Stranger things character discussion post day 41: Lieutenant Colonel Jack Sullivan

Stranger things character discussion post day 41: Lieutenant Colonel Jack Sullivan

I like Sullivan. The actor puts in a good performance and he's a one dimensional character who feels like he's supposed to be so. I do wish he died in the MacZ massacre though, would've been the best ending for his character, dying to a threat he was convinced didn't exist.

Now its your turn. What do you think or Sullivan? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive.

None of the seasons are “objectively the best” or “objectively the worst.”

stop saying this. it’s not true. let people enjoy what you want, it’s all subjective.

i like season 5. is it objectively the worst season? no. is it objectively the best season? no. it was subjectively the best for me, but that’s my opinion. if it’s the worst for you, it’s your opinion.

im sick of people pretending only their opinions matter.

just my thoughts.

Stranger things character discussion post day 40: Dr Kay

Ok. I'm trying not to be negative here so instead I'm challenging myself to say something nice about her.

Linda Hamilton is freaking incredible, and she makes Dr Kay feel really threatening. Loved her dedication to the hunt for El.

Now it's your turn. What do you think about Dr. Kay? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive.

rewatch since it ended

i’m finally rewatching the whole show for the first time since the show ended. i feel weird about it so wanted to share it here. to make it clear i loved season 5. the biggest reason is how it made me feel. even knowing the reasonable flaws it has, the ending was so heartwarming and tugged on my heart so deeply that no other media has ever done for me. i think besides how much i genuinely liked what happened in that season, it making me feel that way is the best thing i could ask for. i haven’t had the heart to watch it since i finished the final episode because i have this wave of sadness and nostalgia rush over me now that it’s over. i think now that im about to rewatch, that feeling is coming back again but it has a lot more joy to it. i hope everyone has something that connected to them like every single season of this show has connected with me. i’m glad there’s a space like this sub to share this.

Stranger things character discussion post day 39: Grigori

I really like Grigori. He's a fun presence on screen and it's always fun to see him and Hopper fight. Sort of wish we even got more of him, he was really cool.

Now it's your turn. What do you think of Grigori? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive.

The shameful Conformity Gate Conspiracy makes it hard to deny that the LEVEL of hate the end of the series received was fueled by a mob-mentality and the bandwagon

If you just ‘didn’t like’ Stranger Things 5 then this post doesn’t apply to you.

The point is that the absurdity of the hate received after watching four full seasons of the show AND completely finishing the season, indicates that the INTENSITY of the criticism was learned from the internet.

If it was as bad as people are saying it was, they would have stopped watching.

I can’t give you an exact reason as to why the bandwagon blew up as it did. I’m not a psychologist. But, I believe it should not be overlooked how so many people seemed to be predisposed to disliking final seasons, and others do not.

This is not meant to cause an argument or upset anyone. It is meant to deeply consider the psychological effects of Final Seasons and how people’s opinions of them are influenced.

If you want to make the claim that people are not influenced by the internet, this post likely isn’t for you either.

The point being, truth is NOT defined by the bandwagon mentality and ‘majority opinion’.

If that was the case, the world and the US would look a lot different today.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Stranger things character discussion post day 38: Tommy Hagan and Carol Perkins

The real bullies of s1. Love how every time they talked smack, Steve shut them down. Also love how Steve is the mom friend giving Tommy his meatloaf after Carol stabs his and giving Carol his juice box after Tommy destroys hers. Also love Chester Rushing confirming he played Tommy as a closeted homosexual (either bi or gay).

Now its your turn. What do you think of Tommy H and Carol? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive.

Stranger things character discussion post day 37: Claudia Henderson

I love her. She seems like a really cool mother, albeit emotional. I love her reactions to Dustin's graduation speech she was so proud of him no matter what he did. Underrated parent.

Now it's your turn. What do you think of Claudia? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive.

Stranger things character discussion post day 36: Lonnie Byers

God I hate Lonnie. He makes my blood boil. But that's just a testament to how well he's written and acted. I loved how real he felt, I've known plenty of people just like this scumbag. I loved how he only attended the funeral just to get money. What an arse.

Now it's your turn. What do you think of Lonnie? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive.

Funny how everyone loved Season 5 upon first watch, but a quick trip to TikTok changed their minds real fast.

It's really upsetting to me the hate that season 5 got. I rewatched Stranger Things with my Dad (who was seeing it for the first time) and I honestly liked season 5 more than I thought. I've always really liked it don't get me wrong, but I was having so much fun rewatching it.

Everyone's immediate reaction was generally positive, but now, most Stranger Things fans are spewing a list of reasons why Stranger Things 5 was bad, a list that can be found in a Tiktok after a few seconds of searching. It really upsets me because I love Stranger Things.

edit: obviously, not everyone is wired into social media and gets all their thoughts from there, as a younger gen-z a lot of people my age have tiktok and seem to get there criticism for season 5 from tiktok. personally, i think season 5 is pretty good, no where near the other seasons, but fun and satisfying. if u hate it, thats fine thats ur opinion we can disagree, and i can still be upset of the crazy backlash it got. i should have worded the original post better sorry for those who i offended

Eleven’s ending was NOT misogynistic

To all of you people saying “oh eleven’s ending is misogynistic” or “They were fridging! So sexist“, this is for you.

Honestly, calling Eleven’s ending "misogynistic" completely misses the entire point of her character arc, and it feels like you're just throwing around buzzwords because you didn't get the fluffy, fan-fiction ending you wanted. For five seasons, her entire struggle was about fighting for her own autonomy against people like Brenner and the military who wanted to use her as a weapon. In the finale, her deciding to fake her death and isolate herself isn't her being "oppressed"—it's her making a tactical, independent choice to protect her friends and completely outsmart her abusers. That is the literal definition of narrative agency, but you’re reducing her ultimate act of free will to her being a passive victim just because it makes you sad.

It is also incredibly dense to act like a female character making a heroic sacrifice is automatically sexist. This is textbook, gender-neutral mythological storytelling; look at Frodo Baggins or Harry Potter, who both had to leave their normal lives behind because they were too changed by their trauma to just go back to playing D&D in a basement. If Mike or Hopper had done the exact same thing to stop Dr. Kay, you would be calling it an epic, legendary sacrifice and praising the writing. Holding Eleven to a different standard just because she's a girl, and demanding she get a neat little domestic happy ending instead of a grand heroic conclusion, is the actual regressive take here.

Finally, if you actually paid attention to the literal plot of the episode instead of just crying over the bittersweet tone, you’d know she didn’t even die. Thanks to the plan with Kali, she completely tricked the government and successfully escaped the system that hunted her for her entire life. The final shots show her alive, free, and living peacefully by a waterfall, away from the violence and the lab. She isn't some tragic prop sacrificed for the boys' emotional growth; she is a survivor who won her freedom on her own terms and beat the system, so please stop twisting a massive victory into a sob story about sexism.

Stranger things character discussion post day 35: Andy Harper

Oh Andy, Andy, Andy, Andy. He's just a stereotypical 80's jock. I did like how intimidating he was, but the difference between how the party dealt with him compared to Troy and James, they were so quick to shut him down. Loved that scene. He must be a real idiot though, cause he graduated 3 years after he clearly was supposed to.

Now it's your turn. What do you think of Andy? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive.

Stranger things character discussion post day 36: Suzie Bingham

I love Suzie. I loved how they tried to make us think she's not real, only for her to give us one of the best scenes in the show. Then I loved meeting her family in s4. Shame she and Dustin clearly broke up, they were quite cute together.

Now it's your turn. What do you think of Suzie? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive. And please if all you're gonna say is "why wasn't she in s5" then just don't. She didn't need to be there, and they obviously broke up.

Stranger things character discussion post day 34: Troy Walsh and James Dante

They're very one dimensional. Not much more to them than just "bully". I do love how surprised they were when Mike actually jumped. Has any read the comic "the bully" it's one of my favourite comics it gives the both of them a lot more character. Definitely recommend.

Now it's your turn. What do you think of this bullying duo? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive.
