Why is ffxiv becoming more and more unhinged

Met this total lunatic the other day who clearly lost the plot. You're supposed to just play the damn game, but instead, they have zero life outside of it, completely cut off from friends and family. They’ve somehow convinced themselves that an MMO is a valid substitute for a real-life connection, unironically begging people for actual, serious relationships. Shocker: nobody thinks that's normal. People ERP to get off, that's it. It's just pixels. Nobody wants you dumping your real-world desperation into the game and expecting it to carry over into real life.

Lately, way too many people treat FFXIV like a personal relationship simulator instead of a game. This person is literally still a sprout and is already tangled in reality-TV level drama. How?! I never see them actually doing any content. Whenever I ask what they're up to, it's always some non-game nonsense, like how they just caught their "in-game crush" cheating on them. What the actual hell? It's a video game! Have some fun, you miserable bastard. Go farm some useless Occult Crescent trash or grind for mounts. Why on earth are you on FFXIV if you're looking for a soulmate? Go get on Tinder! They're paying a monthly sub just to run around venues, play zero content, and hunt for drama. Couldn't be me!

The look you get from mfs who know that Hrothgar from the Whothefuckcares Swamps in the east have an extra nipple because they did yellow quest #952 to collect ten tiger asses and got rewarded with 12 gil and some high school writing:

Serious question

So someone asks a genuine question in the primary "official" sub and gets downvoted into oblivion, even if the answers are helpful. Meanwhile, some absolute nothingburger post gets several hundred updoots, bonus if it's a skimpily dressed catgirl.

What gives? Is it something that I'm not terminally online enough to understand?

How is studying for a raid encounter hardcore exactly?

so you watch youtube videos and memorize the floor mechanics
and youve already memorized your rotation for years because youve played for that long

what makes that hardcore

its all preset stuff. all predictable. the only variable is one person not remembering something and getting everyone killed. which the sweats will crucify them for because how dare they not already git gud from raid guides.

Van baelsar if he was hungry

Found the snacklish translator and couldn’t help myself. I know the text is hard to read at this size but trust me when I say it’s also hard to read at normal size.

You Pull I Heal

Made this to convey my complex feelings regarding a topic in another sub, but I spent 15 minutes on it and that's 15 minutes too much so I need to get my mileage out of this thing.

I thought I was having a bad day… then my best friend sent me this

I thought I was having a bad day because my fairly new gaming chair broke today and I was pretty annoyed. Then my best friend sent me this after clearing an Ultimate and suddenly my day didn’t seem so bad anymore. 💀 Shoutout to my best friend for making me laugh so hard.
