Is this player.. working?

Hi!
Today, on a whim I bought a dusty, $8 1970s record player just because it was pretty (despite already having a modern, working record player lol).

It is an Arvin Solid State Phonograph.

It plugs in fine and when I turn the volume button, static starts to play so I feel that’s promising if it still turns on electrically.

But, the plate won’t spin.
I can spin it by hand, but it won’t do anything on its own.

I unscrewed it from its case and I found… this. I have not a singular clue what ANY of this is or means.

Can someone please tell me if anything looks wrong or how to check it myself? I have a 3 day window to be able to return this.

Sorry if this sounds very silly or beginner, because well.. I absolutely AM a beginner, I did not mean to fall down this rabbit hole lol

(Also is the needle in the last picture… even there? I don’t know vintage electronics, what is happening here???? )

Thanks for reading. Have a good day. ✌🏼

Pioneer PL-X 505

Hello everyone,

I've managed to score a Pioneer PL-X 505 from eBay for quite a cheap buck (it was 10€ including shipping). The record player itself works but there's a major issue: all the "automatic features" seem to be not working. It seems as if the player does not know where the record starts or stops and therefore things such as automated playing or auto stop don't work.

Has anyone an idea on what could be broken or what I need to have a look at? I am fine if it is unfixable but it would be nice if I could get it to work properly again.

Need help: balancing tonearm on Technics SL-Q2, total beginner, confused by the counterweight dial

Turntable was working fine, just need to rebalance the tonearm and I’m not 100% sure how to read the dial (photo attached).
Looks like the black knurled dial is counterweight + tracking force combined. Also I’m a bit neuro/autistic so all guidelines online confused me too 😭😭😭😭😭 I’d be down to do video call too plz

Needle replacement

Hey y’all, so I got a new turntable for the first time a few months ago and recently broke the needle off. I had a replacement stylus from my old turntable so I figured it may fit, but when I took off my current broken one - it was much different looking.

I’m looking to replace a “Shure Hi-Track” and my turntable is a Denon DP-30L II.

I’m hoping that I didn’t make a mistake when I took it off!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sanyo MG-7 cassette player help

Hey guys! I recently purchased this player off of ebay and there were a couple issues that I found. I bought this knowing it was going to be a fixer upper and figured it shouldn't be too hard. I replaced the belts, cleaned the corrosion off of the curcuit board with isopropyl alcohol, and tweaked the play speed for like an hour to get the perfect sound. All that's left to do is fix the left sound output. When I wear headphones, it is completely silent on the left side. The sound only plays on both ears if I put the jack in halfway. I am having trouble finding the right youtube tutorial for my model and would appreciate any help I can get. Because of the way the player is built, I can only truly examine the underside of the circuit board of I disconnect some wires which I'm trying to avoid. I do have a soldering kit but I would like to hold off until I know for sure what I need to do.

How to get rid of weird vinyl sound?

There’s some sort of sound from my vinyl it’s like static or crackling. It’s not separate from the music kind of pops and it’s sort of a high pitched echo that is very noticeable especially when the music is turned down lower. I tried a brush which I know won’t take the static away, and the vinyl is literally brand new as well as the turntable and stylus. I could be listening to the details too much and it might be perfectly normal

Aiwa PX30 stoppt direkt

Hallo zusammen!

Why does my record player sound high-pitched?

Today I wanted to listen to a vinyl and the vocals sounded higher-pitched than usual, I changed records but nothing changed, I then deduced that the problem was with my record player. It’s very slight but still noticeable, and the music doesn’t play any faster. I checked that it was set to 33 RPM, and I cleaned the stylus and the record, but nothing changed. This is my first record player and I’ve had it for about a year. I’ve never changed the stylus.
What could be causing this problem? Thanks for your answers!

Looking for compatible replacement

Basically I bought this big cabinet piece of Facebook marketplace where the guy built in speakers and a turn table. Turn table broke, local repair guy says it can’t be fixed because the Bluetooth chip in it is bad and overheating and I can’t even just play records off of it and say screw the Bluetooth. Problem is it’s hooked up to the speakers in a weird way. The repair guy said it would be best to find the same one I had because of how the table was built, he said the one I had had a built in amplifier and the turn table directly connected to the speakers to play, and if I bought a different kind I would potentially need an amplifier and also have to make sure the speakers I have can use speaker jack cords to go with new turn table. I know very little about this stuff so bear with me. I’m gonna include all the pics I can in the comments so you can see what I’m talking about with the wiring.

The turntable I had was a 1byone model 471NA. Which I also have gathered is a meh turntable anyways, but it sounded and seemed fine when it was working so I’m ok with it.

I’m asking if anyone knows if I could get a better quality one that could work with the system I have. I hope this makes sense and please ask questions if not, I just wanna get back to listening! Otherwise, I will shell out money for this model on eBay because it’s not sold like anywhere apparently. Thank you so much

Edit: You guys are the best thank you for all the helpful information in a way I could understand!

Help replacing needle and/or cartridge

Bought this console with a Garrad 3000 in it, needle was completely gone on it I wasn’t sure if the cartridge is still useable or not or if that needs to be replaced too? If so what needle or cartridge would I purchase to replace it? Says Tetrad G2 in the housing of the cartridge, can’t find any other information on it though. I know these things can be specific so I just want to make sure I’m purchasing the correct item. I have no clue about any of this so talk to me like I’m 5 if you could 😂 any info would be appreciated and if you need any other pictures or info just let me know.

Broken turntable

Hi everyone! I have an old JB systems disco 2000 from my dad. It wasn’t used often, but it sat still for quite some time. Now I’m trying to learn to dj and i have this one and an audio-technici. The problem is that the old one doesn’t spin at the right rpm. It goes faster and then slower. It like swings. The closest i get to exactly 33 rpm is when the pitch fader is at like +6%. Is it possible and worth to try to fix this or do i just get a new one?

Turntable lid swap

Does anybody have an idea how to best make this kenwood kd 1033 turntable lid and hinge to kd 2055?
The hinge is opposite hole layout for the three screws somewhat.

Hello all, new to this and will be acquiring this beauty in a few days, I’m looking to restore it and make some memories with my kiddos… the seller states the radio works but turntable doesn’t seem to work… was thinking of reaching out to a professional for repair and not taking the risk of damaging anything but wanted to see what others might recommend or ideas of where I should start or if it’s something that can be replaced if needed 🙏🥹 thank you in advance, so dang excited to be dancing around with my kiddos listening to it….

suggestions?

Asking for Knowledge from Turntable experts, purchased this Eatons Viking 1951/1952 Radiogram, the speakers work and the turntable does as well, as it is a tube model we know to be careful and not leave it plugged in, i mainly purchased because i love the look and history of This Model made in Canada. Can a replacement Needle be added here? it looks like it's possible but I have never tried to restore a record player before, any suggestions or tips are very helpful.

Have been unboxed from another Reddit user the thought that the heavy tonearm, will destroy records if it could be fixed. Is it possible to swap out the whole tonearm with a better one? or should I just keep this as a display/radio/bluetooth piece the speakers and radio work great.
