An update on the https://www.reddit.com/r/Simkl/comments/1ukw725/tv_time_is_officially_dead_as_of_today_will_be/
Over the last few days, we've pushed multiple improvements to TV Time import at https://simkl.com/apps/import/tvtime/
If you have previously done an import and saw some movies that could not be detected (due to movie title year mismatches in TV Time export) or you had watch time imported on the same day, you can now re-import it again for newer match models.
Alternatively, you can clean your account data at https://simkl.com/settings/login/clean-or-delete/ and do a fresh import
If you're still having some difficulties with import, don't forget to try from a computer and not a mobile phone, and disable any Adblock extensions or Adblock DNS\VPN which may block the uploads.
If you see any additional improvements we can make or if something isn't working for your zip file, do let us know on Discord https://discord.gg/u89XfYn or through https://support.simkl.com
I just switched from TV Time and am shook at how amazing simkl is! I already added watch dates to space out my bulk import. Mwah chef’s kiss!
However for some reason the stats don’t show reality tv shows in my all time most watches.
Like it says The Good Wife is my most watched show but I watched Real Housewives of New Jersey which has like over 200 episodes. Doesn’t it count reality tv or is it a glitch?
Hi, first of all, thanks for such a great platform. It's really fun to be able to integrate all my tracking into one place.
But I'm having problems with the default search results. First I stumbled upon this problem when I tried the search for The Thing (1982). Result was really bad. Then I tried to reproduce it with something more popular, and tried The Godfather (1972). The result is horrible. The Godfather, which is ranked at number 2 on this platform, shown as the 80th search result when I type the exact name of it. I have to switch the "sort by" option to Movie rank, which is annoying since I shouldn't have to do that to find such an obvious result with the default algorithm.
There is an "exact match" option too and it shows how bad the result it. When I toggle "exact match" only 8 results remain and The Godfather is at 7th. (8th one, the only one it actually surpassed, is an entry with no information or cover image)
I searched for "The Terminator" too, when I type the exact name of the movie, it's shown as 62nd search result even though it's ranked as 410 in movies. A movie called "Angry Planet" (2008) (movie rank 300k) is ranked higher than The Terminator, at 53rd spot.
I believe the default "Relevance" algorithm could use some major improvements. The weight of the release date could be decreased, or the weight of the movie's overall rank/popularity could be increased.
Hello everyone. I recently manually transferred my watch list and watched shows into Simkl, and I like the service. But I've noticed that Simkl is using AI for coding and other miscellaneous tasks, and I feel as though people that choose to pay for pro or vip should at least have a disclosure of its use so they know what they are paying for.
There are many small details or aspects that reveal they were coded likely with Claude. For example this pop up on the all time page is obviously vibe coded, which you can tell by the font, the way its laid out the top right being colored and a * between the two words, then the bottom instructions and escape to close. I'm no expert and I can't explain to you why, but I have coded with AI before and this is the most blatantly vibe coded box ever.
Font, coloring, and instructions all scream AI
I looked online and found 3 random entirely vibe coded websites that you can look at for reference if you do not believe me
I am not claiming that the entire website is vibe coded, nor do I believe it is, but it is clear that it is being used, and it should at least be made clear.
Also, this video which is on the homepage for Simkl is so obviously AI generated, the voice and the video, they couldn't even just take stock video of a beach and put some text over it with someone talking, they had to generate it, which reveals a lot about the company.

I'm not making claims on weather this is good or bad, I understand coding takes time, and AI helps speed it up, but I also do not trust an AI back-end to store my very big watch list, so if the team could make it clear on what they use AI for and why, it would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Looking at the docs, specifically the API section its clearly AI generated take this snippet:
"Build apps that track Movies, TV Shows, and Anime — scrobble playback, sync watchlists in seconds (not minutes), and pull rich metadata.
The Simkl API lets you extend Simkl — the dream “TV, Anime and Movie Tracker” — into your own apps. Build a media-center plugin, a mobile tracker, a browser extension, or anything else you can dream up. Every request uses HTTPS, returns JSON, and follows REST conventions.
Users open your app and see their library in seconds — not minutes. Most trackers re-download the whole watchlist on every launch; that’s the spinner your users sit through. Simkl’s two-phase sync — check a tiny timestamp, fetch only the items that changed — means returning users see everything instantly, and your app moves only the bytes that actually moved. The Sync guide has the pattern with reference implementations in Node and Python."
Although being short it sounds a lot like AI and is detected as such in various tools, no human writes like that, not even in documentation.
I set up a Simkl yesterday as one of many TVTime refugees and it was really good. But I've logged in today and the layout seems totally different. TV > My List had lots of filters in the sidebar which allowed me to narrow down my watchlist but it seems to have been replaced with overly simple filters at the top.
Has the site changed or have I fiddled with a setting somewhere?
Hello,
I'm a new user coming from TV Time.
Unlike TV Time, Simkl has the anime separated by seasons.
If I mark a season 1 has watched will I get a notification warning me about the premier of the next seasons?
One thing i dont like so far is how old eps of a show still show up if im currently watching love island season 13 but it still shows me eps from s1-12 pending to watch in the aired section is there a way to remove that
So here I am a refugee; hoping to get the same experience TV Time offered
Hello, I have a couple of questions and may have missed something obvious. I will primarily be using the web version and not a mobile app, so my questions pertain to that.
First, is there a specific reason the upcoming episodes of Love Island don't show in Airing Next but are visible on the Calendar?
The second question is: Is there no single-click way to mark an episode as just watched? Having to click into an episode, choose a date and time, and then choose save feels counterintuitive. Having that option when you're trying to backdate something is useful, but not for quick tracking.
Thanks
I am tempted to make the switch from Trakt to Simkl as many others have. I don't have Trakt connected to any of my apps, I manually mark episodes and movies as watched via the Trakt mobile app.
Two questions;
I set up my Simkl account a while ago and my watch history is off. Is it possible to start fresh and re-pull my latest status from Trakt?
What is the easiest way to mark episodes as watched? It doesn't seem obvious from the dashboard, maybe I'm missing something?
Anyone regret moving from Trakt? I'll likely pay for Simkl to support the devs like I did for Trakt before they doubled the price overnight.

Hey everyone,
TL;DR: Our biggest-ever Stats page is live, and the full all-time view is free for everyone: a watch heatmap, watch streaks, your viewer archetype, a binge report, top genres and directors, and a lot more. VIP adds Year in Review and Month in Review. There's also an easter egg hiding on the heatmap that we're not explaining. See yours: https://simkl.com/my/stats/
That's the fun of it. Which decade your taste actually lives in. The director you keep coming back to without ever noticing. The weekday you always end up bingeing. The day you put away a dozen episodes of one show in one sitting. How this year's you stacks up against last year's. Stuff you could never really see about yourself before, now sitting on a single page, and genuinely fun to scroll through.
The best part: the full all-time page is free for everyone. No trial, no "unlock your own data." If you've tracked anything on Simkl, it's already there.
Total stats, all time. Free for everyone:
All of it comes from your own watch history. No algorithm guessing, no AI filler.
About VIP, since someone will ask. The all-time page is free and staying that way. VIP adds two things on top: Year in Review (pick any year) and Month in Review (pick any month), back to the day you joined. Same page, scoped to one stretch of time, with a few extras like your first and last watch of that year. That's the whole difference. Simkl runs on member support, no annoying ads on stats and no investors, and VIP is genuinely what keeps the servers on and this stuff getting built.
>One more thing. There's an easter egg hiding on the heatmap, and we're not going to explain it. We'll just say your 365 squares have a few tricks in them you won't see coming. Poke around. You'll know it when you find it.
This is the biggest Stats update we've ever shipped, and we'd still love to hear what you think. Open yours: https://simkl.com/my/stats/
Then come back and post the most interesting thing the page told you about yourself: the stat that surprised you, the number you didn't see coming, the archetype you got. Screenshots very welcome, we want to see them. Tell us what stat to add next, too.
