I hate when people try to make every topic online a segue into their religion

It's literally fucking everywhere.

Random video showing wolf pups playing? "Oh what a beautiful moment of God's creatures playing! Christ is King, I hope you all find Him!"

Video of a man saving a kid from a fire? "Thank goodness God sent that man to save that child, He always has your back even when you think He doesn't!"

YouTube gaming tutorial of how to catch MissingNo in Pokémon Red and Blue? "Romans 8:28, God loves you!!✝️✝️"

And the worst category surprisingly enough? Science videos. This one pmo really bad because I love science and watch videos all the time of different (mostly physics related) topics. But I don't even need to CLICK on the comments see religious bullshit, because the top comment is displayed on YouTube without needing to click on it. And you know what said comment usually is something like?

"God created that."

"Beautiful explanation of God's brilliant creation."

"The Bible actually mentions this scientific concept in (random Bible verse that isn't even remotely related to topic of video) because when it talks about the 6 days He took to create the universe, it was actually a metaphor for time dilation and not actually that it took 6 days."

I can't stand it. Get the fuck outta here with your shit. Not everyone wants to hear that, I idgaf that your Bible tells you to proselytize, do it somewhere relevant. I don't go on random videos saying "God is fake lmao", there is 0 reason for you to be discussing this here. I think I need to start finding some atheist science YouTubers to avoid this kind, because I still like looking at comments to see if people have any other facts or details about the video. I really wish all online platforms had the option to block comments containing chosen keywords.

ELI5: Multilevel selection

Reading a book about evolution and genetics right now. I kind of get this concept but I would love a more clear and dumbed-down explanation, and an example would also be nice.

Had a very weird encounter at a reptile expo today

TW for descriptions of blood/animal suffering maybe? Idk if anyone would be bothered by that just for descriptions but good to stay on the safe side.

So DISCLAIMER before anyone rushes to the comments calling me judgemental: I understand that live feeding is sometimes necessary, like if a snake is very picky and really won't eat frozen-thawed. But this was definitely not the case.

I went to a reptile expo in Michigan today and went to a vendor to see his blue-eyed leucistic ball python. He let me hold it, and while I was holding it he said "do you want to see the cute Renaissance reptile picture collection?" or whatever the fuck he called it. I said yeah, and he proceeded to ask me if I was okay with blood. I said yeah, but I was very morbidly curious to see what cute reptiles had to do with blood.

He showed me a photo gallery of all of his live feeding snake pictures which he thought were "funny" or "beautiful". One of them was a living rat with its guts exposed from being squeezed (there were a few like this actually with various "pop" wounds). Another was a chick with it's mouth wide open (screaming in fear I assume), which he said he'd named "Monday", I assume in an attempt to get a laugh with the "I hate Mondays" style of joke. I gave him his snake back and left pretty soon after seeing the photo binder.

Now to address the disclaimer: this was clearly not a case of necessary live feeding; there were DOZENS of different ball pythons in these photo galleries, and most if not all were recent (I know because most of the snakes in the photos were being sold at the expo and they were all <1 year old), so it's not like these were photos accumulated over time of hundreds of snakes being bred and just every once and a while they needed live feeding. This was most definitely a case of someone live feeding either for fun or because they are misinformed to believe that live feeding is better. And honestly based off of the dude's excitement and laughter over the photos, I suspect he's in the former category.

Am I wrong in thinking this is weird? Like there's so many risks to the snake by live feeding and with all of these snakes there's no chance that all of them just didn't accept frozen-thawed. It sincerely felt like the dude just enjoyed watching animals suffer and die. Now obviously snakes are carnivores but feeding your pet is just something you have to do, it felt very weird to see someone really enjoy seeing wounds and screaming prey animals when you can get frozen-thawed much easier and it gives less risk to the snake. It's also one thing to not mind gore or animals dying or whatever, it's another to actively enjoy the morbid aspects involved so much that you'd make a "funny" photo album about it.

I feel like he's the reptile keeper stereotype that some non-reptile people believe all keepers are like; wanting an unconventional pet only because he enjoys watching it kill things.

Any ideas on fun ways to celebrate my gecko's birthday tomorrow?

Hello, my crested gecko turns 1 year old tomorrow. Before someone says, yes I know they don't understand or care about birthdays, but it's a fun thing that I like to do for my animals. For the cat and dog I usually give treats and a lot of pets, but I'm not sure what to do for a gecko.

I'm guessing something food related would be the answer, but any ideas on something special I can do? Or maybe some kind of way to make a paper hat? New plant? I looked this up too but I want to hear some other ideas.

Idk if anyone here knows the answer but I couldn't really get a good answer out of Google.

I went to the regular Kzoo reptile expo a few months ago expecting a fairly large expo with lots of vendors and animals, but this isn't really what I got. I usually go to the Grand Rapids expo that is closer to me, but that time I went to Kzoo because people said it was like 5x bigger. It was not. The room itself was much bigger, but it was a lot of empty space and in terms of vendors and content I honestly don't think there was any more than Grand Rapids. So I figured that would probably be the last Kzoo expo for me.

But recently I found out that in May there is a super show version of the Kzoo expo that goes on for two days. Since I can't make it to the Grand Rapids expo this month and I missed Grand Rapids last month I still really want to go to an expo, but I don't wanna go if it's gonna be a similar situation.

Is it really bigger, (as in, does it have more vendors and stuff), or is it mostly only called a super show because it goes on longer? I don't want to be disappointed again, especially because Kzoo is fairly far from me.

Sorry about the really long post but given the specificity of the situation I feel like the context is important.
