Stevie Ray Vaughan, 1984: photo outtake from the session for the cover of his second album, “Couldn’t Stand the Weather”

Graphic designer Holland MacDonald photographed Stevie using a long exposure. An image of the 1957 Fargo tornado was projected onto Stevie and the backdrop.

A nice montage of Stevie on his best behavior, in his best borrowed suit.

Far as I can tell this is March of 1983 at the Austin Chronicle Music Awards. Stevie & pals won Band of the Year, Musician of the Year, Best Electric Guitarist, Best Texas LP and Best Blues Band along with high placements in five other awards categories. Worth dressing up for.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and his band mates and best friends Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon. Stevie insisted that his band receive the same compensation he did for live shows and recording royalties - something unheard-of in the world of superstars.

Not even embarrassed, Forensic Files is my guilty pleasure💖

I watch it to catch glimpses of old technology lik dot matrix printers and gigantic car phones. It's a happy, gory place where random views of old Cutlass and Datsun cars and brass-n-glass decor live. My holy grail was spotting a ceramic goose with a fabric bow.

In his mid-twenties (1975 - 1977) SRV - or “Little Stevie” as he was then known - was a member of The Cobras, the most popular band in Austin. It was one of the 24 bands Stevie played with (some his own creations) in his life.

Cobras members were singer Paul Ray, saxophonist Jim Trimmier/Joe Sublett, guitarists Denny Freeman and Stevie Vaughan, bassist Alex Napier and drummer Rodney Craig.

Some photos of Stevie Ray Vaughan NOT a playing guitar. Not a guitar in sight, just Stevie being a regular guy.

Blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan, 1980. Promo pic from the days when he was a little known regional musician. In the 10 years between this photo and his death in 1990 he transformed into an internationally known guitar phenomenon.
