Bus pass provided?

I'm a new student coming into Schulich this September. I live outside of Toronto and I'm going to be taking public transit back and forth between my home and York. Does York provide me with a Toronto presto card free of charge to get to and from school? If so, how do I apply for that card

Schulich Laptop recommendations

Hi everyone! Looking into getting a laptop for school but I don't know where to start. I've been recommended getting a MacBook air, but I'm unsure if the laptop is overkill and if it will be a headache with MacOS. Does anyone have any recommendations (or specs) for a laptop which will last all four years and run anything that I would need to do smoothly? Thank you very much!

I accidentally got an internship

I’m an incoming first-year student, and I unexpectedly landed a part-time internship at a large Gambling company for this september. It’s up to 20 hours a week, but there may be a scheduling conflict with my ACTG 2010 lecture. I should still be able to attend the tutorials.

For anyone who has taken ACTG 2010, how important are the lectures compared to the tutorials? Are lectures usually recorded or is enough material posted online to keep up on your own? Is attendance mandatory?

I really want to take the internship because I think getting corporate experience this early could help me land better internships in the future, but I also don’t want to hurt my grades. Would you take the internship in this situation?

Class of 2026 grad. Got the degree and the experience.

Saw lots of kids starting school, some juniors as well, always happy to engage with the community. Ask your questions, will reply on and off.

Disclaimer: Textbook and those kinds of questions are previously asked, and they keep changing stuff, so will not engage with them too much.

How much high school math do I actually need for the Schulich BBA?

Hi! I’m starting the BBA at Schulich this September and I’m a little worried about the math.
I took Advanced Functions and Calculus & Vectors in Grade 12, but honestly I didn’t learn much from them, especially Calculus & Vectors since I took it online.
For current/graduated Schulich BBA students, will this be a problem throughout the program? Do professors generally teach the math you need for each course, or are you expected to already know Grade 12 Advanced Functions/Calculus?
Is there anything specific you’d recommend reviewing before starting?
Thanks!

Questions about MBAN and other future opportunities

I’m excited to share that I have been admitted to the Master of Business Analytics program at York University’s Schulich School of Business, and have received the $30,000 Schulich Entrance Award of Merit.

As I am about to enter my final year of undergraduate study, this offer means a lot to me. It feels like an important recognition of my academic growth, professional experiences, and long-term interest in data, technology, and business decision-making.

At the same time, I am still thinking carefully about my next step. I am continuing to explore other graduate programs, while also considering whether gaining more full-time work experience after graduation may be the better path.

One question I have been reflecting on is how to evaluate graduate opportunities. Should I give more weight to overall school reputation, or to a program and environment that is more willing to invest in my growth and provide direct support?

I would love to hear thoughts from people who have made similar decisions between graduate school, career opportunities, program reputation, and long-term fit

Here is also my linkedin www.linkedin.com/in/daniel-liu-61058029b as a reference

Also this is my first reddit post,I wasn't sure about the rules, let me know if i need to delete anything.

I am a Schulich alum (2012). Ask me anything

If there’s something I can help with to demystify being a student, graduate, or alum, I’m happy to help.

International student starting Schulich in September — any advice?

Hi everyone! I’m an international student starting at Schulich this September. I’ve only been in Canada for about 1.5 years and did Grade 12 here, so I’m still pretty unfamiliar with how university works.
I’m especially nervous about the workload and keeping up with readings/assignments since English isn’t my first language. I know university is very different from high school, so I’d really appreciate any advice from current/former Schulich students.
How do you recommend studying and managing your time? Any tips for assignments, using AI appropriately without getting into academic-integrity issues, or just adjusting to university in general?
Also, what are the best clubs/events for meeting people and making friends? Honestly, any tips for first year—academic, social, or anything else—would be really appreciated!

York Finance Club and Schulich Consulting Club

Hello, r/Schulich

I'm entering first year this fall, and I am extremely interested in getting first-year-rep positions in the coming fall. However, I am very well aware of how difficult and competitive these positions are.

I was wondering if any upper-year students could share some advice on what helped them stand out during the application process, what qualities clubs look for in first-year reps, or anything they wish they knew going into the process.

I’d really appreciate any insight or advice. Thank you!

Attendance Question

I’m an incoming first year and I was wondering what the most skippable classes were due to the fact that there is no mark deduction based on attendance and the information being simple?
