Last tour shirt

My dad saw Stevie maybe 5-6 times- last two dates being at our local highschool auditorium in my hometown of Everett, WA (20 miles north of Seattle) and at the Gorge in Eastern WA where he bought this shirt- which was 5 dates before Alpine Valley. I keep this shirt in a glass frame at my studio

Stevie Ray Vaughan, 1984: photo outtake from the session for the cover of his second album, “Couldn’t Stand the Weather”

Graphic designer Holland MacDonald photographed Stevie using a long exposure. An image of the 1957 Fargo tornado was projected onto Stevie and the backdrop.

A nice montage of Stevie on his best behavior, in his best borrowed suit.

Far as I can tell this is March of 1983 at the Austin Chronicle Music Awards. Stevie & pals won Band of the Year, Musician of the Year, Best Electric Guitarist, Best Texas LP and Best Blues Band along with high placements in five other awards categories. Worth dressing up for.

"I like the climate, the air, the water. I like the smallness. I feel good being here. It kind of reminds me of Oakcliff, Texas, where I'm from — the houses and countryside, except that the roads are real windy while at home they're so straight"!!

Stevie Ray Vaughan, New Zealand, 1988

Stevie is starting the engine of a vintage motorcycle. He was filmed racing along a beach - part of the B-roll footage used in a commercial for Europa Oil he participated in with his fiancé Janna Lapidus.

Somebody posted some photography that reminded me of this ad. 1988 Europa - Travellin' On

Video description:

nzonscreen.com's description:

This 1988 Europa commercial showcases the guitar playing of American bluesman Stevie Ray Vaughan. An anthem to good times on the road, the promo features four friends — musician Midge Marsden, jingles veteran Murray Grindlay, Vaughan’s fiance Janna Lapidus and Brigitte Berger — larking around the North Island in an old ute. Stopping off at the iconic DC3 aeroplane parked in small-town Mangaweka, they step into a bar made from car parts to join Stevie Ray on stage. A shorter cut of this petrol station promo also screened, plus an ad featuring an acoustic version of the song.
