This was news from March 2026:
U.S. Women’s National Team forward Catarina Macario is joining the San Diego Wave, the club announced. ESPN reported that the contract, which runs through 2030, is worth roughly $8 million total. That would be the largest contract in the world for a women’s soccer player and marks the second known use of the NWSL’s new High-Impact Player Rule. The first was Trinity Rodman, who signed a three-year extension with the Washington Spirit.
Since joining Chelsea in 2023, Macario has played 27 matches for the English side and scored seven goals. She played the two previous seasons with Lyon of Division 1 Féminine in France. She won three domestic league titles between the two clubs. Although Macario has played her entire professional career overseas, she did play youth soccer in the San Diego area after moving from Brazil in 2011. She became a citizen in 2020 and won two NCAA championships at Stanford University.
Barcenas looks quite mediocre and then all of a sudden looks like Messi for a few seconds. What a goal. She hit the bar too with her right foot. So close.
Leon was so close to her redemption game winner.
Ludi took too many touches. That’s a lack of confidence.
Why Byars on the wing???
Fazer has improved a lot.
Godfrey looked great. Then I think she got tired.
We looked so good for the first two thirds of the game. Should have won!!
Bumping this post from this spring. Since this post Ludmila remains at 1 goal, Byars is up to 6 (all from ST position), and Leon falls to 0 in last 365.
My question: how does Ludmila continue to earn striker starts? Many say she stretches the backline, but that never results in goals.
Follow up question, what’s the thought process behind bringing Leon on for Ludmila but not shifting Byars to ST?
Frankly I’m pretty dumbfounded by quite a few decisions Eidevall makes. I’m aware options are thin but it almost feels like he’s over managing. Put the best players in their best positions.
Ludmilla couldn’t hit a cow’s a** with a banjo. -Tim Howard (probably)
are my eyes DECEIVING ME ?
edit: lol we were just trolled so hard, it like they forgot she’s even on the team
Wave's xG was 0.57 with 5 shots on target during the match. The ratings are by Sofascore.

My wheelchair unfortunately broke today and won’t be repaired until after the match. I have two ADA tickets section 105 if anyone wants them!
EDIT: Someone claimed these. Thanks!
Visiting this weekend and I was thinking about going to Friday’s match against the Denver Summit solo.
What section would you recommend I get a seat in?
Also, where would you recommend I go grab a drink and watch the Wings game beforehand?

Tough loss. We need to stop dropping these matches on those mediocre shots. We need a GK who can stop that.
Mimi was great again. A big missing piece being her poor read on high balls. Led to Reiten hitting the post.
Barcenas does not have the speed or strength to be a starter. Give us Leon instead. I know I’ll get downvotes for saying this but it’s true.
Fusco over Ludi as a sub made no sense.
Sad to say but the game is getting too fast for Dali. Too late a touch in front of our own box led to Shaw’s winning goal.
Godfrey was great again.
Corley had a great game. That pass to Byars was so close. But the pass at 75 min should have been a shot with the GK in the wrong place.
Excellent defense throughout.
We should sign a superstar at 1.6M a year. That should turn things around.
Felt like we did our subs too late. Instead of 10 mins left like we should have done at least 20 mins.
