High astronomical tides over the next several days may lead to localized minor flooding.
Heads up, Humboldt Bay! High astronomical tides over the next several days may lead to localized minor flooding. Expect flooding to be possible in the two hours surrounding high tide, which on Monday night is 10:21 PM at the North Spit. This period of concern will shift about an hour later each night as we roll through Wednesday, after which we expect calmer seas. Stay safe!
As the November elections approach, don't forget who supported and help financed Measure A. Instead of taking accountability for a $5 million deficit created by city management, they asked Redding taxpayers to foot the bill and give the city some play money for "undisclosed" spending of $3 million
Redding citizens were going to be taxed an additional $150. more a year if Measure A passed.

⚠️ COMMUNITY AWARENESS... Mountain Lion Spotted In Redding Neighborhood

A mountain lion was reportedly spotted early Thursday morning (August 6th) in the Alta Mesa area of Redding.
While sightings like this are uncommon, mountain lions are native to our area and occasionally travel through neighborhoods, especially during the early morning and evening hours.
If you live nearby, it may be a good idea to keep cats, small dogs, and small children indoors whenever possible, supervise pets, and kids when they're outside (especially around dawn and dusk)
Keep livestock and pet food secured, and stay aware of your surroundings if you are walking or jogging in the area. People might use caution and not want to plan on exercising or walking dogs at sunset or just before sunrise (primary times of mountain lion hunting activities)
If you happen to see the mountain lion, don't approach it or attempt to follow it. Give it plenty of space and report any aggressive behavior or immediate public safety concerns to the appropriate authorities.
This post is simply meant to help keep our community informed and encourage everyone to take a few extra precautions with their pets and children.
Have you ever seen a mountain lion in your neighborhood?

youtu.beExpect traffic delays on Sunday, Aug. 16, for up to an hour or more.
Caltrans are urging motorists to avoid portions of Shasta County and the City of Redding on Sunday, Aug. 16, as the Ironman 70.3 Northern California triathlon is expected to cause significant traffic delays on several state highways and roads.
City officials estimate that providing municipal services (such as police, traffic control, permits, and public works) for the event will cost between $250,000 and $500,000. - Record Searchlight.
While the total operational costs for city services during the *three-year contract* approved by the Redding City Council for (2026–2028) are anticipated to reach between $250,000 and $500,000. The local tourism group and local non-profit Choose Redding Lodging from a specific 2% charge added to guest bills at participating local group lodging establishments help subsidize some of the costs. (I'm curious if that includes the local pedo hotels )

8 Years after the Carr Fire in Shasta County, what local concerns or unanswered questions do you still have?
Can someone help me understand the situation with the Carr Fire investigation? Given how much distrust there is in Shasta County toward Bethel, the police, and local officials, the whole thing feels off—especially around the anniversary.
How was the driver not charged with criminal negligence? Driving on a flat for almost a mile after being warned by a spouse to get it fixed seems like clear negligence that sparked a disaster. On top of that, a lot of what we learned about the driver in the news came third-hand from a local Bethel anti-abortion activist who "overheard" a CalFire worker (do we know if that's even true ) and started a letter campaign to console the driver. It really leaves you wondering if a well-connected person or Bethel family member was spared from prosecution.
People still talk about how it was handled when it first started. Some of it seems really odd to me, in my opinion, especially after reading old news articles and social media posts about it now 8 years later. I still have questions.
The consequences of the so called “Big Beautiful Bill” are starting to hit home in Shasta County.
The Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency has cut another $2 million from its Public Health budget since June. The cuts come partly in response to federal funding changes, and will reduce both staffing and services.
They do so much. Sad to see the cuts:

Foundations For Nations pastor Sarah Lucas who feature Sean Feucht & Bethel Church of Redding on their social media, gave a controversial sermon earlier this month called for Northern Arapaho Tribal members to denounce all their traditional ways as sinful idol worship.
Tribal council asked them to leave the reservation where the church was located on tribal land. The church responded that they were seeking donations from supporters to fund an anticipated legal battle ahead. Church leaders asserted they own the church property “and legally we can not be removed in this manner,”.
Anyone remember this? The City of Redding in 2021 authorized up to $2.47 million in federal, state, and local grant-funded loans to finance its early 3D-printed housing initiatives The funds were directed to the Redding-based affordable housing nonprofit, AccessHome.
Health officials are asking people across Northern California to pay attention to bat activity right now.

I want to hear you permit horror stories. This is exactly why people hate the City of Redding! They collect $220 for doing absolutely nothing! The City is basically the MOB now. Keep in mind that the Unit itself is around $600 and the contractor, who does all of the work charges $600.
Is obtaining construction permits easier in the City of Redding limits or in unincorporated areas in Shasta County ?
This article obviously supports Simpson University, but the writer unintentionally shows the reasons we should not. This theocratic worldview seeks to impose biblical law and religious supremacy over secular, political institutions, conflicting directly with the separation of church and state.
This is exactly why a medical school run by this organization would be a bad idea and is currently supported by Redding City Council and community members who graduated from Simpson. A bunch of very old men with outdated thinking and worldviews hinder medical advances based on religious dominionism. The Redding area would have a reputation of rolling back to the Dark Ages instead of medical advancement.
