Do you consider collectibles a good investment?

Stuff like coins, post stamps, even bills.. Do you think such investments are decent?

I feel like this is close to collecting precious metals. They dont lose value and the historic context makes it worthwhile. Albeit seems like this would be a saving plan for a future generation to enjoy, or even for my grandkids if I manage that long haha. I already been collecting coins and stamps since I was around 8, so its close to being two decades old by now. Humble at first but now I got several albums worth of coins

What do you think?

Sidenote, should I even look at Pokemon cards? Looks like a hot market, though I feel like it has no historic influence apart from being hyped by kids and collectors alike

how to save money fast when everything is on fire rn

wife's been on me for weeks about how to save money fast bc our account balance is basically one pizza order and im not exaggerating
two kids, one just started needing braces (why isnt that covered lol) other one needs new shoes every 8 weeks somehow. so i started actually trying to figure out how to save money fast instead of waiting on a raise thats never coming. i've cancelled 2 streamers we forgot we had, brought lunch to work, saved like $40/week, now i have 6 tupperwares living in my car and meal prepped on sundays, lasted 2 weeks before we caved and ordered pizza again

tried one of those round up your change apps too, seemed smart til the monthly fee ate half the savings. felt like a scam with extra steps. my brother in law keeps saying "just invest it" like i have extra cash sitting around
anyone actually found something that works without becoming another chore? im out of ideas here

How much money should you have saved by 30

I had an interesting experience. I was out with some friends and invited over a coworker to join us for some drinks. She wasnt doing much so seemed like shes been lonely. Anyways, we hit it off quite well, chatting up, drinking, though then I mentioned the lady from work how much I had saved, and while she was a tad bit tipsy she sort of laughed off the savings I had. She had some savings from her relatives herself so I get it that she didnt get the hell I went through to have what I have, though felt poor like I havent felt in a while. Always felt like Im doing quite well compared to how life was for me but seems like nope. Probably this is why some say never ask a man his salary. That questions gonna haunt you for weeks. Got me wondering if I didnt save enough for a comfortable future

So anyways, how much do you think one should have by 30s?

What stocks are future-proof the best?

I was getting into stocks and been throwing money left and right on a whim at first. Not big amounts just around batches of 20 or 50 dollars. Feels like the money is in a sea thats constantly moving up and down haha. I sometimes see negatives, other days they flow in with extra cash

So now I got into making more thoughtful investments. Made investments into stuff like industrial construction firms, some medical care businesses, and Nvidia... What are some other stocks that are likely to be future-proof? Meaning that they will always be in demand

I heard that technology developments can influence how the markets could shift. Happened before in the past, so now kind of wondering what could I go for

Does getting married affect your credit score? getting engaged and kinda worried

genuinely asking does getting married affect your credit score because my fiancée and i are planning the wedding for next spring and i keep hearing different things from different people. i'm in the US (north carolina) and my credit score is around 760 which i've worked really hard to build up over the last 5 years. my partners is around 620 and that gap is stressing me out.

mom keeps telling me that once we're married our scores "merge" and mine will drop. my coworker said the same thing happened to him. but then i googled it and some articles say marriage has zero direct impact on your individual score so no idea lol.

the part that confuses me is the joint accounts thing. we already have a joint checking account and nothing happened to my credit when we opened it. but we're planning to buy a house next year and the mortgage broker said they pull both scores when you apply jointly. so even if our scores don't technically merge, my partners 620 still affects our interest rate and approval odds right? that feels like it affects my credit situation even if the number itself doesn't change.

tried calling experian to ask directly and sat on hold for 45 minutes before giving up. checked their website and the FAQ says "marriage itself does not affect your credit score" but then lists about 10 ways it indirectly can which felt like a very corporate way of saying "yes but technically no."

has anyone's credit score actually changed after getting married and if so what caused it? and for couples with a big score gap, how did you handle the mortgage application? trying to figure out if we should work on my partners score first before buying.

When is the best time to buy a home? first time buyer completely lost

trying to figure out when the best time to buy a home is because i keep getting contradicting advice from literally everyone. i'm in the US (colorado) and been renting for 6 years now paying $1,800 a month which feels like just dropping my money in the trash bin lol but every time i look at buying something the numbers scare me off.

my parents keep saying to just buy now because "you're throwing money away on rent" but they bought their house in 1998 for like $140k and it's worth $500k now so they don’t really understand my struggle.

i talked to a mortgage broker last month and she said fall and winter are technically better for buying because there's less competition and sellers are more motivated. but then my coworker who just bought in january said he overpaid because there was barely any inventory and he had no options. so less competition but also less to choose from?

i ran the numbers and with my salary ($78k) and about $35k saved for a down payment i could technically afford something around $350k.

has anyone bought recently in a similar price range and salary and actually felt comfortable with the payments? and is timing the market even worth stressing over or should i just buy when i find something i like and can afford?

Investing into gold?

Was thinking of alternatives for saving... What if I buy some gold blocks..? A small block of gold is worth quite a lot. Aint hard to hold it too

Has anyone experienced with investing into precious metals?

I was also considering silver, though gold seems like a way less bulky alternative. Or should I just go for stocks? Gold is only going up and wont stop unless some kid will figure out how to synthesize gold in his garage😂
