Behold this behemoth of a (?)brooch that I inherited from my grandmother
Nobody else wanted this when my grandmother died, about 25 years ago now. I only noticed a few years ago that it's Sterling silver so not exactly the "costume junk" it appears at first glance. Total weight is 120g, but a lot of that would be the giant chonking amethysts in the middle.
I saw a similar one for sale in a notoriously overpriced antique store for about $600 a couple of years ago.
Anyway, I'm hanging onto this one. It's impractical for anything other than costume use (even then...) but it's so cool and heavy to hold.
