dive.

I find it hard to believe anyone would like him, even if they shared his politics.

I’ve never encountered a human being so smug and smarmy. He appears so deeply unlikeable that I have to assume some of it is put on, but to what end?

The audience in his studio seem to find him funny but I suspect that’s because they are paid to.

But are people eagerly tuning in to hear Bill’s take on things? I’m amazed he has a popular television show and sometimes respectable guests will talk with him.

EDIT:
Sorry I should clarify I’m talking strictly about Bill’s personality, not his politics, but I appreciate they are intertwined in some ways.
He has a way of speaking that I assumed human beings were almost hard wired to recoil from.
I don’t know what he is like as a person, but his on camera persona is just seems completely radioactive to me.

During Robert Blake’s Civil Trial (2005): “He’s going to be judged someplace else,” said Christian Brando.

During his testimony in Robert Blake civil trial in 2005, Christian Brando repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment right because he did not want to become involved in what he viewed as unreasonable questioning from Blake’s attorneys, especially since he was not closely involved in the victim’s life during her marriage to Robert Blake. However, he told the judge:

“This has been going on for five years. Mr. Blake’s been pointing the finger at me. I had absolutely nothing to do with this.”

Despite the fact that the Los Angeles police investigated and cleared him of any involvement, Robert Blake’s legal team attempted to shift blame toward him in a desperate move to protect their client.

Brando was subpoenaed in Blake’s civil trial. With his lawyer, Bruce M. Margolin, by his side, he invoked his Fifth Amendment right. Margolin said his client did not answer most of the attorneys’ questions because he did not want to open a “Pandora’s box” that would make his personal life the focus of the trial.

Brando also did not want to make statements in court that could be taken “out of context,” Margolin added.

“Blake’s defence apparently is trying to imply that [Brando] is involved in Blake’s domestic dispute with his wife,” Margolin said outside court.

“This was an attempt to implicate Christian in something he had no part in,” Margolin stated. “He does not in any way want to be implicated in this attempt.”

Outside the courthouse, reporters asked Brando whether he had any idea who may have killed Bonny Lee Bakley. He shrugged, smiled, and replied:

“Probably sitting up in the room there.”

— referring to Robert Blake, who was present in the courtroom.

Christian Brando was also asked how he felt about Blake being acquitted in the criminal trial.

“He’s going to be judged someplace else,” he said.

US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas caught walking through the House side of the Capitol where the Speaker's and GOP Reps' offices are: "Just here to pick up my checks." He loves checks and balances in our government. Especially his own checks and bank balances.
