SG vs Seoul for rejuran/skin boosters? (And how to deal with the language barrier)

The SG weather and humidity are totally ruining my skin lately, so i'm looking to get some skin boosters like rejuran or juvelook. But local clinic prices are honestly so high.

I'm thinking of doing a short weekend trip to Seoul next month just to get my skin sorted out since it's way cheaper there. My only worry is the language barrier. I want to go to actual local korean clinics rather than the overpriced tourist traps, but my korean is zero.

I saw some people online mentioning medical translation services like lalamedi or some other concierge services. Has anyone from sg tried using a service like this, or do you guys just survive with google translator and stick to english-speaking clinics? I'm little bit worried if doctor will misunderstand what i want and do some weird, different services.

How are masseurs paid when you buy a package from the salon?

I bought a package from a massage salon in the shopping mall because they offered a "Buy 10 Free 2" promo. I run errands at this mall frequently, and it felt convenient. Back then, it didnt dawn on me to calculate how much the masseur would get paid by the salon each time they completed a massage session.

During session 2/12, I was prompted by the receptionist to buy a new package. She said, since I am using their services, I should quickly get a new package.... cos maybe next month, no more promotion liao. I dismissed her suggestion and said I will take a while to finish my package.

Session 3/12, the receptionist again prompted me to get a new package. She gave the same reason "dunno when my boss will stop doing the promotion." My reply was - When my package is used up, then I renew. Pls stop asking me to renew package each time I come. Receptionist then looked at my records, and said "aiyah only your 3rd time, at most we asked u to renew 3 times only, thats not a lot."

Session 4/12...it was the same thing. By now, I was seriously annoyed. But I bought a package, I wanted to make sure all sessions were utilized.

Session 5,6,7 & 8, all the same old shit. I pretty much just ignored whatever the recep says by now.

Session 9/12 - They can see that I am now almost at the end of my package so the effort to get me to renew my package received a turbo boost. Today, the recep said "If you dont renew your package today, the masseur working on you will not get paid!" Whoaaaaa.... she really surprised me with this. Must give her extra points for creativity. I replied that I am being deducted one session from my package, so the company can work out how much the masseur is being paid from there. Receptionist then replied "But our shop is not getting new income from you today, so there is no money to pay the masseur!" Double Whoaaaaaa.
I replied that I had already paid the salon when I signed the package, how the salon distributes compensation to its workers is not within my control.

It is very exhausting because going for a massage is supposed to be relak. But each time I go, I have to prep my brain on how to taiji the receptionists' advances to make me buy a new package.

I know salons need to have sales volume to survive. I am all for supporting local businesses. But can don't hardsell until like that or not? And, on a serious note, does anyone know how compensation actually works within these salons?

Any recommendations for clarifying shampoo?

Hey guys!

Any recommendations for clarifying shampoo that can be easily obtained locally? Some of the more recommended ones on reddit are quite hard to find in SG or not available locally.

What are the ones that youre using now?

And for SG climate where youre constantly sweating and may have build up. How often are you using clarifying shampoo?

Thank you!

recommendations for conditioner

i need advice on what conditioner to get! I have typical fine and thin hair, that’s been dyed and permed 1 year ago. I previously used &honey but i think it’s too heavy for the heat and humidity.
Rn i use Diane extra fresh and hydrate shampoo and Milbon Deesse’s Elujuda emulsion.

Shampoo

Does anyone here use clear men shampoo? I use it because I really like the masculine scent and the cooling feeling but I feel like it makes my hair dry and the brand doesn’t have conditioner for some reason. I usually have dry hair but oily scalp and I really want silky soft hair. Can anyone suggest some products and routines? Thank you so much.

products to make curls stay after styling?

anyone has recommendations on products that can actually help hold curls after styling with heat? i find it impossible for curls to hold in sg weather and my hair is extra sensitive to humidity. i don’t do this often, only for special occasions. so far ive tried the hairsprays that are readily available at drugstores including lucidol, but with limited effect

Whats your best buy for self care purpose?

Sharing a hairdryer that I bought back in 2019. Braun Satin Hair 7.

Never thought would come and share my user experience on this.

The only downside is bit heavy

  1. Strong speed for fast drying. Max 5 mins all dry. Long hair.

  2. Ionic technology

  3. Both cold and hot setting can switch very fast.

  4. Come with nozzle for wavy or permed hair

  5. Durable. Not issue for past 7 years. I use it daily.

With this, everytime I go travel and use at hotel hairdryers, I can't help but notice how slow they are :")

Your turn to share your best buy!

anyone else has tangled ends when shampooing hair?

as per subject my hair always tangles terribly when im shampooing and i require a lot of conditioner to soften/detangle my hair. Is it due to my shampoo or conditioner?

For context, I used to have oily and sensitive (wrong products may cause my scalp to have dandruff) scalp but now after changing my shampoo it no longer gets oily even when I dont wash my hair a day but the bottom of my scalp has a bit of bumps once in awhile when its very hot

Base off the above, do you have any products to recommend

How often should we trim our hair if we want it to grow?

I have lots of split ends but I rarely trim my hair because I want my hair to grow. I trim my hair once every 6 months. My hair looks frizzy with all these split ends and breakage and I just feel so frustrated looking at it. I’ll end up picking at them hahaha. I know trimming of hair won’t encourage hair growth. But is it healthy to trim my hair only twice a year?

Eye Lash Lift

Hi everyone,

  1. Any recommendations for lash lift salons in Singapore? Tested and tried!

  2. Also, how much maintenance does it require and are there any side effects?!

  3. Can it be a one time affair or has to be done repeatedly if done once?

  4. What happens to your natural lashes if you get lash lift only once? Hope they won’t fall out etc?

Pls help!
Thanx

Hint Salon Tanjong Pagar experience

Hi guys!

Anyone went to Hint Salon for a haircut recently (May 2026) ? I have been stalking their insta for abit and decided to pamper myself and feel pretty. All their reviews look so good. I went last week and it was really a poor experience.

So I have thick volume hair. A random male stylist greeted me as if I had some problem to fix. I love my thick hair tbh. His whole energy throughout the 1hr was not patient with me (salon was empty) and at the end, very insensitive. He straightened my hair but I told him I like waves. He didn’t ask me how I would like it to be styled prior. Then he said as my head and hair was BIG I should not have waves or curls. And he even teach me how to be a girl, he said, girls usually want to look small and have small faces, a straight hair will help.

Didn’t expect to pay $70 to be criticized so casually. It’s like walking into a shop finally buying that cute top you wanted but the sales assistant say your body is too big, throw on a jacket, hide it!!! fat girls like you should never ever wear cute tops, you need to slim down!!

I know this salon is popular amongst skinny pretty influencers but I didn’t expect to be treated like a second class citizen just because I am not size XS or living up to the stylist definition of a “girl”. Maybe I should have known sigh. Some may say I am sensitive but yes I am sensitive, I am paying for the service, I do expect the stylist to also be sensitive.

Anyone had similar experience?

Update: Thanks for sharing your thoughts guys. It was a first time experiencing it at a salon in my life after such anticipation so was feeling quite triggered. Will note down ur tips!
