20" All Season on Max?
Looking to buy a R1S Dual Max or Tri shortly. Is there any way get 20" All Seasons on the Max battery configurations? It seems like I can only do it via spending either 4k for a 2nd set of rims and tires, or spend 4k on AT and then buy aftermarket 20" AS. Is there any way they can do a custom config if I contact Rivian?

Unintentional door opening
So I attempted to recreate the problem in this video, however i wasn’t even able to exactly recreate it. TLDR: I’ve accidentally popped open my drivers door when in reverse twice now. This is happening when the doors are locked, is there a setting that makes it so the button needs to be pressed twice ? Anyone else experience this ?
I do sit pretty far from the pedals for a shorter person. Short of child locking my own door (which I’m not sure I can even do) any ideas ?
ETA thanks to those who did help, and take this seriously. On the advice of some here, and my sales rep, who said he had the exact same thing happen when he test drove the gen2 for the first time, I submitted a report to NHTSA for safety.
Y’all sit as close as you want, lemme know how good it feels when your sternum collides with either airbag or steering wheel in a crash.

What have you discovered so far from Rivian Assistant?
Want to see if anyone is willing to share what functions you discovered from Rivian Assistant. I will start:
- it can close/open garage without touching the screen or the wheel scroll button.
- it can add stop or final destination to an existing navigation route
- it can turn on car camera and alternate between views without touching
- open apps like YouTube, Apple Music, GearGuard, Control panel
- complex command like I am cold and please turn on my seat heater

Finally Joined the Rivian Family!
After literal years of research, we finally made the leap and sprang for this 2025 Tri Max Ascend. Absolutely love it so far! We're already talking about maybe replacing our other vehicle with an R3X down the road lol. Glad to be part of the Rivian family!

Rivian r1s caught fire
To all you driving a rivian r1s , be careful when you park it inside your garage , my 8 month old 2025 caught on fire when parking and not charging
We love the car, but the way rivian handle this make me disappointed , i called rivian many time and no one can answer my simple questions like when they will come to check it out and investigation
Someone from rivian just contact me after like 2week, i told them im done with rivian

Anyone have a dual motor max pack battery R1S that they like?
Really really considering buying this version of the R1S beause I don’t really need the speed of the tri and quad motors. And I can’t justify spending so much on it.
Dual motor max pack sounds like the right fit for me and my family but I never really see posts about it. So just wanted to see if people on here have it and their thoughts on it

ANNOUNCEMENT - you can now get Cruise Control Resume on Rivian
WHAT? you say. They told us that was impossible!!
The lack of resume has been one of the most annoying things about my Rivian but I absolutely love it otherwise.
When I got my Comma device I figured that it ought to be possible to leverage it to provide a resume feature, but those already working on the Rivian side of things told me it was not worth trying. 'Not possible" they said. I didn't believe them.
So I set about learning how the whole open source openpilot/sunnypilot system works and am now pleased to announce a beta release of this feature in my fork of Sunnypilot/master
If you have a Comma device with the Rivian longitudinal extension, load up this branch from Geomglot/rivian-resume.
If you don't have a Comma device then you might want to look at getting one if you want resume on your Rivian.

R1 Gen2 Camera Hardware meets or exceed Tesla HW3 & HW4 Vehicles so some level of turn-by-turn local autonomy and summon is capable.
Basically, The Gen 2 hardware would not be the limiting factor; in many areas (resolution, redundancy, compute) it is actually more capable on paper.
The main “bottlenecks” would shift from hardware to data scale, model training, and certification/regulatory rather than sensors or TOPS.
Tesla still ahead today because Tesla’s HW4 is paired with a much more mature behavior‑cloning‑style stack and enormous real‑world data volume, so even though Rivian’s sensors and nVidia Orin‑based compute are strong, Tesla’s software is the current performance ceiling.
The bottom line: I’ve heard that the ambition for Gen2 went from “Point to Point” in early 2025 to “on ramp to off ramp” in the last several weeks. But there’s no reason Rivian R1 Gen2 and early R2 (No LiDAR) vehicle owners should be limited from local, turn by turn, point to point autonomy.
Is it crazy to be annoyed by this change of tune by Rivian leadership?

A blessing or a worry: I was giving a brand new battery
So I went to a level 3 charger and when I plugged my car in I got a message saying “Vehicle battery issue
Service needed.” I called as I was charging the car and they set up an appointment for me for a regular service. I got the car with about 15k miles and I’ve had it for a year and it’s got about 43k miles. So I drove almost 27k miles in a year. When I get to the service center for my appointment I told them my name and let them know why I was here. The tech told me that they got a error or a type of code while looking into the “Vehicle battery issue
Service needed.” That appeared on screen so they are going to change out the entire battery. I asked can you explain the error code and the tech told me it was pages and pages of error code and that it would be hard to explain. It ended it with just think of it as your getting a brand new car. Obviously since the b battery of an Ev is like the engine of an ICE vehicle.
It is all under warranty and I’m getting a brand new battery from factory without even making a complaint about my battery. I am happy about getting a new battery and also how preemptive Rivian was on solving the issue before I even was made aware of it. I just wish I had some more information. They told me my warranty is still intact and it was nothing I did personally more of an internal issue with the battery. If any one has had this issue in the past I would love some details on this. They also mentioned my warranty was still until 175k miles.
So please let me know your thoughts or if anyone has any more information about this and or if they have had this happen in the past and why?
