I got into sifu bc of secret level

I was scrolling instagram reels and saw a cool animation of a guy eating dumplings, read a comment saying it was from/based on a game. Read another one briefly describing the aging/death system.

I thought that was cool af and ended up playing the game. I've loved every minute of it. I was just wondering if anyone else discovered the game the same way? Or if anyone wants to share how they got into it?

I can't be the only one who HATES these mfs right?

All they do walk around slow asf, then the moment they hit you ONCE they start feeling themselves and start taunting you saying "Did you forget how to fight?" SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

Then they keep using that damn grab move and all I can say when I'm too late to dodge is get your greasy, misshapen, fat hands off me. Only person that can hold me like that is Kuroki.

Don't even get me started on the one you fight at the beginning of the museum. "Don't make me run.." it's not like you have the cardio to run anyway. Every punch you throw sets your stamina back by ages

Sifu Advanced Moves Discussion

Hello students and masters alike!

I've recently got back into this game with a determination to master it this time. I love games like DMC that seems to have an infinite skill cap and as i got back into Sifu realised how much of a masterpiece this game is. I was also delighted and suprised to see how many active people are on this sub for a five year old singleplayer game like this.

Unfortunately it doesn't seems like there are any particularily tech-savy people who have datamined stun and damage values/other properties for various moves so i'd love to have a discussion about what some of the special moves in the game do and in particular how their reversed counterparts perform.

As an example, palm strike is a move that has a very clear inital use when you get into your first fight:

- can be used from most moves without much delay

- has inherent pushback which has value with stuff like chasing trip strike and enviromental damage when an enemy hits a wall, or as they're pushed through other enemies.

On the other hand, the reversed palm strikes benefits are fairly obvious when you try it out: more range, more interupt potential (?), waaayyyy higher stun damage especially if you interupt an attack as well as gaining more base damage.
With this move we see a vast difference in what benefits it gets when you do the reversed version. Palm strike just juices it self up by getting a big base stat boost for damage, stun and range. On the other hand something like sweep gains an entirely new property when reversed in that it can now duck highs. On top of that Sloclap went sicko mode and made reverse moves for nearly every base move the protagonist has. I think one of the few exceptions is the multi-hit crane/claw like light attack ender.

So what do you think are the best reversed moves and how do they differ from the neutral forward versions?

As i got back to the game i recently discovered that reversed duck strike gains a hard stun even on heavies if you interupt an attack with it. it also obviously gains some super armor. But what about the less discernible reverse moves?

For example i've been wondering exactly how much stronger the charged back fist is to the charged fist. they both stun and can interupt. Does the charged backfist just beef up it's base stats? does it acutally stun enemies harder as if it's a simulated full dizzy state? Is it capable of stunning in situations where the normal one can't? What about crotch punch? it seems like there isn't much that crotch punch gains from reversal.

maybe we can compile a big thread that consolidates all the information we know about move variants for newer and returning players? This goes for any move ofcourse, not just reversed ones.

I'd love to have a discussion and to know everyone's thoughts!

How does John Sifu even get to the locations?

Does he drive or does he walk? He has to drive right? Because there's no way he walked all around the city for an entire day while fighting as well

Sifu on Switch in 2026, has the performance improved?

I haven’t played my Switch in a while and was looking through the eShop sales when I noticed Sifu is on sale. I’ve never played it, but I’ve been really interested in it for a while, and I’d honestly prefer to play it handheld. However, when I looked up the Switch version, I saw a lot of older posts saying that the port isn’t very good, especially because it’s locked to 30 FPS and can apparently have dips/stuttering. Some people were even saying that Switch is probably the worst platform to play Sifu on. For anyone who’s played the Switch version recently (2025/2026), how is it actually nowadays? Has anything improved through patches, or is it basically the same port? And more importantly, how does the 30 FPS actually feel during combat? Is it genuinely problematic for Sifu’s parries/dodges, or is it something you get used to? I have other platforms I could play it on, but I’d really like to have it handheld if the Switch version is good enough. Just wondering what people’s experience has been recently before I buy it.

Does anyone have a modern tutorial on how to mod that isn't from 4 years ago?

Recently I've been trying to mod a character as the main one but it has been too difficult for me to understand, and the doc about how to mod Sifu has an essential part deleted, help?
