St. Charles Riverfest 2026

I want to say as someone who just in the last year moved to the stl area, riverfest is very cool!!

The fireworks show was over 20 minutes long and was a very good show!!

On the flip side, the shuttle service from the parking lots seems like a good idea, but definitely was not. After waiting on the shuttle to take us back to our car for 15-20 minutes, we decided that the 54 minute (2.5 mile) hike seemed more and more appealing.

A group of us decided this was the best plan of action. Once we finally arrived at our car, what we believe the shuttle that we would have been on, finally pulled up to the parking lot... an hour later...

Just want to note, this is not me complaining. I chose my fate and ended up going on an interesting adventure.

Hope this helps people going forward!!

Travis Wilson blatantly violated parade rules by throwing candy and campaign merch onto the street

Edit: Someone linked the rules below:

> 9. Fun at the parade is vital but safety is also! The safety of all attendees and participants is our top priority. Kids can be at risk when receiving candy from the road near moving floats, so please be mindful when distributing candy into crowds. For the safety of everyone involved, grills, open flames, and other fire-producing devices are not permitted on floats. Help us keep the parade safe and enjoyable for everyone.

So it doesn't actually say they can't throw candy, just that they have to be mindful. He was not being mindful at all. At several points, they cut open bags of candy and dumped them on the street.

Parade participants were told not to throw things at people.

(Edit: It seems this was a clarification given to parade participants and not literally written down in the rules.)

Travis Wilson, incumbent rep of district 106, blatantly violated this rule and continued to do it despite being told it was against the rules.

His group created a very long line of litter from the boathouse all the way through main street.

Also, there was literal horse poop in some parts of the street and he didn't care.

Finally, some kids almost got ran over by some floats as they tried to grab the candy that Wilson and his group carelessly threw around.

Quick question about motorcycle license endorsement.

Hello all, I am planning on getting my motorcycle license endorsement and I was wondering after I complete the course to get it, will I have to get a new drivers license image taken at the DMV or can they just use the one I currently have on my license? Thank you in advance

Drone show 🤷‍♂️💩

Did anyone else expect more than 9 minutes? I had family come into town for this show and everyone left confused.
The show at Grants farm is 25 minutes.
Am I being too critical?

My co-worker Luke was the man shot and killed in O'Fallon this week

Luke was a hard worker, a family man, and no matter what, he did not deserve to die. He leaves behind a fiancé and 3 precious babies.

I just wanted to share the GoFundMe we started for his family: https://gofund.me/9fc612208

Please be kind to others, y'all. ♡ Peace and love!

Eigel can’t eliminate personal property taxes

The county exec does not have that authority or ability only the legislature and Eigel failed to convince anyone when he was a Senator because he’s universally disliked.

He’s lying to all of us because he has no other ideas and is an incompetent doofus. Republicans should vote for Ehlmann.

DEMOCRATS and INDEPENDENTS:

Pickup a Republican primary ballot in August and vote for Ehlmann.

Also vote for Kurt Bahr since Jen Olson does not seem to understand how elections work.

What restaurants are open tomorrow?

My family is in town and we need somewhere to eat for breakfast and potentially dinner (we have a reservation but it sounds like they may have overbooked?). We usually do The Scrambler House for breakfast, but they’re closed for the holiday.

Thanks in advance!

You didn’t care for my bumper sticker

Today while driving off Timber Ridge a gentleman flipped me off. Since I live in that neighborhood I stopped him and asked him why. He expressed that he didn’t care for my “Catholics Against Trump” bumper sticker. He called me a fake Catholic. He said a lot of really inappropriate things about me enjoying homosexual activities, using a lot of expletives to make his discomfort known (I’m happily married to a woman, for the record). He was wearing a shirt from The Chosen tv show. Because of course he was. He refused to tell me his name, though he told me he went to my parish. When I asked if we could talk this over with our priest he told me to F off. When I told him that the Holy Father Pope Leo had denounced the war in Iran as an unjust war he told me that Pope Leo was a fake pope and I was a fake Catholic for following him.

Sir who drives a Nissan Pathfinder with ZJ6 on your plate, I hope that you spend some real time thinking about your actions. What kind of man does that to a stranger who he disagrees with politically? What kind of man won’t give his name and stand by what he said? Your behavior is something I would be ashamed of if my own children did it. And you are a supposedly grown adult man. Think hard about the kind of man you are. And think about what God you worship. Because I think your god is a demonic ideologue who has nothing in common with the faith of the Scriptures and the Apostles.

Looking for place to rent/roommate

I'm 31 year old male. looking for a place to rent or roommate. My living situation with family isn't the greatest right now and I am hurrying to find a new place soon. I would like to remain close to St. Charles because of work. I work a full time job and could easily afford splitting the cost with someone but renting alone with other expenses is pretty tough for me right now. I have found a few spots but I am allergic to cats so it has prevented me from moving. If anyone is looking for a roommate or has a room for rent in the area, please let me know

AC tune-up

Our AC is working fine but it's not keeping up with the afternoon heat. I've contacted two local companies but neither can get to me until September (!). Does anyone know of a company that isn't swamped?

Good place to watch fireworks for an elderly mom?

The title basically. Can anyone suggest an easily accessible place for me to take my elderly mom to get a good view of nearby fireworks? She can only walk 40 or 50 feet at a time and going to a festival site is a non starter. However, I am good to drive as needed. She can do maybe 30 mins in a car each way if needed. We are in St Peters and i will go north, south, east or west, as long as she doesn't have to walk and can see some shit blow up. Thanks in advance!
