Moving from the Bay Area to Redding, CA — Looking for Honest Opinions
Hi everyone! I’m currently living in the Bay Area and considering moving to Redding, CA, around December.
I’d love to hear from people who have made the move from the Bay Area to Redding. How has your experience been? What do you like and dislike about living there?
I’m especially interested in:
Best areas to live: Safe neighborhoods with low flood risk.
Jobs: How difficult is it to find a good-paying job with opportunities for career growth?
Cost of living: Are the savings compared to the Bay Area worth it?
Lifestyle: What is it like living in Redding year-round, especially during the summer?
Things to consider: Anything you wish you had known before moving?
I’m looking for an honest perspective, both the good and the bad. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Is it normal for 20-25 mph gusts to shit down all rural power lines?

I ask because I’ve lived all over the US, and am originally from an area where we were used to 40+ gusts on the range. In Phoenix, I’ve been through 60-70 gusts. None of which has ever caused the power company to shut down power lines.

Now, I know the reason, and I concur. However it does pose the question of the quality of y’alls power lines in this state, ya know?

And they have all rejected me. I know it's only a small number of jobs I've applied at, but its drving me crazy. I can't find any more jobs that can hire at 15, can you guys give me some suggestions?

Drove to target earlier today and there was a pretty sizable crowd on Dana and Churn Creek wearing masks, costumes, and holding signs saying “dead pedophiles don’t reoffend.”

Genuinely asking, what is the point of this? Am I missing something? Aside from there being a lot of sex offenders in Redding.

Before anyone tries to twist my words, I’m in no way supporting pedophiles, justifying their behavior, feeling sorry for them, or anything like that. I’m a parent of a young daughter and think people who sexually abuse children are scum of the earth.

But I guess that’s my point, I feel like most if not all people feel like this. Isn’t this a universally agreed upon stance? So what are we protesting? Is there some type of call to action?

One of the signs said, “SAVE THE CHILDREN!”
Ok? How? What are they proposing?

Is the thought that some pedo is gonna be driving to Home Depot, see the signs, then think oh ok I bet not reoffend. I just don’t think that’s how it works.

They’re not hurting anybody out there and like I said it’s a message pretty much everyone can get behind just kinda seems like attention seeking and virtue signaling if there’s no actionable plan for change.

Anyone have more info?
