Pro Creation Care is Not Anti-Cat

I don’t understand how some feral cat fanatics equate wanting to protect native animals with callousness. It always weirds me out whenever they start crying, “WHY DO YOU HATE CATS?” As if a species numbering in the hundreds of millions, protected by cultural norms and laws, is more important than millions of native species.

We’re considered psychopaths because we don’t worship cats and aren’t ready to sacrifice native fauna on their altar? I don’t mean to beat a dead horse, but the environmental crisis is worsening especially under the Trump administration, you’d think more people would realize endangered animals need human protection more than cats, especially right now!

Neighbor’s cat won’t stop shitting on my lawn and garden

I have nothing but respect for people having a creature to take care of that’s good for their mental health but I’ll never understand why such a large portion of society is okay with their free roaming. It’s so nasty and obviously infuriating; it doesn’t bury its shit. When I go out to garden or do lawn work I smell it before I see it. If I catch it in action I’ll run out and throw water on it but it doesn’t stop it from coming back the next day. I don’t allow my dog to free roam onto other people’s properties and I’ll never understand why it’s okay that cats can just roam and shit whenever they want, even inside of fenced in properties. Talking to the neighbors about it just gets me a “hehe sorry. Can’t control where the cat goes.” I keep scooping it up with a hand shovel and chucking it as hard as I can against their shed lol.

(No Reddit I don’t have the means for an automatic sprinkler system. Sprays and citrus have proved to be useless and a waste of money)

Just shouting into the void. Thanks for listening to me bitch.

Texas rescue world melts down over Austin Pets Alive! statement on overpopulation and spay-aborts

August 12, 2025 - Austin Pets Alive! posts a video and a written statement on the topic of spay aborts, where shelters spay pregnant dogs and cats. This kills the unborn puppies and kittens. It's been done in conditions of extreme overpopulation, and it sharply divides the rescue world. Cat rescuers tend to accept it, bitterly, as a horrible necessity. Dog rescuers, dominated by pit bull advocates, tend to act like it's doggie genocide. What really got people's backs up in APA!'s statement, however, was their assertion that there is no overpopulation now, and thus no cause for spay aborts.

APA! responds to the uproar on FB. It is buzzword weaselspeak that blames miscommunication and mea culpas for having "failed to center the lived experience" of rescuers.
