For a show that featured him in only two episodes it’s weird how Agents of SHIELD got Nick Fury better than a lot of his latter appearances.

I mean seriously they got so much right about him in AOS.

He gets to be a badass spy who everybody respects and is able to talk down to Garret in the season 1 finale despite being outmatched all while keeping it natural. I just love how he puts Coulson in his place in episode 2. Not to mention that he gets multiple mentions about how legendary any he is up to season 4.

I also enjoy how they covered the morally grey sides of the character with what he did to Coulson with Tahiti and how he stockpiles all the technology he finds in the Fridge.

Most of all I love how he gets to remain a badass even after S.H.I.E.L.D. collapsed in the season 1 finale and I wish that he’d been portrayed similarly in Secret Invasion and the Marvels.

Something weird happened to me the other day

The other day I was hanging out with some friends at this diner called Rae’s restaurant (very tasty pies btw) when the craziest shit happened.

There was this power outage and these soldiers came and one of them said something weird. Then some guy on a table started congratulating them.

Suddenly the soldiers, the guy and his friends except for an angry Scottish dude disappeared. Immediately afterwards the military stormed in and arrested him asking where “the others” were. I quietly snapped a picture of the Scottish dude and my friends and I stayed silent.

Some general people asked us a few questions and then kicked us out (I never got to finish my pie). Also it appears that we somehow lost two minutes when the soldiers disappeared.

So does anybody know what just happened? Am I in danger for posting this?

Honestly, Mordo is one of the most wasted villains in the MCU

I keep thinking back to the original Doctor Strange and keep being reminded of how good it is. Strange’s story, the magical elements, Dormamu are just so well done. I seriously think it’s one of the most overlooked instalments in the entire franchise.

One of the best things in the movie is Strange’s relationship with Mordo, pitting Strange’s methods of breaking the rules for the greater good against Mordo’s beliefs that the laws of nature must be maintained at all cost.

The movie ending with Mordo leaving meant that we would actually get this rivalry expanding beyond more than just one film perhaps becoming the focal point of the trilogy. We could have gotten Strange vs Mordo in Doctor Strange 2 where this rivalry is deepened and then in Doctor Strange 3 the two are forced to work to work together to fight a bigger threat as a consequence of Strange’s actions leading to a conclusion to both characters. IDK what exactly but I just think it would have been really cool to see a hero-villain relationship expand beyond just one instalment something we haven’t really gotten beyond the Thor and Loki relationship.

Instead Mordo never shows up again except as a variant with no past with Strange in MOM where he is just a jealous a**hole and gets a boring fight with Strange and has barely any implications with Strange’s character.

I hope that if we get Doctor Strange 3 they actually bring back the real Mordo and give him actual payoff to the ending of the first movie and of Strange’s mistakes since while also showing the flaws in Mordo’s beliefs.

Killing of characters would not make a better S5

Like seriously what is this obsession with killing off everyone for more “stakes”.

Don’t get me wrong maybe they could have killed Karen or Ted but I don’t think that it would be worth sabotaging the ending of every character just to scare the audience make them think nobody is safe.

Like I don’t get why people think Max should have died in S4. Like it goes against her entire storyline where she learns to live with herself after Billy’s death. Killing her off is just telling suicidal people “there is no way out kill yourself”. But no, apparently getting the audience to pee their pants is more important.

This is why I get the anger at El’s ending even if I disagree. She choose to live but didn’t want to let her loved ones die and is now happy in Iceland where Mike will find her as he hasn’t given up on her. But I get why people would interpret it differently.

The only characters that could have died are Steve (because of the typical redemption arc but the Duffers wrote themselves out by killing Eddie and making Dustin’s S5 storyline about NOT losing anyone else) and Jonathan (because of how he wasn’t a character since S2 but killing him would dishonour his S1 character so the Duffers gave him an ending that fits with his initial character where he finally gets to ch himself over his relationships).

The thing is that we see these characters go through hell seasons 1-4 so S5 is about them finding the way to “the other side of this”. ST is about traumatised people getting through their horrors and confronting them and S5 is the point where they stop running. Killing off the main cast would sabotage this for no concrete reason other than scaring people. Instead ST gets us to be afraid by getting us to care for these characters and question how (not if) they can make it through these horrors.

S5 respected that for the most part giving happy endings to everyone except Mike and El (who I chose to believe will get theirs later). The Duffers knew what they were doing and knew how to end their story.

EDIT: Since this is apparently unclear. I did love S5 and I think it is great. I simply meant that it is good as it is.

Well, the next alien invasion has begun.

So the other day I made a post where I said that the apocalypse was coming after another Convergence-like anomaly. After that I posted pictures of said anomaly and SHIELD interviewed me about it (it was fine, I'm alive).

After that I decided that given there is nothing I can do about the impending catastrophe so I decided that I should chill the f**k out before the end (well that and that is what my friends told me to do and that I needed to relax). So I decided to drive all the way to Muncie to visit the Museum of Natural History.

But apparently I'm cursed because I get there and I see the giant dude from the other day at the door telling a kid to leave. I'm like nope, I'm outta here because I'm not stupid like Kong in the leaked Godzilla vs Kong scripts (sounds like a fun movie, but the snap killed everything cool). So I run away as fast as I can and then the entire Museum explodes. And I don't mean a normal explosion, I mean a creepy alien explosion.

Like what is happening, this sure as hell isn't the Dark Elves but something new. Are the Avengers getting involved? What are they doing? Are they just depressed or something? Because I think we need them back now, this is getting serious.

u/RandonDude3000 — 18 days ago

Is this the next crisis. I can't do this anymore.

It's been almost a year since the snap. Since we all lost so many friends and family. You'd think that the universe would leave us alone and let us grieve.

But no, I think we have a new cosmic crisis on our hands. Since I recently moved to Indianapolis I thought I'd go play some basketball. I'm pissed because some stupid kids are playing basketball so I decided to look at my phone and then everything goes to shit.

First, the ball shatters like glass and then these bird things start flying out of the ground. Then some guy tears out of the f**king wall then some other dude tries so do the same thing but the wall cristalises. After that I was like I'm out and I ran off.

However while running away I think I saw a SHIELD quinjet pull up and get shot out of the bloody sky.

Currently I'm hiding in my appartment until SHIELD pulls up to get me to sign an NDA and say that these photos are deepfake. But I don't know what to do. What is happening? Are Thanos' minions back to avenge his death? Is this some other alien psycho? Can't the universe just let us suffer in peace if we can't get our loved ones back? I don't want another apocalypse.

u/RandonDude3000 — 18 days ago

So there's no going back to the way things were.

Its been 3 weeks since everything went to shit.

The internet is mostly back up so I guess I'm posting this.

The remaining governments claim that 50% of the world population was affected by what is now called the snap. Apparently the aliens that invaded New York in 2012 lead by someone called Thanos came back to retrieve things called "Infinity Stones" to kill half the population of the universe. The Avengers tried to stop him but failed (I guess I forgive them for not pulling up in Chicago but I'm still pissed about the accords). Apparently the Avengers were then able to kill Thanos but not before he destroyed the stones making the "snap" irreversable. Also they have confirmed that Tony Stark is alive and safe although the Spider-Man was killed in the snap (RIP he was cool) as well as Dr Steven Strange (who is apparently a wizard of sorts). Also Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanov have been pardonned with Romanov now running the Avengers. Also SHIELD has been relegistamised to clean up the mess (OOC: I'm 90% sure this is canon as SHIELD was legit in S6 and seemed to be public).

Honestly I don't know what to make of this.

It seems that by BFF as well as father and brother (who it took me a week to find out for sure were dead) aren't coming back and now we have to move on with it or whatever. I'm just mad at the accords for dividing the Avengers, at the aliens and at whoever else is responsible.

I'm probably not going to be posting for a while so I guess this is goodbye for now. I'm going to be moving out of Chicago. IDK where to for now but I can't keep sleeping in my dead BFFs appartment forever.

Image 1 is a picture of Earth's statistics in the governments report, image 2 is a poster of a support group (I don't plan on attending but maybe someone reading this might)

OOC: Part 4 to my post about Chicago. Also I wasn't sure if I should use the Infinity War or Endgame flair since my post is set during Endgame but before the time jump so I used a 2018 flair. I'm not sure if my explanations about the disclosure to the world about the snap is accurate so I went with what made most sense to me)

Jeffery Mace appreciation post

I honestly feel like Jeffery Mace is one of the most underrated characters in the show.

I love how they set him up as this untrustworthy shady figure only for us to find out that he is a genuine good person who actually wants to help people. He may have lied about being an inhuman but he truly believed that Inhuman's deserved to be accepted.

I just love the scene where Ivanov tries to break him but instead of folding he tells him how his only regret is that he doesn't have real powers to kick his ass.

His Framework version was amazing and I love how he's a true patriot who choses to stand up to the oppressive Nazi regime and becomes a symbol and a hero.

Also both his sacrifice scenes were devestating.

Why I think El is alive

I've seen a lot of debate about this and I wanted to give my own thoughts on what I think about this.

First of all and the most obvious reason: Netflix likes money

Second reason: Hopper's speech adresses most of the fandom's issues. El's sacrifice isn't a suicide but rather a choice of her own to leave the people she cares about so they can live. Mike's theory is based on this and thematically speaking is the logical interpretation.

Third reason: The reoccuring theme of belief in the show. One of the central pillars of the show and specifically S1 is characters refusing to believe that their loved ones are gone despite how insane they sound. A major example of this is Joyce in season 1 with Will when everyone thought she was insane leading to some of the best moments in the show. This is why I think that Mike will eventually make it back to El.

Endgame didn't "ruin" Thanos. It just showed the truth about him

I keep seeing the take that Thanos in Endgame was reduced from a complex character doing what he thinks is right to a generic villain who wants to destroy everything. I disagree.

I thing Endgame Thanos is the real Thanos and that was the inevitable conclusion of his character.

In Infinity War, he explains his motives to Doctor Strange saying that Titan was destroyed because people didn't listen to him so he sets out to collect the Infinity Stones to be able to fix the problem on a universal scale. The thing is this led to a lot of questions such as "Why didn't he double the ressources?", "Wouldn't he also destroy the food supply?", Won't the problems occur again in a few years anyway once they repopulate?". I think the answer to those questions is simple: because these weren't possibilities when planning the original genocide on Titan.

The truth is Thanos never wanted to save the universe. He just wanted to prove to himself he was right.

In Endgame, past Thanos discovers that the Avengers are trying to undo his work. Thanos realises that his plan was flawed because of the universe being "ungrateful" that after everything they still can't accept he was right. So he decides that the only solution is to create a grateful universe, essentially taking away the universe's free will in order to ensure his success remains permanent without actually changing the initial plan. This is because he thinks the universe is flawed rather than his plan.

Because let’s not forget Thanos is the Mad Titan not the Sane Titan. MCU Thanos is just obsessed with his plan instead of Lady Death.

So what comes next?

Hello. I don't know if anyone is reading this given how everything has gone to shit. Given how the news stations have shut down and websites have crashed I don't even know if this has made it online.

Two days ago, I made posts about the attack on Chicago although I guess that's old news now. I don't even know if people will remember it now given how everything has gone to shit.

Anyway after my post the other day, I went to crash at my best friends appartment. We fought and I was angry because it was his idea to move here. Then suddenly he turned to dust like so many others and died in front of me.

I panicked and didn't know what to do. I went outside and saw all the cars crashing. I knew something was wrong so I tried to check the news and of course there was no signal. I managed to check the internet to see what was going on. I realised the economy was probably screwed so I tried to get money out of the back which luckily was only a street away. I was able to empty my account quick enough so I'm fine for now. I also went back to my appartment to go get all my canned food that I stoked up in case of an apocalypse (I'm a paranoid idiot).

I'm currently crashing in my best friend's appartment and I feel so bad. It wasn't his fault we moved here, how could he know what would happen? I was such an asshole and the last time I saw him all I did was berate him for something he had know control over.

I hope that anyone who is reading this is okay and that somehow the world will make it back from this. But of course how could this happen we were screwed the second those aliens charged out of that portal back in 2012.

(OOC: Part 3 to my posts about the attack on Chicago

part 2: https://www.reddit.com/r/Earth199999/comments/1u355aj/im_alive/

Also I wanted to convey the more trajic side of the snap taking inspiration from the Ant Man and The Wasp post credits scene and trying to show the trajedy and chaos, hope I succeded).

Thoughts on Ian Quinn

I've been recently thinking back to his character and I'm starting to think that he's actually one of the best written villains in S1 pre E17.

I mean the concept of a rich billionaire who prentends to stand for independence from the goverment but actually works for Nazis and thinks he is way smarter than he actually is so great (also today it sounds awfully familiar ...)

His scene is S5 is short but such a fitting end for his character. He gets what he wants but has no way to control it and it ends up devouring him (oh and Hall gets his revenge).

Also I love it when May beats him up.

So 8/10 villain

u/RandonDude3000 — 23 days ago

I'M ALIVE!

So I made a post earlier about the attack on Chicago. I think it's over now.

SHIELD pulled up out of knowhere (I guess wannabe Cecil did show up. I think I'll stop with the Invincible jokes. I'm sorry if any of you guys lost anyone, this shit is serious and I was drunk) and despite the fact that the government is telling us that they are terrorists again (after flip flopping about the subject like 50 times) they actually saved the day.

Call me shocked! I still don't trust government organisations but I think I'm warning up to them, they actually saved my life and many others.

Also Quake is back and she took on the weirdo dude on her own and beat him. I don't know why people hate her so much, I think she is an actual hero and she saved everyone here.

By the way, where the f**k are the Avengers, oh wait Iron Man is in space. But where is everyone else. War Machine? Vision? Steve Rogers and his fellow fugitive superheroes?

My appartment is trashed so I'm going to ask my idiot friend who told me to move to this shithole if I can sleep in his appartment.

Hopefully this day can't get worse.

EDIT: WHAT THE F**K IS HAPPENING? WHY IS EVERYONE TURNING TO DUST?

(Image 1 is SHIELD on their plane arriving, image 2 is a picture I found on another post on this site of Quake lying down after the battle)

OOC: Part 2 to my earlier post about the attack on Chicago.

u/RandonDude3000 — 24 days ago

WHAT THE F**K IS GOING ON?

Go to Chicago, they said. It's safer than New York, they said.

You'd think that my Invincible comic reading ass wouldn't fall for that trick.

Yet here I am and guess what happened:

Some wannabe Viltramite pulls up, slices half the buildings, flies out of his spaceship and begins tearing random holes in the city.

Now I'm hiding in some building waiting to be rescued texting my last words on my phone.

I'm probably going to die in an overly brutal way so I guess it was nice knowing you guys.

(Image 1 is from an official news report, image 2 is an enhanced version of a photo I took on my phone).

OOC: This is basically from the POV of my character, a random dude who may or may not be drunk and is trying to survive the final battle of AOS season 5 without getting killed while referencing Invincible for no reason other than being too much of a nerd (and like I said being drunk).

u/RandonDude3000 — 25 days ago

Do you guys think the Mind Flayer is dead or alive?

I've seen a lot of debate around this and was curious what you guys thought.

Honestly I think it's alive. We have to remember that it only looks like a spider because of Henry Creel's spider obsession, so I don't think what we saw in S5 was it's true form but rather it's final form once it finished feeding on everything in the Abyss (Demogorgon's, vines, etc...).

I think that once Vecna was defeated by the party, it abandonned him and left him to die (I also think Will felt nothing because at this point Will had enough control over the Hive Mind connection to tap out). Also we literally see the particles float away from the children and they seem very alive to me.

The truth is that even if it is dead it won't be for long because Netflix is 100% reviving it when it comes to making a sequel show or a spin off becuase it likes money.

So, what do you guys think?

[r/gaming] Any idea what happened for Deke Shaw?

For those who don't know Deke Shaw was the CEO of a tech company during the early Blip era. In 2019 he announced that his company was working on a new gaming system that would change the face if the industry forever. For us depressed nerds who had lost so much in the snap it sounded like great news. We got even more excited when his girlfriend Sequoia (a social media influencer) made a livestream in his testing room revealing that he was working on a new form of Virtual Reality gaming and a project called "Remorath Rumble". By the way this was the Blip we'd take any escape from this depressing world possible.

Then it all went wrong when there was some sort of attack on his company headquarters where some weirdo's were trying to kill him and then from what I saw in his girlfriend's videos SHIELD showed up and then he dissapeared from the face of the earth. A week later his company was just dissolved.

So what happened to him? Did SHIELD recruit him? Did they kill him and steal his tech? Did the weirdo's get to him? Was he involved in the rumored zombie incident in the Yucatan Peninsula? Did Elon Musk and his HYDRA croonies kill him because Elon didn't want to repay any favour he owed him (as Deke claimed in one of his GF's livestreams)?

Like what happened to him? I still want his VR game! Screw GTA 6! Screw Nintendo, overpricing their games! Screw Sony and Microsoft who don't even want to make games! Screw all the other AAA games giving us garbage (at least Lego Batman was cool but overpriced)! I want to play something cool.

OOC: This post is based on Agents of SHIELD season 6, I do think the general public would know about Deke's company since his girlfriend was a literal influencer.

I'm going to say it, I prefer the S5 we got over post apocalyptic Hawkins

Like I mean the ending of S4 is cool and all but looking back at it, it was just a cliffhanger to get people to watch S5. The more I think about it the more I feel like post apocalyptic Hawkins wouldn't work.

It just feels too big of a jump, a major part of ST is the 80s nostalgia and the plot in the first few seasons feels more mystery focused than action focused. A post apocalyptic setting would take that all away and the plot of the entire season would be essentially Battle of Starcourt (the part where the kids are hidding from the meat flayer) but dragged out for 8 episodes leaving no time to let the characters breathe and get actual development. The only thing we'd get are hype moments and aura.

Also this idea would mean everyone (and I mean everyone) in the world finding out about the upside down which would mean that no matter what, things could never be fixed and characters like El would probably get an ending so bad that the one we did get would like Breaking Bad in comparison, if the show could even be able to muster up an ending at all because in this scenario even with Vecna defeated, Hawkins would still be merged with the UD and we'd have to accept that monsters then just became a thing that exists in this world.

It just sounds as dumb as making a Star Wars movie as a sequel to a comedic heist movie. Oh wait, Marvel made that one and it almost killed the MCU.

The season 5 we got may not be perfect but it gave all the characters except Mike and El a good ending, wrapping up their storylines in a way that didn't rely on fan service (specifically refering to the love triangle), relyed on actual charcter development rather than hype moments and aura, and actually gave some really amazing episodes (the run from Turnbow Trap to Escape from Camazotz is genuinely peak).

Just to be clear I don't mean any hate. I'm just observing why I don't think this concept would have worked.

Thoughts on Tales From 85

I recentely watched Tales From 85 and I have to say it's way better than expected.

The VAs for Mike and Lucas are a bit off but the others are fine.

I really enjoyed the plot and loved how they brought back the Upside Down creatures with an actual explanation. My only issue with it is that it works so well that nothing stops it from happening again after the events of s5.

I really enjoyed the character interactions although I felt like some of them don't make sense in their actual setting in the canon (Mike essentially gets a smaller version of his s3 arc choosing to let El make her own choices despite his fears of loosing her again in one conversation halfway through).

Overall 8/10 (not as good as the original show but still amazing)
