Finally made it, GoD promo

This has been a long grind and I was blessed to get a TK for my promo game. Luckily, I only needed 100 points anyway.

Man, this has been long. I couldn't hit GoD for over a month, and I had to do a lot of labbing to get here. I know everybody and their gramps has already hit GoD, and it's season 2 green rank, yada yada, but man does it feel good after all the work.

By far, the most important aspect of ranking up is your mental state. You can spend hundreds of hours labbing, but the second you're tilted, your judgement is clouded and you cant capitalize on any of the skills or knowledge you have.
I guess the main takeaway I have from the grind is that Tekken is much like real life.
A lot of situations seem unfair, but in most of those situations, there are things you could've done better.

It's very much a test of your mental fortitude, and the more you let it affect you, the more "unfair" situations you will face. You need to have composure to see things for what they really are, and then, your success is only matter of time. And most importantly, you need to not forget to have fun because it's all that matters

POV: you traded with Reina (critical mistake)

There's a tech some may not know about. It works with Hei, Hwo, Jin, Reina and Lidia. If you get a jab trade with your sen2 like this, you are +15.
With all of those 5 characters you get a guaranteed df2, and with Hei, Hwo and Jin, the distance allows for an electric.

On paper, a 15f electric is easy, but you need to do it immediately when the window starts, which is pretty rough. Obv you can miss the window by 1-2 frames, but then you need a 14f electric or a pewgf respectively.
Only attempt electric if you're cracked as hell, otherwise just take your df2.

With rage, this specific combo is 147 dmg. If you don't have a wall, you can pop heat after wr4, and do your normal heat ender, thats still close to 130 dmg

Reached Tekken Emperor with other characters, but getting destroyed with Reina. Is it my Xbox D-Pad, or am I character-hopping too much?

I started playing Tekken 8 about two months ago when Kunimitsu dropped. I managed to reach Tekken Emperor with Lidia and Anna, and my Kuni is currently sitting at Bushin.

Recently, I picked up Reina and I am getting beaten hard. My win rate is sitting at 24% despite her being my most played character right now (44% usage rate). After watching some guides, I realized her strength is heavily tied to moves like the EWGF.

The problem? I play on a standard Xbox controller, and my execution is failing. I can't do Electrics, and even Hellsweeps are a struggle on the D-pad.

I have a few questions for the Mishima/Reina players out there:

1- Is the Xbox D-pad holding me back? Would switching to a leverless controller make playing Reina noticeably easier?

2- How hard is the transition to leverless? If I make the switch, how long does the muscle memory take to build?

3- Or is my issue character hopping? I've played Lidia, Anna, Kuni, and Reina all within a 2-month span. Some people say you need to stick with a main for 3+ months, but I like jumping around. Is this the real reason my Reina is struggling?

Any advice is appreciated!

Why did my hit do so little damage at the end?

Apology for the lower resolution it is due to potato mod
1280x720 Resolution and 40% Rendering Scale..

What helped you rank up from Tekken King/Tekken Emperor?

I'm currently at Tekken King. I can hold the rank solidly now and will probably reach Tekken Emperor next time I play. I just added a hellsweep at the wall Oki, and can actually throw-break and perform somewhat consistent electrics in neutral now which has helped me win games I definitely would have lost before. Additionally I've added f2,3 delay for counterhits which has been nice.

My combos aren't great, I'm practicing the staple combo but it's slow. I understand what to do for the instant while rising but it's going to take time. I need to stop procrastinating and learn the low parry combo route too because half the time I just df,2 then 2,2,2,2. If a wall isn't close I don't get much out of it. I'm waiting on my switch to leverless to really drill electrics and proper Wavu mixup,

Any advice I can implement now would be appreciated. Hopefully there's some tech I haven't heard before that can give me that boost.

A bit late to the party, but I’m so grateful Yagami exists

Wow, what a guy. I think this is the best Yagami we’ve ever seen. I legit haven’t felt so thrilled watching pro scene in a while. To put up such an amazing performance against so many pros while also being unsponsored. It’s a total glaze on my end, but he deserves it.

On the other note, I don’t know if anybody watched EWC on Phid’s stream, but those comms were delusional. Nobody denies the strengths of Reina, but it turned into a 30 minute rant and just felt so invalidating to what Yagami’s done on this tournament. Anyway, just looking forward to seeing him take the next tourney because it’s like this guy is getting better day by day

No matter how hard I try I can no land the WS 3 4 after the war godkick CH. Is it just something too high level?

Spinning wakeup kick punish

This is the optimal punish at the wall for that wakeup kick. if you hit SEN 2 on backturn, you get a guaranteed df1,2 at the wall, and most of the time they should turn around so you get a guaranteed wall splat.

If the wall is too close, and the second and third hit hit them when they are already against the wall, then they will turn around early. in that case you can just do ff2, SEN2, into df1,2.

Mind that at tip range it's only -16, so youre better off doing something like f2,3, SEN1+2, HW3+4.

GOD I is mine now

Being learning about ways to defend without losing pressure, also I've been utilizing ewk way more than before not just after hitting 3+4,4 or SEN 4.

Struggling with Reina combos

Hello guys,

I'm a new Tekken player. I started playing about 4–5 months ago and picked up AK. I recently hit Tekken Emperor with him and now I want to take a break from AK and try reaching the same rank with another character.

I've decided to pick Reina, but the thing I'm struggling with is her combo routes. There are so many different launchers and combo variations for decent damage. With AK, a normal BnB would usually do around 60 damage without heat wall or stage interactions, and most of the routes were pretty similar.

With Reina, though, there are so many combo videos on YT and every one of them shows different (and often really hard) routes for decent damage. It's honestly pretty confusing, and I'm not sure what I should be learning.

I don't mind difficult combos I can sit in practice mode all day if I have to. I just want a few consistent combo routes that work for most situations

I know AK isn't as mechanically demanding as Reina. Right now I'm pretty consistent with Reina's EWGF and her electric kick.

If you guys know of a good combo guide or a YTube video that focuses on consistent BnBs, I'd really appreciate it.

Any other advice regarding the character will also help

:)
